Bird flu found in the valley

Authorities have confirmed an outbreak of Bird flu in the valley on Tuesday.

The Veterinary Epidemiology Center in Tripureshwor confirmed the avian flu-bird flu at a local poultry farm owned by Chandra Bahadur Tamang, situated on the banks of Manahara in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur district.

After the death of 35 chickens few days ago, Tamang had complained at the office of the livestock services.

Due to the lack of lab facility in the country, the laboratory has send sample to UK for the final confirmation after conducting preliminary lab test here that has confirmed the outbreak of Bird flu.

Department of Livestock Services under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has sent an expert team to take necessary works to prevent the spread of disease.

Meanwhile, over 500 chickens and ducks have been killed in the area.
