The last release of the producer Chhabi Raj Ojha is ‘Hawaldar Suntali’, released in 2015. His next movie ‘Kismat 2’ is scheduled to release on April 8. Chhabi started film making with ‘Yug Dekhi Yug Samma’.

“Hawaldar Suntali” is a movie made on the story of Suntali Dhami, a police officer who was raped in her office by her co-workers. Three police officers were jailed in the case. The actress Shilpa Pokharel however had never met the real person whose character she was doing in the movie.

The movie ‘Lazza’ is accused of being a copy of a 2007 release Hindi movie ‘Laga Chunari Mein Daag’. Director Samjhana Upreti had made that accusation in a radio interview. Shilpa Pokharel, who had debuted in the movie was also with Samjhana at the time of the interview. Samjhan claimed that the movie was made on an original story.

Who is Chhabi Raj Ojha?

The producer and distributor of movies, Chhabi Raj Ojha, is one of the most successful film producers of Nepali film industry. Chhabi has been active in the Nepali film industry for the last quarter century. Chhabi celebrated his silver jubilee in the film industry during his 50th birthday in 2014.

Chhabi is called ‘ba’ or ‘daddy’ in the film industry as he is has helped a lot of actors, directors and other technicians in Nepali film industry.

Personal life

Chhabi divorced his first wife. His second wife, Gitanjali Sunuwar, committed suicide. He married Rekha Thapa as his third wife in 2057 BS. and divorced in 2012. Although they are not legally (in paper) divorced, they are formally separated and they have also divided the assets between them.

Although Chhabi has told that he won’t marry again, the rumor between Chhabi and Shilpa Pokharel has started since she debuted in his movie ‘Lazza’. In one interview Chhabi told that he is willing to marry her. At that time, Shilpa didn’t rule out the marriage but asked Chhabi to wait. They later told that the statements were deliberately made for the publicity of the movie.
