Karishma Manandhar biography

Karishma was born on February 4, 1972 in Jharuwarasi, Lalitpur. Karishma is the elder daughter of army major, Chhetra Bahadur KC and Komal KC. Karishma has a younger sister with her mother and two elder sons from another mother. Karishma spent her childhood in Baneshowr, Thapagaun.

Actress Karishma Mannadhar entered the Nepali film industry as an actress at the age of 14 in the movie ‘Santan’, in 1990. After the completion of  the shooting of her second movie ‘Mayalu’, Karishma went to Mumbai for training. She also acted in Hindi movies while in Mumbai.

After a year-long Mumbai stay she returned back to Nepal to act in Kiran Pradhan’s ‘Kasturi’. Mahendra Bhakta Shrestha’s movie ‘Arunima’, Subodh Kumar Pokhrel’s movie ‘Manakamana’ and Narayan Puri‘s film ‘Tapasya’ followed. In none of these movies Karishma and were featured together.

In 1994, Karishma worked in Rajendra Salav’s movie ‘Bhauju’ opposite to Rajesh Hamal. Although Karishma and Rajesh Hamal were signed in Deepak Rayamajhi‘s film ‘Bhagya Rekha’ before and it was inaugurated, Karishma was removed from the movie in the last minute. After ten days of shooting Rajesh Hamal was also removed from the movie.

Karishma had produced movies like ‘Dhuk Dhuki’ and ‘Babu Shaheb’. After the failure of the movie and loss money, Karishma went to the USA and lived there for a while. After getting the Green Card she returned back to Nepal and is struggling to re-establish herself as an actress. Although aged, she doesn’t look old and her beauty is still intact.

As of March 2015, Karishma is busy in her home production movie ‘Falgu’.

2017 update- ‘Fagu’ flopped. Karishma has joined Naya Shakti Nepal – and has become a politician. She is planning to debut as a director and probably will feature her daughter Kabita Manandhar as an actress in the movie.
