Namrata Shrestha’s latest interview

Namrata Shrestha, one of the top model/actress, told that she is currently preparing herself to act on a movie based on a drug addict. She was talking to a journalist of nepalisite.com in her latest interview (video attached below).

The interview probably is the first such public appearance of Namrata after the release of a sex scandal video in September 2009. The scandal however wasn’t mentioned in the interview.

Namrata has proven her acting talent in the movies Sano Sansar and Mero Euta Saathi Chha. Many of the film industry personnel and the film viewers do not want to loose such a talented actress because of a stupid video that was released accidently. The interview seems to be the first step towards the re-establishment of Namrata’s acting career. Previously, she was also rumored to host the KTV film award show, but she didn’t showed up in the event.

iPad, are you going to buy one?

I am not a big fan of Apple computer and I am quite satisfied with this PC, I am typing on. I am still with Nokia and haven’t ‘touched’ the iPhone yet. But, the rumour of Apple tablet was too much not to notice!

Today Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, revealed the much waited mystery touch screen device. Many expected it to cost about $1,000 but it came with a much cheaper price tag. Given the features and specifications, the device in itself doesn’t seem to be that much revolutionary. It was a bit underwhelming for the most. One of the world’s busiest airport? No, it is Lukla.

I came across a 2007 video in YouTube featuring Nepali airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla showing interesting plane maneuverings.

Lukla airport has a very short (475 m) runway and a steep runway slope (12 degree slope) and a scary drop off (700m) at the end of the runway. The airport might be one of the high traffic airports at such an altitude but busiest in the world … ? No way! The title of this post actually came from the uploader’s comment for the video.

One of the most busiest airports in the world! Landing and Take-off at Lukla are very interesting!!!

Dasdhunga, 10 minutes too long – censor board

The Nepali film censor board has objected on some scenes of a movie based on the event of an ‘accident’ killing two top UML leaders, Madan Bhandari and Jivraj Ashrit. The 1993 ‘accident’ happened in a very mysterious circumstances and the only survivor of the accident, driver Amar Lama, was also killed after 10 years by an unidentified killer.

The movie ‘Dasdhunga’, produced by Apil Bista and directed by Manoj Pandit, is based on the incident, named after the accident location, Dasdhunga. The movie is told to be based on reports of various examination committees (Anil Commission, Tuladhar Commission, and Oli Commission) and published news/articles after the incident. The actors in the movie are: Anup Baral (Government Examination Panel), Dayahang Rai (driver Amar Lama), Saugat Malla (foreign agent), Sanchita Luintel (Anup Baral’s wife) etc.

UN Panel regrets estimates on melting of Himalayan glaciers

An international scientific panel overseen by the United Nations had estimated the glaciers in the Himalayas to disappear by 2035. The estimate was included in a 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The group has now expressed “regret” (IPPC statement in PDF) for publishing an unsupported estimate of the speed at which Himalayan glaciers were melting.

It is surprising that none of the 2,500 scientists who contributed to its 2007 report spotted the error that appeared in a sentence on page 493.

Manisha Koirala to act in a Nepali Movie

Manisha Koirala started her film career with a Nepali film. That was before she went to Bollywood, where she once was the top actress. Her golden days seems to be over in Bollywood as she doesn’t have much Bollywood movies in hand. She is utilizing her free time by acting in a Nepali movie.

Manisha is going to act in the lead actress role in ‘Dharma’, a movie directed by Dipendra K Khanal (‘The Yug Dekhi Yug Samma’ fame). Apart from Manisha, Rajesh Hamal and Nikhil Upreti will act in lead actor roles. Madhav Acharya, Anu Shah and Shankar Acharya will act in supporting actors role in the movie.

The movie, previously named ‘Rajniti’, was renamed ‘Dharma’ after signing Manisha in the lead role.

CAN Infotech 2010

The 16th CAN Infotech, a showcase of latest development in technology, has started at Bhrikuti Mandap Kathmandu on Wednesday. Six days long Can Infotech 2010 will end on January 18, 2010.

The event was claimed to be available for observation through internet. I was curious to see what was going on. But the site was down due to heavy bandwidth.

Isn’t it surprising that the site was down on the first day! The organizers are computer people… computer and internet is their only profession and they don’t know how internet works.

Aren’t they supposed to know the inside and outside of computer?
