    19 year old model Poonam Pandey had promised to bare all if the Indian national team wins the World Cup 2011. Her wish has come true, and her fans are drooling to get a glimpse of her ‘promise’.

    Poonam, a 5’7" tall model, featured in India’s best-selling swimwear calendar, had said previously that she wanted to provide an incentive to the Indian team players by baring all. It is not known if her offer will be welcomed or not.

    Although Poonam says that she is a diehard supporter of Indian team and it was not a publicity stunt, the widespread media attention has been no less than one. The Times of India featured a photograph of Poonam wearing a skimpy bikini.

  • Strike in Tikapur bazaar against police atrocities -Sood greeted with black flag


    UCPN (Maoist) called Tikapur bazaar bandh on Wednesday protesting against the police atrocities and detain of its cadres while showing black flag to Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood.

    Since early morning, the market areas, industries and education institutions have been closed down and long and short route vehicles have remained off the road due to the strike.

    The security has been beefed up to prevent any untoward incidents.

    About a dozen Maoist leaders were arrested from the district on Tuesday when they showed black flags against Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood.

    Police have arrested about a dozen of UCPN-Maoist cadres for showing black flags against Envoy Sood in Kailali district when he reached there to inaugurate a cultural program organised by the Tharu Utthan Manch on Tuesday. Three security personnel were injured during clash between Maoist cadres and the police.

    The Maoists greeted Sood with black flags in Kanchanpur district also, where he visited to inaugurate the new school buildings and roads built up on the Indian assistance.

    In Gulmi in March 22, 2011, in Bhojpur and Taplejung districts in Feb 28, 2011 also, UCPN-Maoist cadres have demonstrated black flags to Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood.

     

     

     

     


  • Police on high alert in Kathmandu


    Continuous bomb blast in public vehicles has occurred in Tarai Region terrifying general people.
    March 25, 2011- bomb blast in the bus (Ba.2.kha 5721) when heading towards Chandranigahapur from Rautahat and 13 injured.
    March 26, 2011- bomb blast in the bus (Na.4.kha 1332) when heading towards Kohalpur from Nepalgunj and 6 injured.
    March 26, 2011-Police recovers explosive devices from seven different locations of Banke and Bardiya District, 3 in Banke and 4 in Bardia.
    March 27, 2011- bomb blast in the microbus (Lu.1.kha. 3666) when heading towards Butwal from Bhairahawa, 22 injured, 1 died on the way when bringing to Kathmandu
    March 27, 2011- bomb blast in stopped public vehicle (Ba.2.kha. 5771) in Kavre, Kathmandu valley at mid-night, 1 injured.
    The Ministry of Home Affairs had warned Nepal Police, Armed Police and National Investigation bureau to remain on high alert.
    High level persons of both Nepal Police Force and Armed Police Force have suspected that the explosions could have been carried out by the Indian side to further pressurize newly formed government, published in the Kantipur daily.
    DIG and Spokesman of Nepal Police Nabaraj Dhakal said security personnel have beefed up security in public places and has stepped up security mechanism. He said police are concerned over the blasts and criminal activities within the last two weeks in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Rupandeshi and Janakpur districts. (RSS)
    DIG Dhakal added police chiefs in concerned districts have been directed to make security tight and said, “We have been making the best use of the human resources of Nepal Police to prevent any incident from happening.”
    Police say the series of bomb blast in Terai is the respond to the death of Bhawani Singh from Bhawani Singh group (an armed outfit) who was gunned down during shootout between him, his aides and the police.
    The DIG said, Bhawani Singh’s group is not affiliated to any party. They are active in Terai just for financial gain and have been collecting ransom by kidnapping people.”


  • CA member’s daughter found taking SLC exam for her mother/ 3 fake SLC examinees‚ 2 invigilators arrested


    Police detained the daughter of Constituent Assembly (CA) member Kirankumari Ray for giving exams on mother’s behalf. But she was released after short time. She walked out of the exam hall in Shree Chakra Janta Shahid Ganga Higher Secondary School in Barahathawa, Sarlahi Sunday.

    Kirankumari Ray, who was nominated CA member from Sarlahi by CPN (UML) under the proportional representation system, was using her daughter to write the exams for School Leaving Certificate (SLC). Her daughter, who has completed Bachelors Degree, wrote the exams for Compulsory English and Compulsory Nepali on Thursday and Friday last week.

    Police and the administration have refused to reveal the identity of the detained girl.

    Ray had filled the exam forms for SLC from Tribhuvan High School, Manpur, Sarlahi. The Controller of Examinations has expelled CA member Ray from the exams.

    3 fake SLC examinees‚ 2 invigilators arrested

    Today, three fake SLC examinees and two invigilators were arrested in Saptari, reported by RSS.

    Two men, identified as Hansha Raj Kumar Yadav and Pramod Kumar Sah, were arrested from the exam center based as Mahikar Secondary School, who sat for the fourth paper of SLC of their sisters, Shiva Kumari Yadav and Manju Kumari Sah, respectively, according to Area Police Office, Kanchanpur.

    Similarly, Major Mukhiya, who faked himself as Dipendra Yadav, the real SLC examinee, was also arrested from Diman exam centre.

    Likewise, two invigilators Arun Dev Sah and Bindi Lal Chaudhary were arrested for helping SLC examinees to copy chits in the exam from Barsain exam centre and Bhagatpur centre, respectively.

  • Karishma, Rekha and Football


    The craze of audiences during football match on Saturday in Kaski was more towards famous Nepali actress, Karishma Manandher and Rekha Thapa. Audiences were interested to see Karishma and Rekha than the football between film artists and journalists. Smile of Karishma, teasing of Rekha with tongue and short and stylist dress of both grabbed eyes of the audience.  Photo journalists were busy in taking pictures of Karishma with some young audiences than the picture of football.

    Rajesh Payal Rai sang a song “Sagar sari Chokho Maya……..” on the ground along with Rekha. But Rekha hurriedly leaved the ground for airport singing few lines only. The audiences were expecting to see Rekha and Karishma playing. But leaving the Pokhara stadium by Rekha and Karishma disappointed them. Similarly, Sri Krishna Shrestha also leaved the ground for not to miss out the plane.

    The known artist players to the audiences in the match were Dhiren Shakya, Srijana Basnet, Rajendra Khadki, Biren Shrestha, Jaikishan Basnet, Shanker B.C. and others were not so popular. So, most went out on the first half. The audiences felt the match less interesting, said some audiences.

    Some artists got injured from falling tarpaulin on them due to wind and rain. 2 goals of Subash Meche and 1 goal of Roshan Shrestha, total 3, make the artists winner of the match and Suman Karki did 1 goal for journalist team. Journalist team was able to do 1 goal only.

  • Looters shot down in the capital


    An unknown gang of looters shot down Prem Maharjan, a technician of Teku-based Excide Battery Company on Thursday evening.
    The looters shot at Maharjan and Sudip Basyal as they refused to provide money amid tight security in the Capital due to the arrival of Chinese Army Chief, police said. Basyal, a telephone operator was also injured in the incident and his treatment is going on at Norvic International Hospital.
    Family members and relatives of Maharjan demonstrated in Teku on Friday demanding for investigated and necessary action against the guilty. Traffic was obstructed in Teku for about an hour due to the demonstration


  • 10 injured in a bomb blast in Rautahat


    Ten passengers were injured when a socket bomb went off inside a running bus at Bhediyahi Chowk of Rautahat on Friday afternoon. The critically injured ones are receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Gaur.
    The bus was heading from Gaur-Chandranigahapur and the bomb was planted at the last seat of the bus (Ba 2 Kha 5721), said superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Adhikari.
    Similarly, another explosion took place at the Women Development and Children office just 20 minutes after the bomb blast in the bus. at Gaur. No one was injured in the explosion. Infrastructure in the office was damaged.
    Police also recovered another socket bomb in the office premises. A team of Nepali Army has reached the spot to dispose the bomb.
    According to SP Adhikari, police has already started its investigation.

  • Gurkha solider gets Britain's second highest medal for bravery


    Dipprasad-pun Gurkha soldiers are known for fighting single-handedly against a number of enemies. Last time, it was Indian Army Gurkha who fought more than 40 train robbers, in India to save a girl from being raped.

    Now, a British Army Gurkha soldier was honored by Britain’s second highest medal for bravery for fighting off at least a dozen Taliban insurgents.

    Acting Sergeant Dip Prasad Pun was stationed in a checkpoint near Babaji, in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. On September 17, 2010 militants opened fire from all direction.

    Alone on the roof, Pun fought  rocket-propelled grenades and AK-47s. He fired a more than 400 rounds of bullets, detonated a mine, and launched 17 grenades in about fifteen minutes of intense fight. He even used the machine gun tripod to knock down an insurgent, trying to climb up to his position.

    In a BBC news article, Pun says, "I think I am a very lucky guy, a survivor. Now I am getting this award, it is very great and I am very happy."

    The Conspicuous Gallantry Cross medal is only one level below the Victoria Cross, the highest medal a British Army personnel can get. The 31 year old Acting Sergeant Dipprasad Pun’s father and grandfather both had been Gurkha in British Army. (Photo credits – BBC)
