Sanchita gave birth to Nikhil’s son – on Krishna Janmasthmi

The first child of the unofficial marriage between Sanchita Luitel and Nikhil Upreti is born on August 21, 2011 at around 11 PM in Kathmandu. According to the reports, the doctors in Norvic Hospital had performed caesarean section operation on Sanchita. Although Nikhil Upreti and Sanchita had lived together for about a year in Mumbai, the marriage between the two is not official.

Nikhil Upreti has a one-year-old son with his first wife, Kopila Upreti, with whom he hasn’t divorced yet.  Nikhil Upreti arrived in Kathmandu yesterday to meet Sanchita.

Krishna Janmastami being observed

All over the country, hindu people are celebrating Krishna Janmashtami on Sunday.

Devotees are queuing up in famous Krishna temples in Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and other places since early this morning to mark Sri Krishna Janmasthami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Sri Krishna is considered to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Krishna was born at midnight on ashtami in a jail, where his maternal uncle Kansa had held his parents captive. He is the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva.

Devotees solemnize the festival with lots of joy and enthusiasm and throng to the temples of Lord Krishna. Devotees spend the whole night chanting prayers and devotional songs and dancing.

Teacher penalized for manhandling girl student

Krishna Bilas Poudel, a teacher of Rastriya secondary school in Rupakot-7 of northern Tanahun, has been penalized Rs. 110,000 on the charge of thrashing girl students, according to RSS.

So far, this is the ever first incident in Nepal to impose penalty to teacher for allegedly beating students. After ruthlessly beating up four girl students of grade 6 on August 13, Teacher Poudel was absconding.

School headmaster Purna Prasad Adhikari said that Poudel came in contact with the school only after joint meeting of school management committee and local guardians decided to put forward a process to take action against him through District Education Office if he did not attend school within five days.

The joint meeting was held a day after the incident and decided to take action of penalizing against the teacher.

It was decided to deposit the amount received from the teacher to the revolving fund of the school, said Cheeja Kunwar, a local guardian.
