Movie Review – The Last Kiss
We had previously posted – Pre-release review of The Last Kiss and a Nepali article about the movie’s Censor Board tussle and our assumption (wrong) that the movie would be ‘sexy’ (in Nepali).
As we have mentioned in the pre-release review, this movie is an addition to movies following the new business success mantra of Nepali movie industry – sex. Released all over Nepal ‘The Last Kiss’ uses sex scenes and vulgar words to attract young people in the theater. The movie is produced by Yuvraj Khatri and directed by BB Phuyal and features Sovita Simkhada, Puskar Jung Thapa and Suresh Chaudhary in the leading roles. The censor board has granted adult certificate, not suitable for the viewers 16 years old or younger.
Story:
‘The Last Kiss’ has a suspense story. Movie starts with the death of a couple who had visited a forest for a romantic union. Another couple, Akash and Arya, went to the same forest to celebrate their first anniversary. A gang led by a character named Michael kills Akash but, their attempt to kill Arya was unsuccessful. The whole movie is about how Arya sought revenge from Michael and his gang. I don’t want to spoil the movie viewing experience by unveiling the real suspense of why Aakash was killed.

Love Marriage, yet, Dowry demanded and lead life to end
Who could think that the man whom you trusted so much that you married without taking consent of parents can lead your life to an end? But such thing has happened with Ruby Tandukar of Bijeshwori Kathmandu who suicides after not being able to tolerate the continued torture by her in-laws in a most reprehensible manner on Saturday.
According to police, the postmortem report shows that she was brutally beaten, body was full of injury and backbone was broken. Ruby was found hang in ceiling fan in the room and was taken to Norvic hospital.
Ruby’s parental home was just 50 metre far. Yet they knew it only after villagers inform them. Her husband, Prashant Tandukar has been detained and has accepted that he has beaten her on Friday, according to police.
In 2063, Ruby escaped from her home to get married with Prashant. So, her parents were annoyed with her such marriage that they invited her to parental home only after 7 months of marriage and gave her clothes and some jewellery.
According to her father Rajendra Malakar, she was tortured from 2065, 2 years after her marriage and was able to escape from home to call them. Ruby was in a very pity condition and her clothes were torn that time. So, we sought the help of Maiti Nepal and also complained in police for her safety but to no avail, added Malakar. Rs 50000 cash was also given when Ruby said she was sleeping on floor. Malakar further added that she might have been demanded many more, but, as the marriage was love marriage, she might not have said anything to them.

Citizenship to only three LGBTs
The Supreme Court has already ordered the government on December 21, 2007 to issue citizenship certificates on the basis of gender identity. But yet on this basis, only three third gender persons in the country have been issued certificates
Today in an interaction organized by the Blue Diamond Society, the participants stressed the need of understanding the matter regarding giving legal rights to the gay and lesbian relationships by the bureaucracy.
As mentioned in RSS, President of the Blue Diamond Society and CA member, Sunil Babu Panta, complained that the government employees sought financial benefit and abroad visit while requesting for amendment in the related laws and also added that the third gender people were not given citizenship at the direction of the then Home Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
The two-day interaction has been organized to solicit suggestions from media people regarding the problems faced by the LGBTs (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender/Transsexual people) and the ways of addressing their problems.
