Rekha Thapa cancels Malaysia visit, Remix Dhamaka organizers worried
Actress Rekha Thapa has canceled her visit to Malaysia to participate in Remix Dhamaka 5. The event had Rekha as the main attraction but, the cancelation of Rekha’s visit is expected to have a big impact in the event.

Audio of 'Kollywood' released, again
In a press meet held in Kathmandu, the audio of upcoming movie ‘Kollywood’ was released on December 30, 2012. The music was previously unveiled in a program held in Qatar, and the second release of the CD is believed to be nothing more than a publicity stunt.

In the audio release program Ashok Sharma was the chief guest. The director Navaraj Acharya, actors Aryan Sigdel, ac
tress Priyanka Karki and the producer Tanka Karki jointly unveiled the music CD. The movie features three songs including an item song. Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi is also featured in one of the songs in the movie. -
Rajesh Payal Rai planning to get married?
In a latest report, bachelor singer, Rajesh Payal Rai, has finally made up his mind to get married. While he was in London during his Europe tour, he had a long discussion with his parents who live there about marriage. His parents wanted Rajesh to marry soon and like an obedient son, Rajesh has agreed to get married soon.

Rajesh Payal Rai is currently in Australia and he is doing a live concert in Sydney on Saturday. The concert is being organized by Tamu Samaj, Australia to mark the Losar festival. Another famous singer Anjana Gurung and
comedian dancer Bijay Thapa will also perform with Rajesh in the concert. -
18th Miss Nepal to be held March 15, application deadline Jan 31
In a program organized in Kathmandu, The Hidden Treasure announced the date of the Miss Nepal 2013 – the 18th edition of the biggest beauty contest in Nepal. Miss Nepal, considered the most prestigious and popular of all the beauty contests held in Nepal, is scheduled to be organized on March 15, 2013.

This year, Fanta of Bottelers’ Nepal will also be the co-sponsor with the Hidden Treasure. The winner of the Miss Nepal 2013 will also be appointed the brand ambassador of drink, Fanta, for a year.

Miss Nepal 2013 to be held on Chaitra 2
This year’s Miss Nepal beauty contest is scheduled to be held on Chaitra 2, 2069 (March 16, 2013) in the capital. Last Friday, the organizer of the beauty contest, Hidden Treasure, organized a press conference to inform about the details of upcoming Miss Nepal. The official name of the contest is named ‘Fanta the Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal’ after the co-sponsor Bottlers Nepal.

Further, it has informed that deadline of form submission has been fixed for Magh 18. Form can be collected from the office of Bottlers Nepal at Kupondole or can be downloaded from its official site missnepal.com.np. Interested candidates have to submit form with personal biodata within the deadline. 'Soongava' premiered in KIMFF
On the last day of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) 2012 Nepali movie ‘Soongava – Dance of the Orchids’ was premiered (Nepal premier) amongst various film and fashion personalities. The red carpet event was held in City Hall Kathmandu. The Subarna Thapa’s movie features actresses Diya Maskey and Nisha Adhikari in lead roles as lesbian lovers. The movie was previously named ‘Snow Flowers‘ and was released as ‘Soongava’.

‘Soongava’ will be released in theaters on Poush 20 (January 4, 2013). In addition to Nisha and Diya the also movie features Saugat Malla, Basundhara Bhusal, Sarita Giri, and Menuka Pradhan in main roles. Read the rest of this entry »

4th Digital Film Award held in Kathmandu
A Nepali film award ceremony, 4th Filmykhabar Digital Film Award, organized by Chhaya Chhabi Creation, was held in Kathmandu on December 9, 2012. The best actor and best actress awards were handed over to Saugat Malla (for ‘Loot‘) and Rekha Thapa (for ‘Andaaz‘) respectively. Rekha’s ‘Andaaz’ was declared the best movie this year.

Other winners include Best Director – Ujjwal Ghimire for ‘Andaaz’, Best new actress – Binita Baral for ‘Chapali Height‘, Best New Actor – Samyam Puri for ‘Saayad‘. We will post the full list of winners in a separate post.

KIMFF starting on Dec 7, 'Soongava' to be premiered
The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) 2012 is being organized from December 7 to December 11, 2012 in City Hall (Rastriya Sabha Griha) / Nepal Tourism Board. The festival will showcase more than 60 films from 28 countries in the world. The films include documentaries, fiction, short-films, animation, and experimental films. The event features interactive discussions, photography and alternative book exhibitions, and documentary workshop.

The ticket price of the festival is Rs. 50 per scree
ning (students pay half the price at Rs. 25 per screening). The tickets are available at the venue. One of the attraction of the festival is the Nepal premier of the first lesbian Nepali movie ‘Soongava: dance of the orchids’ by Subarna Thapa. -
Nepali Film award to be held in Dubai on Dec 7
The first Nepali movie award to be organized to in the foreign soil, ‘Box Office Film Award 2012′ is now scheduled to be organized on Friday, December 7, 2012.

The award was previously schedule on October 12, 2012. Because of the unavailability of artists during the festive season, the award ceremony was postponed. At that time, the photos of artists were used in the promotion of the ceremony without the consent of the artists. In a latest news release, the organizers have claimed that more
than 40 artists will arrive from Nepal in Dubai for the event. -
Rajesh Hamal Honored in Pokhara
After returning from the US the top actor of Nepali film industry, Rajesh Hamal was honored in a program organized in Pokhara. In an education fair that started in Pokhara on November 27, 2012, Rajesh Hamal was one of the five people honored.

The people honored include Prof. Kedarbhakta Mathema, Mukundasharan Upadhaya, Ananddev Bhatt, Shaymdash Maharjan and Rajesh Hamal.

Registration open for Miss Teen Nepal 2012
The registration for for Miss T.E.E.N Nepal Pageant Nepal is open and deadline of its submission is 30th November 2012.The final of the beauty contest will be held on 2 February 2013. The title winner of the contest will represent Nepal to an international beauty pageant, Miss T.E.E.N Pageant, 2013 to be held in Houston Texas USA from June 24-29, 2013. The full form of T.E.E.N is Teens Exemplifying Excellence Nationally.

Miss Nepal 2005 Sugarika KC marrying on Nov 30
Miss Nepal 2005, Sugarika KC, is getting married on November 30, 2012. The lucky young man to marry Sugarika is Sanat Neupane an ex-kantipur publication employee.

Although Sugarika had known Sanat for some time, the marriage is told to be an arranged one and they didn’t have an affair before the marriage. The wedding ceremony is going to be held in Universal Café in Nakhhu in traditional fashion. The ceremony will be engagement and marriage at the same time.

Kathmandu International Theater Festival started
Kathmandu International Theater Festival 2012 started on November 23 at Mandala Theatre, Anamnagar. The festival will end on 7th December 2012. In the event organized by Aarohan Gurukul theater group various plays from different countries will be featured at different times. The participants have come from countries like Estonia, France, India, Iran, Norway, Russia and USA.

Musical concert with resolution writing
A ‘resolution for change’ program with a musical concert was organized by Kantipur Media Group today afternoon (November 10) at the Tundikhel grounds in Kathmandu. The program named “Pariwartan” with the slogan “One Nepali: One Resolution” was managed by Party Nepal and was live telecasted in Kantipur TV and Radio Kantipur.

Five of the famous Nepali musical bands, Robin and The New Revolution, Mukti and Revival, Mt 8848, The Shadows and Awaj Band presented different songs including patriotic songs in the 7 hours long program. ‘Mantra’, a rock and roll band from Darjiling also presented its famous song-‘Bir Gorkhali’. Hemant Rana, Sugam Pokhrel and Yogeshwor Amatya were also among the performers.
There were 15 different resolution boards of 4 ft height and 20 ft breadth in the area for the public to write their resolution. Kantipur Media Group signed a resolution – “Giving continuity to the Pariwartan Movement, Kantipur Media Group will work for social welfare.” Famous Comedian Deepak Raj Giri wrote his resolution – “he will follow Traffic Rules and will spend 10% of income in social work.”

A bicycle rally on Nepal Sambat New Year
A bicycle rally is being organized in Kathmandu to mark the 1133 Newari New Year on November 14, 2012 (Kartik 29). The bicycle rally named "Cycle Utsav Nepal Sambat 1133" starts at Basantapur, Kathmandu and ends at Bhaktapur Durbarsquare while passing Patan Durbarsquare on it’s way.

The event organized by World Cyclist Foundation Nepal on the leadership of World Cyclist/Mt. Everest summiteer Pushkar Shah.
The rally is organized to celebrate happiness, peace and help in saving the world heritage sites in the the occasion of Ne
pal Sambat 1133 new year. The event is expected to be useful in create awareness in the conservation of world heritage sites in Nepal by developing bicycling culture.
