Morning shows in theater banned – to stop college students from bunking classes?
Theaters in Nepal are banned to have morning shows, starting before 11 AM. The Film Development Board of Nepal (FDB) has decided to act as moral police to stop the college kids from bunking classes to go to the movie theaters. But, are the movie theaters the only reason college kids bunk classes?
How about the restaurants? Public parks? or what about the shopping malls where kids can be seen in their uniforms.
Why is it a bad idea ?

Voip and Internet Banda – is it a new banda trend?
This is absurd ! Both Internet outage and government action against ISPs are absolutely unnecessary.Let me first talk about call by-pass:
I have told before – call by-pass is not a problem at all. The government blocked some VOIP websites. But, it couldn’t do anything to Google when it introduced free call to US and Canada.
Now, why is the police against some ISPs accusing them of using their services to call by-pass?
If it is cheaper to call Nepal due to illegal call bypass, why is it bad?
Because it hurts the profit of large voice operators in Nepal and robs the government of resulting tax revenue. If the large voice operators can’t keep up with the new technology – why should the government protect them?
The telecom operators should embrace internet and VOIP as new technology and find new revenue avenues in them instead of trying to stop them from coming in.
Next, why are ISPs punishing their own customers for government action?

Be careful, it's Nepal
It is not easy being a Nepali and living in Nepal. A few cases to ponder about:
Hospital (Has … Pita … La)How many times you have read news? About vandalized hospitals and doctors threatened by the family members of the deceased; just because, their loved one has just died in that hospital?
Hospital is where people die!
If you do a survey, you will be surprised by the number of people who die in hospitals. More people die in hospital than they do in their own home. That is because; hospital is a place where people go for treatment of their diseases. Some of those diseases are curable and others are incurables. There is no guarantee that everybody recovers from the illness. Then, why do these people blame the doctors all the time? It is because the deceased person was young and has not seen the life? Will vandalizing hospitals and thwarting doctors solve our problem?

4 things to do after Kumar Kancha tragedy
Extensive effort to save Kumar Kancha proved to be unsuccessful and he died at the age of 54 on January 17, 2011. The sad truth, he lost all of his monetary earnings during the treatment and had to beg for help in his last days, from his death bed.A lot of people had done their very best to help in collecting fund to help in his treatment.
Special mention : Donation collection drive one of my friends in the UK, Lex Limbu, came to an abrupt end when Kancha died. He sent a total of £800 GBP (NRs. 91,600) collected till date via Jharana Bajracharya to the fmaily of Kumar Kancha. It is really encouraging to see young people like Lex dedicating their time in helping artists in Nepal. Thank you Lex!

Dirty politics – Constituent Assembly membership sold for 1.6m per year
It was an open truth that the political parties had made the Constituent Assembly (CA)a very profitable business with the seats on sale during the 2008 election. The one who pays the most got the ticket in the poll and others "purchased" the nomination seats later. At least a dozen businessmen had managed to get in the CA to do their business there. An example on how those people could get the ticket from the political parties surfaced when one of the CA member refused to pay the agreed sum to one of the political parties.
The CA member representing Nepal Janta Dal, Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Prasad Agrawal had agreed to pay 91% of all the remuneration and bonus received from the CA to the party. Apart from that, he had also agreed to pay the party Rs. 1 million every year. Nayapatrika has published the agreement document (attached) between the party and Agrawal. The party president of Janta Dal, Haricharan Sah released the agreement letter after the relationship between Sah and Agrawal became sour.
