One of the world’s busiest airport? No, it is Lukla.
Posted on January 23rd, 2010 No commentsI came across a 2007 video in YouTube featuring Nepali airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla showing interesting plane maneuverings.
Lukla airport has a very short (475 m) runway and a steep runway slope (12 degree slope) and a scary drop off (700m) at the end of the runway. The airport might be one of the high traffic airports at such an altitude but busiest in the world … ? No way! The title of this post actually came from the uploader’s comment for the video.

If you don’t know how big the airport is, there is another good example featuring Airbus 380 on the tiny runway (a flight simulator model). The runway is wide enough just to fit the body of the huge plane.
Lukla airport is a very important airport in Nepal as it is also the gateway to the top of the world, Mt. Everest.
