Rajesh Hamal to replace Nikhil Upreti in Mato
Nikhil is unwilling to return back to Kathmandu and did dubbing of a movie in Mumbai. Although Nikhil Upreti did his best not to leave any unfinished projects; there are reports of problems to the directors and producers of various movies due to Nikhil’s absence.
For a movie he did dubbing in Mumbai last week and there is report of Rajesh Hamal replacing Nikhil in a movie named ‘Mato’. The director of the movie Kishor Subba told that Nikhil promised to act in the movie but he didn’t show up in the shooting. After a wait for sometime, Subba decided to sign-in Rajesh Hamal for the role.

Shot in 2K digital format, the budget of the movie is Rs 5.5 million. Kohi Mero is about four friends who go their own ways following certain philosophies and circumstances of life. Nembang says that the chemistry between these four is what makes this movie going.

‘Girls’ controversy in new heights
The not-so-decent poster photo of Jenisha caused controversy during the inauguration of the movie, “Girls”. When the proposed lead actress, Jenisha KC, accused the producers of attaching her head to somebody else’s torso another model came to rescue by claiming the torso was hers. The model, Baby Thapa, also accused producer/director Sunilkumar Yadav (Prince) for doctoring the poster without her knowledge.
Baby Thapa told Saptahik weekly that she was promised the role of lead actress in the movie and the photo was taken in the studio of cybersansar.com. He however later declined the role due to pricing dispute.

In summary, the year 2009 wasn’t so good for Nepali film industry. Many of the movies screened in 2009 couldn’t profit due to lack of opportunity to get theater in time and low turn-up of viewers. In total 32 movies were released in 2009. It is told that only a couple out of the 32 movies could earn profit. Most of the film halls all over the country are now equipped with digital technology and are hence capable of showing new Hindi movies. As Hindi movies are more profitable than Nepali movies for the film halls, Nepali movies had to wait in long queue for screening them in cinema halls of their choice.
Most profitable movies of 2009 were ‘Kaha Bhetiyala’ by produced by actor Shri Krishna Shrestha and ‘Silsila’ by CP Poudel.
