Nepal Film Day 2011 to be addressed by PM, Rajesh Hamal and Rekha

The Nepal Film Board has unveiled the details of the celebration of Nepal Film Day on September 18, 2011 (Asoj 1, 2068 BS). In the event will start with a special music in the morning (Prabhat feri), various programs in the day and a party in the evening. All the theaters accross Nepal will do Dipawali by lighting lights and fireworks.  The day is also planned to be celebrated as a weekly program by forming a committee to manage it.

The current schedule is to ask the new prime minister Baburam Bhattarai to address the program. The leading actor and actress Rajesh Hamal and Rekha Thapa are also scheduled address the program. 

The Nepal Film Board had decided to celebrate Nepal Film Day on Ashoj 1 every year, in the meeting of the Board members, held on August 4. The Film Day is expected to be helpful in the development of Nepali movie industry.

The month of Ashoj has a significance in Nepali movie industry. The first Nepali movie Satya Harishchandra was started on  Ashoj 22, 2007 BS and was released on Bhadra 30, 2008 BS (A day before Ashoj 1). The first Nepali movie to be made in Nepal, Aama was released on Ashoj 15, 2022. The most important festival in Nepal, Dashain also usually falls in Ashoj; so, it is the time of fun and celebration.

 

In the meeting, the board decided to form a Committee to develop Pokhara as a Film City, in future. The committee formed on the leadership of Uday Subba will visit the city for the field study and will recommend the necessary steps to be taken by the board. The board decided to donate Rs. 50,000 to film personality, Rabi Khadka, who is being treated in critical condition. The board also decided to give old-age pension to the film personality Hari Prasad Rimal.
