One of the most talked about film of Nepali film industry, ‘Password’ features Bollywood actress Sunny Leone in a song. The movie doesn’t feature her in any role but she had just danced in a song. That made it so popular. Sunny Leone was also invited to the premier of the movie. But, box office collection wasn’t promising.

Anmol’s well known movie featuring Aditi Budhathoki for the first time in Nepali film industry, ‘Kri’ is released online. The action movie is directed written and edited by Surendra Poudel. Although the movie had gained a lot of media attention, the box office collection wasn’t impressive. That was despite of huge investment and featuring Anmol KC in the leading role.

About ‘Rani’

This is a trianglular love story movie featuring Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi and Anoop Bikram Shahi in leading role. Manish Sundar Shrestha is the debut actor in the film. Malina and Anoop were having an affair with each other and were separated a while ago. When they signed up in this film, there was an expectation that they will get together while working in the film. But, that didn’t seem to be happening.

Kri release delayed, Anmol KC film won’t release in Tihar

The Kartik 3 release of ‘Kri’ has been delayed because of the delay in shooting. In the first look, the release date of Kartik 3 was mentioned. But, according to insiders, there is very little chance of the completion by that date.

The shooting of the movie in Manang is uncertain because of the adverse weather in the area. After the completion of the shooting in Dhampus, the film team has returned back to Kathmandu. The team will head toward Manang after the weather improves. The shooting is expected to complete after the shooting in the remote location.

About ‘How Funny’

A movie featuring well known actors like Dayahang Rai, Priyanka Karki and Keki Adhikari is the debut movie of the female director Nilu Doma Sherpa. Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba had debuted as the producer in the movie (report on Malvika’s debut). The movie on comedy theme was however not liked by the viewers of the movie.

The movie also features journalist Rishi Dhakala (report). The movie is made under Tiny But Big Pictures banner. The story and the concept is that of the director Nilu Doma Sherpa, script is written by Shan Basnyat, executive prducer is Malvika Subba, choreographer is Renasha Rai etc.

Friday Release – Love Sasha, King and Shabda released on Thursday

Three new movies have broken the tradition of releasing the new movies on Friday and released on Thursday. The movies released on January 12, 2016 include Keki Adhikari’s movie ‘Love Sasha’, Nikhil Upreti’s movie ‘King’ and Saugat Malla’s movie ‘Shabda’. All three movies are widely expected movies by the Nepali movie fans.

Love Sasha

A love story movie featuring actress Keki Adhikari, Ashif Shah and Karma Shakya is directed by Prachanda Man Shrestha. At the premier held on Tuesday, the movie had received positive feedback from the viewers. The movie is told to be a feel good and smooth love story.

Malina Joshi and Anoop Bikram Shahi to be featured together in Rani

A new movie, ‘Rani’ was recently announced featuring former Miss Nepal Malina Joshi and Anoop Bikram Shahi in leading role. This on-screen couple, Anoop Bikram Shahi and Malina Joshi, used to be in a relationship a while ago. After being separated for a while now, they seem to patched up and are together again.

The movie featuring Malina and Anoop, ‘Rani’ is being directed by Dayaram Dahal. The first scene of the movie was shot in a program held in New Baneshowr. The movie bing made under Jaya Ma Ambe banner features Dhruba Koirala, Hima Koirala, Ramchandra Adhikari, Kishor Jha, Subash Gajurel, Rabi Sharma etc. with Malina and Anoop Bikram Shahi. The movie will also feature actor Shiva Shrestha’s relative Manish Shrestha.

Friday Release – Bir Bikram and Chapali Height (its Thursday Release instead)

Two new Nepali movies have released on Thursday, August 18, 2016 a day before the usual release dates on Friday. The movies are released on the holiday, Rakshya Bandhan. Two awaited movies ‘Chapali Height 2’ and ‘Bir Bikram’ are released to take advantage of the holiday. The film producers association had loosened the previous requirements to release new movies only in Fridays and allowed to release on days others than Friday on festival times. Based on the release of films in other days, other film makers have also announced release date that don’t fall on non-Fridays.

The movie ‘Chapali Height 2’ is a sequel of a hit movie ‘Chapali Height’ released three years ago. The sequel however doesn’t feature any actors of the original movie. The new movie is made Aasma Films banner and is produced by Arjun Kumar. The producer and the director, Dipendra K Khanal were same in both the sequels.  Continue reading

Music Video Award 2016, film actors and actresses nominated (full nomination list)

Although there used to be various awards for Nepali music, a new category of award has emerged – Music video award. To evaluate the technicians and artists in the newly emerging field, award nominations for the new Music Video Award has been released. The award will be awarded in three categories, namely:

  • Category A – Music – Best Vocal (Male and Female), Best Vocal Pop (Male and Female), Best Lyrics, Best Music, Best Arrangement and Best Lok Dohori
  • Category B – Video – Music Video, Video Director, Actor, Actress, Choreography, cameraperson, editor
