On the first day of the new year 2074, three new movies are released in theatre. All three movies released on April 14, 2017 are the most awaited movies in the film idustry. Nikhil Upreti and Priyanka Karki starrer ‘Radhe’, Dayahang Rai and Keki Adhikari starrer ‘Ghampani’ and Swastima Khadka and Suraj Pandey film ‘Love Love Love’ are made by well known producers and directors.
The movie ‘Radhe’ is features Nikhil Upreti as an unaccounted for person. Actress Priyanka Karki has romanced with Nikhil Upreti for the first time in the movie. Priyanka Karki had fainted while shooting for a song of the movie.
‘Radhe’ is produced by Sushil Pokhrel and is directed by Jagadishwor Thapa.
The actress who debuted in Alok Nembang’s last movie ‘Ajhai Pani’, Surakshya Panta has decided to return back to acting. After a few years of absence the civil engineer actress has completed the shooting of ‘Suskera’ and is preparing herself for another movie titled ‘Dhanapati’.
The movie ‘Dhanapati’ is being produced by the team that produced superhit movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’. The movie featuring Khagendra Lamichhane in leading role with feature Surakshya opposite to Khagendra and will be directed by Dipendra K Khanal. For the first time in the history of Nepali film industry, a film that won the Best Movie Award, has returned back the award to the organizer. In the NEFTA 2016 award held in Dubai, UAE, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was awarded the Best Film Award. But, when the Best Director award was handed over to another movie, the director Dipendra K Khanal refused to go to the stage to receive the award.
Which is the Best Film of 2016?
According to a report, Dipendra K Khanal took the award to the NEFTA office on December 27, 2016 and returned it. That was probably the first time any award was returned back to the organizer. Now, the confusion on which is the Best Film in the NEFTA 2016.

About ‘Pashupati Prasad’
One of the most successful Nepali movies of the year, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ had also won numerous awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director and actor’s awards including the National Films Award. The movie written by Khagendra Lamichhane also features him in leading role.
The movie is made on a story of a youth from a village who comes to Kathmandu to fulfill the dreams of his deceased parents. As he lives in the Pashupati temple area, he is named Pashupati Prasad. The movie is about the struggle of Pashupati Prasad. One of the three applicants of Oscars Foreign Films nominations (‘Kalo Pothi’ was however sent to the Awards)

In an event held in Kathmandu on September 8, 2016 actress Namrata Shrestha had been awarded the fourth award for her role in ‘Classic’.

Two new Nepali movies have released on Thursday, August 18, 2016 a day before the usual release dates on Friday. The movies are released on the holiday, Rakshya Bandhan. Two awaited movies ‘Chapali Height 2’ and ‘Bir Bikram’ are released to take advantage of the holiday. The film producers association had loosened the previous requirements to release new movies only in Fridays and allowed to release on days others than Friday on festival times. Based on the release of films in other days, other film makers have also announced release date that don’t fall on non-Fridays.
Chapali Height 2
The movie ‘Chapali Height 2’ is a sequel of a hit movie ‘Chapali Height’ released three years ago. The sequel however doesn’t feature any actors of the original movie. The film award being distributed by Gopi Krishna Movies, NFDC National Film Award 2016 nomination was released in a program held in Kathmandu. The Award ceremony will be held in Ashoj. It’s interesting two movies released on the same day – ‘Premgeet’ and ‘Classic’ were nominated in the most number of awards – 11 categories each. ‘Pashupati Prasad’ and ‘Woda Number 6’ each were nominated in 8 different categories and ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ was nominated in 7 categories.

The Film Artists Association of Nepal (FAAN) organized the first ever film awards in Kathmandu on July 2, 2016. In the award ceremony ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was awarded the best movie of the year. The awards were awarded in 24 different categories. The prime minister, KP Oli, was the chief guest of the event.
The actor and the actress of ‘Classic’ Aryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha were awarded the best actor and actress of the year in the ceremony. The director and writer of the best movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’, Dipendra K Khanal and Bipin Karki were awarded the best director and the best writer respectively.

Two new movies have released in theater today, on January 29, 2016. The movie by the team of ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ famed Khagendra Lamichane, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ seems to be similar character based movie. Another release ‘Regfuge’ features Jiwan Luitel in leading role.
After the success of Khagendra Lamichane’s movie ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’, his movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was awaited by his fans. A premier show of the movie was held on Thursday among artists, journalists and guests. The movie is about a guy who had gone to Kathmandu to earn money from a remote village after the death of his parents. The movie directed by Dipendra K Khanal is shot mostly in Pashupati area featuring Khagendra in leading role. Actress Barsha Siwakoti, Bipin Karki, Prakash Ghimire and Rabindra Singh Baniya are featured in main characters in the movie. The movie made under the joint banner of Tuki Films and Dipendra K Khanal Production. The director, Dipendra K Khanal had previously directed successful movies like ‘Chapali Height’, ‘Jhole’, ‘The Yug Dekhi Yug Samma’ and ‘Dharma’ (all these movies are available to watch in xnepali).
In an event held in Kathmandu on November 25, 2015, the first trailer of the upcoming movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was released. The movie written and acted by ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ famed Tulke – Khagendra Lamichane, in the leading role, is featured as Pashupati Prasad in the upcoming movie. The first 3D movie in the Nepali film industry, Nepali movie ‘Vigilante’ is a presentation of Ashma Films. The movis is directed by the director of hit movie ‘Chapali Height’ (watch ‘Chapali Height’ here).
The thriller movie features the screenplay of Shan Basnyat, cinematography of Purushottam Pradhan. We had written the review of the movie – read the review of ‘Vigilante’ here. Our recommendation in the review was to keep the expectation low while watching the movie.
Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has announced that she and her home production movies won’t participate in any Nepali movies award ceremony. She has accused the organizers of manipulating them to award the films of their choice based on personal influences and money.
Rekha has termed all the award ceremonies in Nepal as ‘Room Awards’.
This is not the first time Rekha has expressed her dissatisfaction. Last year, at this time Rekha had accused National Award organizers of asking money for award. She didn’t even go to receive one award she won at that time. Rekha was also accused of not participating in an award ceremony when she couldn’t persuade the organizers to hand her the Best Actress Award.

The ‘Jholey’ producer and director have expressed their surprise on the nomination of the movie in INFA 2014 awards.
In the press release signed by producer Teken Khadka and director Dipendra K Khanal, states that the movie team was not informed about the the participation in the award and they had to know about the nomination through media. They have asked the organizers to remove the nominations from the movie in the award.
