For the first time in the history of Nepali film industry, a film that won the Best Movie Award, has returned back the award to the organizer. In the NEFTA 2016 award held in Dubai, UAE, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was awarded the Best Film Award. But, when the Best Director award was handed over to another movie, the director Dipendra K Khanal refused to go to the stage to receive the award.
Which is the Best Film of 2016?
According to a report, Dipendra K Khanal took the award to the NEFTA office on December 27, 2016 and returned it. That was probably the first time any award was returned back to the organizer. Now, the confusion on which is the Best Film in the NEFTA 2016.

Model and Artists:
Director Sudarshan Thapa announced a new movie titled ‘Ma Euta Geet Gauchhu’ in a program held in Dubai on Friday, September 16. The movie named after the title song of hit movie of the year ‘Premgeet’ and will feature actress Pooja Sharma and Paul Shah in leading role.
A few days ago, the producer of ‘Premgeet’, Santosh Sen had announced the making of the sequel of the movie ‘Premgeet 2’. The biggest omission of the sequel were the actress Pooja Sharma and the director Sudarshan Thapa. Santosh Sen and Sudarshan Thapa are not in good terms these days so the sequel ‘Premgeet 2’ will be directed by the scriptwriter of ‘Premgeet’ Ramsharan Pathak.
As both movies ‘Premgeet 2’ and ‘Ma Euta Geet Gauchhu’ have borrowed the title from the movie ‘Premgeet’ both seem like the sequel of the movie. Let me compare the two –
||Ma Euta Geet Gauchhu
|lead – Pooja Sharma, Pradeep Khadka
|Director – Sudarshan Thapa
|Producer – Santosh Sen
| (New addition)
||lead Actress – Aslesha Thakuri
||Lead actor – Paul Shah
Two of actress Richa Singh Thakuri‘s movies were released in consecutive weeks. A couple of weeks earlier, ‘Maya Gara La’ featuring Richa in lead role was released and this week, ‘Khudkilo’ was released.
‘Maya Gara La’ proved to be another loss-making Nepali movie and ‘Khudkilo’ is going destined to similar performance in theater. That means, Richa’s future in Nepali film industry is not as bright as one might expect.
Nepali movie ‘Producer’ is going to release in Dubai before it is released in Nepal on Magh 17 (January 31, 2014). The movie will run for a month in Dubai for Nepali people living in the capital of UAE. According to the producer Jyotiraj Rai, the movie will be released with the help of the non-resident Nepali.

The first Nepali movie award to be organized to in the foreign soil, ‘Box Office Film Award 2012’ is now scheduled to be organized on Friday, December 7, 2012.
The award was previously schedule on October 12, 2012. Because of the unavailability of artists during the festive season, the award ceremony was postponed. At that time, the photos of artists were used in the promotion of the ceremony without the consent of the artists. In a latest news release, the organizers have claimed that more
than 40 artists will arrive from Nepal in Dubai for the event.
It was advertised as the first Nepali movie award to be organized in foreign soil and was scheduled to be held on October 12, 2012. But apparently, the organizers were not prepared at all, and the ‘huge’ event is now postponed. We are not sure if we need to take it as ‘canceled’ or not.
The reasons cited for the postponement of the event include:
1. Organizer RK Subedi’s mother got critically ill (our get well soon wish) and had to be hospitalized. It seems the event was one man show. When one of the organizer is busy, the whole show need to be postponed.
2. The artists like Rajesh Hamal, Karishma Manandhar, Dipak Limbu, Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula, Baboo Bogati, Mandabi Tripathi, Yes Kumar etc. refused to attend the event. It’s odd, how can the organizers feature the artists in their banner even before they had confirmed their attendance.
