Malvika Subba, Riyaz Shrestha Divorce Story in 12 Points & biography

Malvika Subba, the Miss Nepal of 2002 finally revealed that she was divorced 2 years ago. This was a surprise revelation, although she had previously hinted about it. That still was unbelievable as a lot of youth consider her their idol and a lot of couple also wanted her to be ideal for a successful couple.

But the truth is unpleasant:

Here are 12 thing’s about Malviaka’s divorce case:

  1. Malvika Subba had been the host of various seasons of couple love-story interview show Jeevan Sathi in Himalaya TV. She herself was a guest with her then-husband Riyaj Shrestha during her pregnancy. That was the time they had started to drift away – during her pregnancy.
  2. Malvika and Riyaj were in love-relationship for 3 years before they finally decided to get married in 2069 BS
  3. The marriage was intercaste marriage – a Subba of Mongol origin and Shrestha of Kathmandu. She has indicated that that might be one of the reasons for the failure of their marriage.
  4. Marriage between Malvika’s parents (Father a Subba and Mother a Brahmin) was also inter-caste. That marriage parted her parents from their respective parents (Malvika’s grandparents).
  5.  In an interview, Malvika had told that the cultural and traditional beliefs had caused daily headaches in her life.
  6. When their son Zyair (spelled his father Riyaz) was born, the traditional and cultural difference made it difficult for her to adjust in the family. That was despite of her Laws great help in raising her son.
  7. The relationship between Riyaz and Malvika deteriorated during her pregnancy, and they were always quarreling.
  8. After birth, first 6 months was the toughest in her life. In the first 4 months she devoted 16-hours of her day to take care of the child. After two hears of her motherhood with her husband’s parents it became unbearable, and she decided to live on her own.
  9. Her decision to live on her own was not accepted by her maternal family. So, she had rented a room to live with her son near her husband’s home. That was how she kept the son near his father and his grandparents.
  10. After 4 years of living alone with her son, she decided to get divorced.
  11. After divorce, Malvika and Riyaz are co-parenting the child. She also claims that she hasn’t taken any property from her ex-husband.
  12. Malvika kept the divorce a secret from the media for two years and finally shared the experience in actress Priyanka Karki’s YouTube channel.

Malvika Subba Divorce, a surprising revelation by Malvika herself

Malvika Subba has indicated that she is divorced and is raising her child as a single mother. Another important revelation in a program held last week in Kathmandu was that the marriage had fallen apart during her pregnancy in 2015/16. When she was pregnant her husband wouldn’t sleep with her and she was left alone to worry.

According to her statement, the relationship worsened after the birth of their son. It seems, she decided to separate take care of her 6-months-old son all by herself in her parental home. Because of the stress at that time, she told about going to therapy.

In that process, her friend Nilu Dolma helped Malvika with the moral support (Nilu Dolma died the next year at the age of 33). Nilu was the director of the movie Malvika produced – “How Funny” featuring Keki Adhikari, Nisha Adhikari and Priyanka Karki in leading roles.

About ‘How Funny’

A movie featuring well known actors like Dayahang Rai, Priyanka Karki and Keki Adhikari is the debut movie of the female director Nilu Doma Sherpa. Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba had debuted as the producer in the movie (report on Malvika’s debut). The movie on comedy theme was however not liked by the viewers of the movie.

The movie also features journalist Rishi Dhakala (report). The movie is made under Tiny But Big Pictures banner. The story and the concept is that of the director Nilu Doma Sherpa, script is written by Shan Basnyat, executive prducer is Malvika Subba, choreographer is Renasha Rai etc.

Malvika Subba Biography

Born on July 19, 1981, Malvika Subba was the third child of her parents. After two boys, her mother gave birth to Malvika in her 40s on the pressure of her father for a daughter. Malvika’s father a Subba was a police officer and her mother Sashikala was a Brahmin. In their time, intercaste marriage was a tabbo. That was the reason, Sashikala’s parents cut-off their ties with the daughter after she married Malvika’s father.

Nepali TV celebrity, Miss Nepal 2002, Malvika Subba gave birth to a son in April 2016. In less than 6 months of her pregnancy, Malvika Subba miraculously lost 20 kg of her weight. It is a usual trend that new moms gain a lot of weight after giving birth to their child. One of the latest example is actress Richa Ghimire. Richa Ghimire gave birth to her third child, a daughter in the USA.

In an interview, Malvika has told that she didn’t do any exercise to lose the weight. All she did was reduction in weight gaining practice. She didn’t eat high fatty diet – that is common practice in Nepal. She drank a lot of water and didn’t sleep in day time. The only exercise she got was by tending the little boy.

UPDATE: Dashain has finished today. I collected 100s of photos of celebrities. But, posting them in the page would not be that much interesting to the most of the site visitors. So, I collected the photos of 40+ Nepali actress celebrating Dashain this year and prepared a video (I deleted the video – nobody watched it).

I also prepared a video about the fist Dashain of two Miss Nepal sons. In addition to the sons of Jharana Bajracharya and Malvika Subba, the daughter of actress Richa Ghimire also celebrated her Dashain for the first time in her life.

Mom Actresses in Nepali film industry – Karishma Manandhar to Sumina Ghimire

I wrote his article in May of 2016 – to mark the Nepali Mother’s Day. I am re-writing this article because there are three more updates in the article :

  • Sumina Ghimire gave birth to her daughter in December 25, 2015. Sumina Ghimire had gone into hiding after marrying, so it took me nine months to know about her childbirth. (photo and a video report is attached.)
  • Simpal Khanal is also expecting a new child soon. Although Simpal had also gone into hiding after marrying a UK resident guy, she had shared the photo of her big belly recently. (a video report is attached – read more about Simpal’s pregnancy here)
  • Sumi Khadka is another actress who is pregnant now. Sumi had announced the pregancy on September 26, 2016. Khadka, a former Miss Nepal, was also an actress in a number of movies. Sumi had married Chiran Basnyat in 2015. (A photo is attached.)

Late Neha Pun (Yoruna Pun) remembered by actresses in Kathmandu

Nepali actresses and others gathered at Maitighar Mandala on the evening of February 6 to remember late Neha Pun, the Magar film actress raped and killed in Pokhara. At the time when the murderer is yet to be identified the actresses and model in Kathmandu have gathered to pay homage to the deceased soul. The remembrance event called by actresses Richa Sharma was supported by the actresses and models.

Malvika Subba and Jharana Bajracharya announced their pregnancy (video blog)

Two ex-Miss Nepal – Miss Nepal 1997 Jharana Bajracharya and Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba have announced their pregnancy at the same time. Both chose Instagram, a social networking site, to break the news to their fans.

Malvika had waited five and a half months into her pregnancy to announce the news. Sharing a photo of herself with her husband Malvika wrote: “Five years of being together and married in between, we finally decided on being parents again (another story here but maybe for later). And here we are – post-earthquake, post my PCOS and vitamin-D deficiency, in our 2nd trimester, having tried so hard to hide it for the past 5 and half months. It feels so good to share this news publicly as now I can show off my ever growing belly and be healthy and happy.”

Miss Nepal 2012 Shristi Shrestha to debut in Jaar

Nepali film industry is to get a new actress, a very beautiful one – Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha. The model who managed to be one of the top 20 in Miss World 2012, top 8 in Miss Beach Beauty, top 10 in Multimedia and top 10 in dancing skills in the Miss World competition, might bring in something new in the Nepali film industry.

When we talk about the history of Miss Nepal as actresses, none have actually been successful. The last Miss Nepal actress, Malina Joshi is struggling after the failure of her debut movie. Another miss Nepal, Malvika Subba wasn’t successful either. Although Jharana Bajracharya is the most successful actress among the ex-Miss Nepals, she hasn’t been able to leave any marks in the industry. With this history, Shristi’s journey to success as an actress is not going to be easy. Actress Rekha Thapa was one of the contestants of Miss Nepal 1990, but she didn’t win any titles.

Celebrity gossips in Ncell Literature Festival

On the last day of Ncell Literature Festival 2014 Nepali film personalities Priyanka Karki, Malvika Subba and director Nilu Doma Sherpa talked about celebrity gossips. They expressed their dissatisfaction about the media being too sneaky and unaware of their personal privacy.

Talking in the event, Malvika told that she gets scared by some of the media gossips. She told, celebrity and media should have been close buddies but when media publishes some personal information without our knowledge it might affect the personality of the person involved.

Miss Nepal 2002 and model Malvika Subba is debuting as a filmmaker with Nisha Adhikari, Keki Adhikari, Priyanka Karki, Dayahang Rai and Anup Bikram Shahi starrer movie ‘How Funny’. The movie to be directed by Nilu Doma Sherpa is also made on her story and concept. The script of the movie is written by Shan Basnet.

It’s not only the a movie with funny name, the banner is also named funny – Tiny but Big Pictures. The crews (and the colorful name) indicate that the movie is going to be somewhat related to modeling and fashion industry.

Malvika Subba to comeback to television with a reality shot

Actress and ex-Miss Nepal, Malvika Subba, is coming back to the television with a reality show to be produced by a NGO. The show titled ‘Idea Studio’ has a theme of converting an idea to an industry.

In a program held in Soltae Crown Plaza, actresses and models unveiled Hyundai’s new model vehicle Grand i10. The car costing in the range of Rs. 2.3 to 2.7 million is a new version of the popular model i10 in Nepali market.
