Deepawali, Laxmi Puja 2014 Photos of Nepali film artists (update)

Deapawali is the festival of lights and color. Nepali artists celebrate the festival with a lot of jest and enthusiasm. Laxmi, the goddess of wealth is worshipped along with money and wealth. Oil lights and electric lights are lighted in and around the house.

In a new trend, colorful rangoli are drawn with depiction of Laxmi’s feet on rice flour to guide the goddess of wealth into the house.  Here are some photos of the Deepawali celebration in the homes of some of the Nepali film artists.

Chha Ekan Chha artists and technicians offered bonuses

A success party of the hit movie ‘Chha Ekan Chha‘ was organized in Kathamndu to appreciate the effort of the technicians and the artists involved in the movie. The movie released some 8 months ago was liked by the movie goers.

In the program held in the evening of August 24 the producer Deepak Raj Giri distributed bonus amount to the artists and technicians of the movie. In the program he told, "Everybody from spot boy to the director have made it possible to make the blockbuster movie." He told, although the bonus amount is small, he told that was the way he want to appreciate everybody.

The 10th edition of Cinemandu: screening of ‘Masan’ is going to be held in Kathmandu on January 23, 2014.

The top comedians of television – Deepak Raj Giri, Jitu Nepal, Sitaram Kattel, Kedar Ghimire, Shiva Hari Poudel – each have the potential to make an extremely funny movie. But, the movie featuring all of them in leading role – ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ – doesn’t have anything that impressive in terms of story.

Released on January 10, 2014 the movie ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ is produced jointly by comedy serial ‘Tito Satya’ team comprising of Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula and Nirmal Sharma (Gaida). The ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ film unit organized a press meet at Union House, Anamnagar, Kathmandu to announce the release date of the movie. The movie is scheduled to release on Poush 26 (January 10, 2013).

Talking about he movie, the producer and the writer of the movie, Deepak Raj Giri told that the movie is a totally entertainment movie. He promised, “The movie will bind the viewers in seat for 2:15 hours.

‘Saayad’ wins best film award in National Film Award 2069

With 7 awards, Nepali movie ‘Saayad‘ won the best film award in the National Film Award 2069. The film award ceremony was held on the occasion of 50-years of Nepali movies at Tribhuvan Army Club, Sundhara.

In addition to receiving ‘Hira’ Best Movie award, and ‘Kusume Rumal‘ Best Professional Movie Award, following ‘Saayad’ crew members were awarded five other National awards:

Hamesha premiered in a jail, releasing on 12 April with Notebook

Movies are usually premiered in theaters and hotels but, this time, a movie is premiered in a most unusual place, a jail. Rekha Thapa‘s upcoming movie, ‘Hamesha’ was premiered among 600 convicted criminals in the jail in Dillibazar. Nepali Congress leader Khum Bahadur Khadka who is serving his jail terms was also among the viewers.

Nir Shah making a movie on Masan by Gopalprasad Rimal

The actor and director Nir Shah has started making an art movie, based on the story of late Gopalprasad Rimal’s story "Masan". Gopal Prasad is a noted poet and playwright who ushered in a new era in Nepali literature. The drama, Masan is also taught as one of the electives in schools in Nepal and India.

The shooting of the movie has started on Ashad 1, 2068. Nir Shah had been preparing the set, representing the old setting of the story, for the movie.
