The sequel of superhit movie ‘Loot’, ‘Loot 2’ is in making. An item song of the movie titled ‘Laijau Thamel Bazar …’ was released on October 22 featuring a new item girl, Alisha Rai, as Sundari. The song composed by Kali Prasad Baskota features the voices of Kali Prasad Baskota, Mina Niraula and Bhanubhakta Dhakal, and is written jointly by Ektaare and Kali Prasad Baskota.
The sequel features most of the cast and the crews of the original movie. In the original movie, ‘Loot’ the item song titled ‘Udhreko Choli ..’ had become very popular. The song had established actress Sushma Karki as an item girl. It is to be seen if Alisha Rai will follow the success of Sushma Karki. ‘Loot’ is credited for rescuing the Nepali movie industry when it was in its worst time in the history.
If common saying is to be believed, wives are the other half of a person. We know the actors very much, but it seems, we don’t care much of the other half of the celebrities. In an event held in Kathmandu, well known director Nischal Basnet has married a new actress in Nepali film industry, Swastima Khadka. In a private event held on February 17, 2016, among his friends and family, Nischal has married and taken Swastima home. In the evening, a reception party was held to celebrate the marriage. The wedding was not a surprise event, as Swastima and Nischal were engaged in December, and the marriage was being planned since then. The news of their engagement however was a surprise event for many. The age difference between the bride and the groom was talked a lot at that time. 34-years old Nischal is 14 years older than is 20-years old wife.
The director of the superhit movie ‘Loot’, Nischal Basnet, has told that he has found the story of the sequel of the movie ‘Loot 2’. It seems every successful movies (and event unsuccessful movies) are being made into sequels.
He told that he has also started the writing of the script of the movie. Talking to Setoparda, Nischal told that the formal announcement of the sequel will be done in near future.

Nischal told that he is currently busy in the preparation for the marriage. Nischal and Swastima Khadka had recently engaged and going to get married on February 17.
The director of ‘Loot’ and ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ and the actor of movies like ‘Kabaddi’, Nischal Basnet, and the actress of hit movie ‘Hostel Returns’, Swastima Khadka, have got engaged in an event held in Kathmandu on December 14, 2015. The marriage between the two is scheduled to be held on February 17, 2016 (Falgun 5).
The rumor of the affair between Nischal and Swastima had been going on in the Nepali film sector for a while. I had also written about the possibility of their marriage three months ago.
This week two new movies Ram Babu Gurung’s ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ and Shovit Basnet‘s ‘Jaun Hinda Pokhara’ have released in theater. The targeted audience of these two movies are not the same but, one would certainly affect the business of the other.
The sequel of the hit movie ‘Kabaddi’ by the same team is a highly awaited movie. Set in typical village environment and featuring well known actors like Dayahang Rai and Nischal Basnet in leading role are some of the strongest aspects of the movie. The directional talent of Ram Babu Gurung was seen in ‘Kabaddi’. The movie had won many awards and positive reviews from the viewers and reviewers. Actress Rishma Gurung is also establishing herself as a credible actress in Nepali film industry.

The second biggest festival in Nepal after Dashain, Tihar has been wrapped up on Friday November 13. The last day of Tihar – Bhai Tika is celebrated by brothers and sisters to show their love and dedication to each other. On the occasion, despite of economic blockade from India, people have followed the tradition. Update

Singer, journalist and actress Komal Oli made this year’s Bhai Tika memorable by presenting 2-litres petrol to each of her brothers. At the time of petrol-crisis in Nepal, that would certainly made the happiest brothers.
Comedy actress Palpasa Dangol, popularly known as Chamsuri has urine infection and was rushed to emergency room in Teaching Hospital right before Bhai Tika. As she had to be treated in the hospital, her brothers visited Dangol in hospital bed to take Bhai Tika. Palpasa has told that that was one of the most memorable Bhai Tika in her life.
The nominations for the upcoming movie award, D Cine Award has been released. The 7th edition of the cinema award is one of the many Nepali film awards being held by various organizations. The Award has teamed up with CG (Chaudhary Group, the business organization of Binod Chaudhary) this year to rename it LG D Cine Award 2072. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Mangsir month.
The nomination list is prepared from the movies released in the year 2071 BS. There will be 38 different categories of the award in the award ceremony. The award organizer has told that most of the 82 movies released in the year have participated in the award.
The jury members of the Award ceremony are writer and director Mohan Niraula, journalist and director Bijayaratna Tuladhar, musician Santosh Shrestha, and the first female cinematographer of Nepal Sabanam Mukhiya. The sequel of ‘Kabaddi’, Ram Babu Gurung’s directorial venture, ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ is in post production phase. The story of a remote village in Mustang tries to replicate the success of ‘Kabaddi’ and is one of the awaited movies of the current time. The movie features Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Nischal Basnet and Rishma Gurung in main roles. Actor Saugat Malla is a new addition to the characters to the ‘Kabaddi’ team. The romantic comedy movie is fully shot in Mustang. The movie is jointly produced by Nischal Basnet and Sunil Chand Rauniyar under Black Horse Pictures banner.
The third edition of INAS Film Award was held in Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi in Kathmandu. The award ceremony held on Sunday awarded director Tulsi Ghimire with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award has has a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. The award ceremony was organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN) and the Film Development Board (FDB). In the program, NRN Upendra Mahato appreciated in the improvement in the quality of Nepali movies. Actor and musician Muralidhar expressed his happiness to be honored in a Nepali film award ceremony.

The 81 entries in the Foreign-Language Film Oscar are finalized officially by the Academy Award officials. Among 81 countries, Paraguay is the only country that has sent its movie for the first time. The nomination of the 88th Academy Awards is scheduled to be announced on January 14, 2016. The winners will be announced on February 29 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
Among the contenders Nepali movie ‘Talakjung Vs Tulke’ by director Nischal Basnet will compete with 80 movies be be nominated in the contest. Winning would certainly be a feat, nomination is no less for the country like Nepal. The only time a movie with Nepal attached to it to be nominated was in 1999 for Eric Valli’s film ‘Himalaya’ in the 72nd Academy Awards.
The Oscars Nomination committee in Nepal had selected ‘Talakjung Vs Tulke’ from a pool of four movies to represent Nepal in the Awards.

Nischal Basnet was awarded the best director’s award for his work in ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’. The movie ‘Matan’ was awarded the best movie in ethnic films category. ‘Kabaddi’ writers Rambabu Gurung and Upendra Subba were also awarded in the ceremony.
