Nepali Movie – Aama (Mithila Sharma, Surakshya Panta)

The movie directed by Dipendra K Khanal, featuring Mithila Sharma and Surakshya Panta in leading roles is released in YouTube. Right after release, the movie has been very successful in attracting a huge amount of Nepali viewers.

The movie was released right before the lockdown. The movie was taken off the theater before people watched it. It was released again after 9 months of lockdown. But, the viewers didn’t go to theater to watch it. The movie was released online after a copy was shared online. The movie is produced by Sharmila Pandey. In addition to direction and script D.K. Khanal is also the cinematographer of the movie.

Friday Release – Nagarik

This Friday, on November 6, 2015 new Nepali movie ‘Nagarik’. The movie directed by Bimal Poudel features Bishow Basnet, Anu Shah, Puspa Acharya, Sarita Giri, Ganesh Upreti, Ramesh Budhathoki etc. The cinematographer of the movie is Raju Thapa and the movie is produced by Ayushree Rajbhandari and Sarbhani Rajya Dulal. The movie features the music of Laxman Shesh, lyrics of Puspa Acharya.

The movie made on political theme, ‘Nagarik’ is being released in 40 theaters all over Nepal. The movie features the incidents from the political change of 2007 BS to the current condition. The director, Bimal Poudel, says that the movie fits in the current political condition and he expects the viewers to like it.

Lyrics are written by Mohan Ghising, Bharat Lama and Sharad Poudel. The singers are Balram Samal, Jagadish Samal and Susan Maskey. The movie is made under the banner of Janataranga Multimedia.

A presentation of Smashing Apple, ‘Badhshala’ is a film on the torture of Maoist combatants at Bhairavnath barrack of Nepal Army. Released on April 19, 2013, ‘Badhshala’ went through a political controversy after being banned by Nepal Army. The film makers went to street to protest the unjust banning of the movie citing March 8 as the black Friday.

Valentine Day special – Failed love, Sarita Giri and Saugat Malla

Actress Sarita Giri and actor Saugat Malla unknowingly fell in love and it lasted for 9 years before they separated. It has been four years since they separated and Sarita still misses the Valentine Days of those days.

When they were living in Gurukul hostel, Sarita used to deliver flowers and chocolates to Saugat’s room every Valentine Days. He used to do the same and they share surprise gifts.

Padmini tune stolen from Hindi film Bol Bachchan

The tune of one of the songs of today’s solo release ‘Padmini’, is found to be copied from a Hindi film, ‘Bol Bachchan’.Â Although the words are in Nepali rather than Hindi in the original song, the music is exactly the same.

Anup Baral to debut film direction in ‘Fitkiri’

Actor and director Anup Baral is debuting in movie direction after directing more than 50 plays. Anup Baral’s first movie ‘Fitkiri’ is scheduled to start in by the end of February.

Anup Baral started acting in theater at the age of 14 and is known as the guru of well known actors like Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, and Diya Maskey. Other well known actors who took training from Anup Baral are Raj Ballav Koirala, Usha Rajak, and Sarita Giri.

Uncertainty in the release of Timro Lagi, Padmini and Samaya

Due to the hunger strike and protest of film artists, the release of new movies are uncertain. The movies scheduled to release on February 1 are Arun Khadka’s ‘Timro Lagi’, Mausami Malla‘s ‘Samaya’ and Basanta Kumar Shrestha’s ‘Padmini’.

Mausami had previously clarified that the movie release will be postponed if the protest didn’t end by the release date. ‘Samaya’ is the debut movie of Mausami’s son Vicky Malla and the actress Surabhi Bista.

Poster of Badhshala released on Intl Human Rights day

On the occasion of the International Human Rights day (December 10, 2012), the poster of an upcoming movie ‘Badhshala’ was released in Kathmandu. ‘Badhshala’ is told to be made on the story of the abuse of human rights. The poster also features a character ready to be tortured in a room that looks like a windows less army/police torture room.

Today is Bhai Tika, the main day of Tihar. On this day, brothers and sister offer tika and gifts to each others and wish longevity of the lives of each other. We have collected information about how some of the actors and actresses in Nepali movie industry celebrate Bhai Tika.

All three sisters of actor Rajesh Hamal live in the US. As he is currently in the US, Rajesh will celebrate Bhai Tika with his sisters after a long time. In previous years, Rajesh Hamal used to celebrate Bhai Tika with Maina Suchikar (Maina has recently died).

Actress Namrata Shrestha has two elder brothers and she celebrates Bhai Tika with them. For gifts, Namrata offers sweets and other undisclosed gifts to her brothers on the day.
