He sold Sikkim to India – Biography of Lhendup Dorjee

The leader Lhendup Dorjee is accused of selling Sikkim to India. Lhendup acted according to the Indian master plan and helped in abolishing monarchy from the small country and handed the country over to India. In return he became the first Chief Minister of the new state of India.

After India became successful in swallowing the country, Lhendup was trashed like a rag. In the election the party of Lhendup failed to win any seats. His wife divorced and he lived a very simple life in a government provided residence.

Priyanka Chopra Nepali film, Pahuna, also made on Maoist war story

The poster of the Nepali movie by Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, was released recently. The movie titled ‘Pahuna’ is produced under the initiation of Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra to produce various movies in the regional languages of India. Earlier, actress Jenisha KC had told that she will be featured in the leading role in the movie. But, the first look poster of the movie doesn’t feature the actress.

The movie is told to be made on the story of kids separated from their parents at the time of Maoist war in Nepal. In the movie, they are fleeing from Nepal to Sikkim and the poster also features three kids living on their own. The poster:

Earlier, Priyanka Chopra had told that she couldn’t be present in the press meets of the movie but, she is very happy to be the producer of the first feature movie of Sikkim. The movie is being made jointly by Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra under Purple Pebble Pictures. She told, “Thank you to the government of Sikkim that has given our small, beautiful movie ‘Pahuna’ such a big support,” Priyanka added, “Its Sikkim’s first feature film. And, I am very very honoured to be the producer tying up with the Government of Sikkim to bring you that.”

INAS Award 2016 highlights

Nepali movie industry became richer by two more film awards in this weekend. One was held in India and another in the USA. Like all other awards, the award ceremonies were equally controversial. It’s not only the artists uninterested in the film awards, now the media hasn’t given the importance to the award ceremonies.The INAS Film Award 2016 was held in Gantok, Sikkim on Wednesday November 9, 2016. The chief guests in the award ceremony were the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Manisha Koirala, Rajesh Hamal, and Karishma Manandahr.

Namrata Shrestha movie Soul Sister releasing on Jan 16

Actress Namrata Shrestha announced the release date of her debut movie has a producer ‘Soul Sister’ in a press meet organized on Monday. The press meet was special as her ex-lover was seen the the event and it is believed that the love affair has resumed after one year of break up. Namrata announced the release date of her production, ‘Soul Sister’ on the December 15 event. The movie is scheduled to release on January 16, 2015 (Magh 2).

'Visa Girl' to release in India

Although the much publicized Nepali movie ‘Visa Girl’ couldn’t do good business in Nepal, the producers are trying their luck in India. On the occasion of Christmas (December 25, 2012), the movie will be premiered in Gangtok, Sikkim.

Shakuntala Sharma – a new actress from Sikkim

Shakuntala Sharma is a new entry in Nepali movie industry, from Sikkim, India.  The 21 years old beauty is 5 feet and 4 inches tall and is a gradate in English (BA) from Loreto college Darjeeling.

Shakuntala debuted in Paristhiti, a movie on AIDS, media and Darjeeling. Directed by Bhavesh Thakuri, Paristhiti, helped Shakuntala to snatch a Best Actress award.
