Jharana Bajracharya is one of the leading actresses in Nepali movie industry. She is also considered one of the hottest celebrity in Nepal. The Miss Nepal of 1997, Jharana, has surrounded herself with a lot of controversy with her movies, music and affairs.
Jharana Bajracharya Controversies
Miss Nepal Controversy
People started to notice Jharana after she participated and won Miss Nepal World 1997 beauty contest. But, the contest itself was very controversial. The organizer of Miss Nepal contest Kathmandu Jaycees had already organized the Miss Nepal contest and Neelima Gurung was the Miss Nepal 1997. The organizers of Miss Nepal World was in fact the company that Jaycees had employed to organize the previous Miss Nepal. After Hidden Treasure made an agreement with the Miss World organizers to send the Nepal representative, they just bypassed the original organizers and organized Miss Nepal World. Jaycees gave up the fight and after 1997 only one Miss Nepal – Miss Nepal World was held.
These days both Neelima and Jharana are considered Miss Nepal 1997.
Vulgar role in Hindi Movie
Jharana Bajracharya also starred in a Bollywood movie ‘Love in Nepal’. But the skimpy outfit and hot scenes in the movie created a huge controversy and she had to defend by saying ‘What’s wrong with exposing if you are blessed with natural beauty?’
After the release of the movie, she claimed that she had also received many more offers in Bollywood. But, she also added that, she had to reject them as all of them were more focused on skin show and showpiece rather than acting in them.
Engagement and marriage
Apart from her professional life, her personal life has always been in limelight. There was rumor of her affair with the owner of Nanglo restaurant; which, she denied.
Then came an engagement (was it a marriage?) with a British national, Warren Carrar. The engagement ceremony was held on October 6, 2007, in a private ceremony held in Kathmandu. That was on Ghatasthapana, the first day of the biggest festival in Nepal, Dashain. At the time I wrote this biography first (in 2010) Jharana was still telling that she will marry Carrer. The marriage never took place and Jharana was reluctant to talk about what caused the relationship to break.
Jharana remained single for almost a decade, until 2015. She married Rahul Agarwal, a Malaysian citizen in March of 2015. After the marriage, Jharana moved with his husband and started living in Malaysia. Jharana had met Rahul in the sets of her movie ‘Safe Landing’. The movie was released online in 2016. It was never released in movie theatre. Watch ‘Safe Landing’ here.
Jharana gave birth to a son in April of 2016. The son is going to turn one year old as I write (in March 2017). Here is the family photo of the mom dad and the little one:

Jharana was the Miss Nepal, 1997 and the first representative for Nepal at the Miss World Pageant. On 1998, Prakash Sayami brought Jharana in films with the movie ‘Hatiyar’. Jharana has acted a number of movies, advertisements, and music videos. It is sad however that none of the films of Jharana have seen much success.
