The premier show of ex-Miss Nepal’s debut movie as an actress, ‘Ritu’ was held in Big Movies in Kathmandu and Sydney in Australia. The premier show was attended by current and ex-Miss Nepal, politicians, actors and actresses of Nepali film industry.

Ritu releasing on March 7, Censor grants U certificate

The censor board has granted an ‘U’ certificate to ‘Ritu’, the movie releasing on March 7, 2014 in theaters all over Nepal. The movie featuring Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi, Reema Bishowkarma and Raj Ballav Koirala in leading role is directed by Manoj Adhikari. The movie mostly shot in Australia features some beautiful scenes in Australia and Nepal.

Priyanka Karki’s first movie releasing after many others (music video)

Actress Priyanka Karki‘s first movie as an actress is yet to release while many other movies featuring the actress have already been released. Priyanka’s first movie by release is ‘3 Lovers’, but she had completed the shooting of ‘Mero Best Friend’ before any other movies.

After winning Miss Teen title in 2005 Priyanka went to the USA to study. She returned back to Nepal after the completion of her studies to make a career in Nepali film industry. The effort has paid off and Priyanka has managed to establish herself as a hot cake in the industry.

Kabaddi trailer released, sounds like a promising movie

The trailer of upcoming movie ‘Kabaddi’ was released in a formal program in Kathmandu on March 3. More than 3 minutes long trailer released during the event gives a preview of love, romance and comedy in the movie.

The movie directed by Rambabu Gurung features Dayahang Rai, Rishma Gurung and Nischal Basnet in lead roles.  The movie scheduled to release on Baisakh 12 (April 25, 2014) will compete with another movie to release on the same day – ‘Mero Best Friend’.

Rekha Thapa movie Himmatwali starts in Mahendranagar

The shooting of an upcoming movie of Rekha Films, ‘Himmatwali’ has started in Mahendranagar on Shivaratri day. Rekha Thapa performed chasing stunts in horseback on the first day of shooting.

The movie is being directed by Shyam Bhattarai and is being cinematographed by Ramsharan Upreti. Rekha is also introducing a new actor in the movie, most probably the disabled climber Sudarshan Gautam.

An actor without hands in opposite to Rekha Thapa in Himmatwali

Actress Rekha Thapa has shared a photo of herself with a mystery new actor to be featured in her upcoming movie, ‘Himmatwali’. The photo posted with caption – "New looks, surprising n new actor" in her upcoming movie ‘Himmatwali’, hides the face of the actor. Our team at xnepali has identified the mystery actor based on the little face that is seen and the dress he is wearing.

Based on the photo it is clear that the lead actor of Rekha’s upcoming movie is a disabled climber, Sudarshan Gautam. Sudarshan doesn’t have hands and he can perform stunts with his feet. He had recently made news by climbing Mt. Everest and being the first climber without hands. We had written about Sudarsan Gautam 4 years ago.

Shooting of gangster movie, Naaike started

The shooting of upcoming movie ‘Naike’ has started in Pokhara. The movie to be made on a gangster story features actors Aryan Sigdel, Rem BK, Bodhraj Regmi, Surbina Karki and Sarika KC will be featured in main roles.

The shooting of the movie being directed by Netra Guurng started in a formal ceremony held at the Bindebasini temple. The movie made under Black Sando Production is produced jointly by Jagadish Khanal, Anand Chhetri, Narayan Khanal, Sangita Parajuli and Resha Gurung.

Bhimdutta finally got the censor clearance

After an initial glitch, the Censor Board has finally awarded PG certificate to Nawal Khadka‘s movie ‘Bhimdutta’. The movie directed by Himgyap Lama features Nawal as a revolutionary leader, Bhimdutta Pant of Dadeldhura.

The biographical movie made on a historical context features Nawal Khadka, Nisha Adhikari, and Sumina Ghimire in leading roles. The film makers had organized a protest press meet when the Board took time in awarding the censor clearance certificate.

Jhelee to take advantage of the popularity of Jhola and Jholey ?

Three movies with similar names – ‘Jhola’, ‘Jholey’ and ‘Jheli’ were were ready for release at the same time.

Don’t you think the names are designed to confuse the viewers? We think so too !

‘Jhola’ was released on February 7, another movie – ‘Jholey’ is scheduled to release on February 21 and the release date of the third movie ‘Jheli’ will be announced right after the release of ‘Jholey’.

The makers of ‘Jholey’ tried to take advantage of the popularity of ‘Jhola’ by releasing a press statement telling viewers not to confuse ‘Jhola’ for ‘Jholey’. The truth – nobody was really confused until they told so! ‘Jhola’ is a great movie in itself and it didn’t need some copycat (taking ‘Jhola’ director’s word that the movie was conceived 7 years ago) to promote it.

Namrata Shrestha and Rap artist Lahure to be featured in Tandav

Actress Namrata Shrestha is going to be featured opposite to a popular rap artist, Lahure (Ashish Rana) in an upcoming movie ‘Tandav’. The movie to be directed by Murray Kerr, a British national running a visual effects company in Nepal. The movie was announced in a program held on February 19, 2014.

The movie is being produced by Mohan Dotel under the production company of ‘Badhshala’, Smashing Apple. In addition to Namrata and Ashish, Anup Baral, Beepin Karki, Alan Gurung and some foreign artists will also be featured in the movie.

Prunima Cinema Hall, Pokhara closes down

One more movie theater, Purnima Cinema Hall has closed down in Pokhara. The theater was closed when the volume of viewers reduced by a large number. The theater used to feature Nepali movies and was run by producer and distributor Hari Baral.

Hari Baral expects to start the theater after a couple of months. Established in 2037 BS, the movie theater is one of the main film hall in the city. In the past three other theaters had closed down.

Jholey VS Samrat on February 21, is Biraj Bhatt craze still there in Nepali viewers?

Nepali movie ‘Jholey’ was said to be the single release on February 21 but, in the last moment a Biraj Bhatt movie ‘Samrat’ is going to compete with the dark comedy movie. The news of the release ‘Samrat’ was confirmed on Tuesday.

‘Samrat’ is an action movie made in Bhojpuri and is also released in Nepali. With Biraj, the movie features Bhojpuri actress Ruby Singh. The movie is being distributed by Sunil Manandhar. The movie made under the banner of Shreeram Balaji Films is presented by Suraj Khadka. Being busy in Bhojpuri movies, Biraj has stopped doing any new Nepali movies. The success or failure of this movie will determine if Biraj is still popular among Nepali audience.

Censor Board couldn’t decide on Bhimdutta

The Censor Board has decided to do a detailed review of the movie before letting it screen in theater. The Board chief Umakant Parajuli has told that the involvement of the Army and Indian government in the killing of Bhimdutta has to be researched and verified before the movies is allowed to release.

Censor Board going in wrong direction, to censor movie trailers

We have seen a trend of inserting different scenes and dialogues from the actual movie itself. To make sure that the scenes and dialogues meet the Censor Board requirements, the Board is mulling over the new rules and regulations.

Although we believe, the trailers should be ranked and given a category so that the broadcasters could know if they fit in their targeted audience or not – censoring them is not a solution.

FDB chief Umakanat Parajuli has told that the trailers released before the censor clearance of the movies have created a challenge and credibility of the Board. He is planning to discuss the issue in the Board and tell trailer broadcasting Televisions about the new requirement.
