Jhola to premier in a new film festival – KIFF 2014

In a press meet held in Kathmandu on January 20, program details of Kathmandu International Film Festival (KIFF) was announced. The first edition of the film festival will run for 5 days from Magh 13 to 17 (January 27 to January 31, 2014).

The festival will features 12 movies from Nepal, Russia, India, Israel, South Korea, Spain, France, Norway, and South Africa.

The film festival is being organized by Nepal Film Society. In the press meet, the Society president Krishna Malla told about the plans of the society to organize film festivals, award and workshop in national and international venues.

In the festival, premier of Yadav Bhattarai’s movie ‘Jhola’ will be done. The movie is scheduled to release on theaters on Magh 24.  The movie will be screened on the opening day, January 27. The movie, made on the story of well known writer Krishna Dharabasi, features Garima Pant, Sujal Nepal, Deshbhaktha Khanal, Laxmi Giri, Deepak Chhetri and others.

 

On the second day, South Korean movie ‘Love on Air’ will be screened. The drama-music-romance themed movie was released in 2012. Another movie screened on the day is a 2001 movie ‘Desperado Square’ from Isarel. Russian movie ‘Lyubov.ru’ will also be screened on the second day.

On the third day, ‘The Kautokeino Rebellion’, a 2008 Norwegian  movie will be screened at the noon. Spanish movie ‘Un Novio Para Yasmina’ will be screened at 1 PM, following by Indian movie ‘3 Idiots’.

On the fourth day, a 2008 French movie ‘Versailles’ will be screened at the noon. 2012 Denmark movie ‘A Hijacking’ and a 2009 South Korean movie ‘Invictus’ will follow on the day.

On the final day – January 31, 2014, a 2008 South Korean movie ‘Forever the Moment’ and a 2013 Russian movie ‘Toy Seller’ will be screened.
