KIMFF starting on Dec 7, 'Soongava' to be premiered

The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) 2012 is being organized from December 7 to December 11, 2012 in  City Hall (Rastriya Sabha Griha) / Nepal Tourism Board.  The festival will showcase more than 60 films from 28 countries in the world. The films include documentaries, fiction, short-films, animation, and experimental films. The event features interactive discussions, photography and alternative book exhibitions, and documentary workshop.

The ticket price of the festival is Rs. 50 per scree
ning (students pay half the price at Rs. 25 per screening). The tickets are available at the venue. One of the attraction of the festival is the Nepal premier of the first lesbian Nepali movie ‘Soongava: dance of the orchids’ by Subarna Thapa.

'Love You Man' got an 'A' certificate

The movie made on the love story of a gay couple, ‘Love You Man’ is given an ‘A’ certificate by the censor board. ‘A’ certified movies are only suitable for viewers over 16-years old.

The producer Yubaraj Khatri told that the movie passed the censor board hurdle after third attempt. The movie is scheduled to be released on Friday, Dec 7.  The movie directed by BB Phuyal features actors Raj Aryan, Suresh Chaudhari and Pranisha Adhikari in leading roles.

Nepali Movie – 3 Lovers (pre-release review)

Nepali movie ‘3 Lovers’ is releasing on  December 7, 2012. The movie directed by Suresh Darpan Pokharel features Priyanka Karki, Devu Shrestha, Niraj Baral, Pooja Sharma, Dhirendra Thapa, and Suman Gaire in leading roles.

The movie features the cinematography of Puroshottam Pradhan, fight direction of Himal KC, music direction of Baboo Boagti & Rajan Ishan, choreography of Kabiraj & Shankar BC, editing of Dirgha Khadka, and script of Shivam Adhikari.

'3 Lovers' team not satisfied by PG certificate, releasing on Dec 7

The censor board has issued a ‘PG’ certificate to the movie ‘3 Lovers’. The movie made on love story features some kiss scenes and bed scenes that are supposed to be not suitable for kids to watch alone.  The director Suresh Darpan Pokhrel has told that he was surprised by the judgment of the censor board.

Vickey and Surabhi debut with a lot of hot scenes in 'Samaya'

The son of Mausami Malla, Vickey Malla is debuting in Nepali movie industry with his first movie ‘Samaya’. The movie will also introduce new actress, Surabhi Bista. In their debut movie, the couple have give a lot of hot scenes.

‘Samaya’ features two generation of character in which and Mausami Malla are featured
in the first generation followed by Vickey Malla and Surabhi Bista representing the second generation couple. In the movie Vickey and Surabhi are featured in a lot of lip-locks and bed scenes. The movie is produced by Bhadra Kumari Sen, written by Brajesh Khanal and directed by Dayaram Dahal.

Saroj Khanal’s comeback in Nepali movies after 14 years

After 14 years of absence from Nepali movie industry, Saroj Khanal is going to appear in an upcoming movie ‘Manav’. The actor was one of the best actors of his time. After he went to the USA, he stopped appearing in movies.

Last year, when he was in Nepal, Saroj Khanal acted in the movie and the movie is now ready to be released in the first month of 2013.

Manisha Koirala in USA for further checkup and treatment

Actress Manisha Koirala is currently in the US for further checkup and treatment after being diagnosed of cancer in India.

While in Nepal for Tihar, she got sick and admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu. She was initially thought to be suffering from food poisoning. When she fainted, the doctors decided that something much serious was the case and referred her to Indian hospital. She was admitted to Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai where she was diagnosed of having ovarian cancer. As the cancer was in it’s initial stage the doctors were confident that they could cure Manisha. But, Manisha’s friends and families wanted a better treatment and suggested an US hospital for further treatment.

Former Crown prince Paras Shah in Phuket Court, Thailand

Former Crown prince Paras Shah was to report to Phuket Provincial Court on Thursday as instructed by the court order issued over a drugs charge on him. But journalists waiting outside the court could not see him as mentioned in Phuket Gazette. It has also mentioned that the investigating officer in the case told that Mr Shah had already reported in, but didn’t disclose the time.

On October 23, Former crown prince Shah was arrested at the Surin Sabai Condo in Cherng Talay when police officers found him in possession of 3.4 grams of a substance they believed to be marijuana. According to Bangkok Post Report, Shah was released on bail of 10,000 baht after spending a night in jail.

Movie review – Lanka

Nepali movie ‘Lanka’ was the solo release on November 16, 2012.  And the only Nepali movie to relase on the following week, ‘ATM’ was also banned from the theater on the accusation of trying to cheat the censor board. In that way, ‘Lanka’ was lucky to be the only Nepali movie in theater for two weeks. That was one of the reasons ‘Lanka’ has been successful so far.

Lanka is made on regular masala story of the clash of good and evil. The movie features actress Rekha Thapa in the leading role as a police officer. Kishor Khatiwada (Satya), Rekha Thapa (Saraswati Pandey) and Nandu Sribastav (Babubhai) are the main characters of the movie directed by Shayam Bhattarai.

Manisha Koirala admitted to hospital and diagnosed with cancer

Famous actress Manisha Koirala has been admitted to Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai, India on Tuesday and according to media reports, she has been diagnosed with cancer.

According to sources, Manisha has not been keeping well from some time back and had even fallen unconscious. Before admitted to Jaslok Hospital, she was admitted to Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu.  She had come to Kathmandu at the beginning of November. More than a week ago, in twitter, she has mentioned of being down with bad food poisoning.  Continue reading

Film Journalist Dabbu Kshetri to direct 'Passport'

In a latest news, a film journalist for almost two decade, Dabbu Kshetri, has thought that he can direct movies too. A movie named ‘Passport’ will bear his name as the director. That’s not all, he is also the writer of the movie.

Dabbu told that he had studied film direction for the last four years before jumping in the new profession. Dabbu has previously directed music videos including a music video for the 3-year-old child singer, Athiti KC.

Although the artists aren’t finalized yet, the movie is all set to go on floor in the first week of Falgun. The movie to be shot in foreign locations like Malaysia and Dubai is scheduled to be completed in 35 days.

Nepali Film award to be held in Dubai on Dec 7

The first Nepali movie award to be organized to in the foreign soil, ‘Box Office Film Award 2012’ is now scheduled to be organized on Friday, December 7, 2012.

The award was previously schedule on October 12, 2012. Because of the unavailability of artists during the festive season, the award ceremony was postponed. At that time, the photos of artists were used in the promotion of the ceremony without the consent of the artists. In a latest news release, the organizers have claimed that more
than 40 artists will arrive from Nepal in Dubai for the event.

Rajesh Hamal Honored in Pokhara

After returning from the US the top actor of Nepali film industry, was honored in a program organized in Pokhara. In an education fair that started in Pokhara on November 27, 2012, Rajesh Hamal was one of the five people honored.

The people honored include Prof. Kedarbhakta Mathema, Mukundasharan Upadhaya, Ananddev Bhatt, Shaymdash Maharjan and Rajesh Hamal.
