Can beauty contest participants be allowed to be promote alcohol products like beer?
As far as I know, the beauty contest participants are as young as 16 year olds. When a 16 year old is given a t-shirt with beer advertisement, can’t she drink it?
Or, are Newari girls exempt from drinking beer underage? Following are the participants of Miss Newa Pokhara 2067, held in Pokhara on April 2, 2011.

This is absurd ! Both Internet outage and government action against ISPs are absolutely unnecessary.
Let me first talk about call by-pass:
I have told before – call by-pass is not a problem at all. The government blocked some VOIP websites. But, it couldn’t do anything to Google when it introduced free call to US and Canada.
Now, why is the police against some ISPs accusing them of using their services to call by-pass?
If it is cheaper to call Nepal due to illegal call bypass, why is it bad? Because it hurts the profit of large voice operators in Nepal and robs the government of resulting tax revenue.
If the large voice operators can’t keep up with the new technology – why should the government protect them?
The telecom operators should embrace internet and VOIP as new technology and find new revenue avenues in them instead of trying to stop them from coming in.
Next, why are ISPs punishing their own customers for government action?
There is a tradition, specially in South Asian countries to write stuffs in vehicles like buses and trucks. In Pakistan and some parts of India, such vehicles are made canvas of artists – with all sorts of artistic creations. In Nepal, we see a lot of witty and short snippets written in some buses and trucks. One of my friends has collected a lot of such photos in his blog http://kguff.com. With his kind permission, I have collected top five tragedy themed bus/truck writings (I am not sure if these are literature). Continue reading

One of our visitors sent the following photo of a MoMo (a dumpling like steamed food, very popular in Nepal) restaurant. It says Daami Mo.Mo. Harami Soup (Exact translation is not possible but it can literally mean – excellent MoMo, extremely hot soup).
Well that was not the only sign board with such a writing. Another signboard has exact same wordings. Now, it is unknown whose idea is the original.
The guy you puffing a cigarette is told to be 106 year old and he says that he has been smoking since 86 years. There is no doubt, smoking kills. But, this pensioner of army for the last 60 years is surely an exception.
There was Winnie Langley who lit her cigarette from her 100th birthday candle and was an internet sensation, gave-up smoking at 102 and died within a year. She gave a false impression that, "quitting smoking is injuriou
s to health".
Well, smoking is injurious to health and nobody should start it!
Thank you Neel Khadka, the news editor of Sagarmatha Television, for allowing me to use the photo.

The Indian cricket fans are happy for their win after loosing for the last 27 years. But, some are disappointed due to Poonam Pandey’s decision to respect the ‘Indian values’ and not strip in front of them – sort of an April Fool’s joke.
The Indian cricket team has won the Cricket World Cup after 28 years. And, as promised Poonam Pandey is planning a strip tease show for the team if BCCI approves and arranges for the feat. Poonam however was forced to switched off her phone when she got variety of calls, some full of threaten and others requesting her to fulfill her promise.
Poonam is still willing to perform her show for the team if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approves and arranges the venue. It looks like, Poonam is not confident such shows will be approved by the public in India. So, she has proposed to do it in a bit more liberal places like a French city, Paris.
Buddha was born in Lumbini, located near the border of India in the Southern part of Nepal, more than 2500 years ago. The remains of the ancient kingdom of Shakya rulers are still preserved in the area. A pillar (gray pillar in the left side, in the photo below) erected by an Indian emperor, also confirms the location as the birth place of Buddha.
