A biography of Bhuwan KC was being written in 2015. Before earthquake I had reported about the completion of writing but, Bhuwan was yet to review the book. After that, a lot of things happened in Nepal – earthquake was the most dreadful thing that happened in a couple of weeks after I wrote the article.
After earthquake, Bhuwan completed his directorial debut movie ‘Dreams’. The movie was successful beyond expectation. The movie established Samragyee RL Rana as the most sought after actress in the Nepali movie industry. That was also the hat trick of hit movies of Bhuwan’s son Anmol KC. But, the biography of Bhuwan KC was forgotten.
Summary of things about the biography:
Kamal Dhakal of Ghost writing Nepal was writing the biography
Ghost Writing Nepal had made a deal of Rs. 235,000 for the book. The deal was signed in January 2015.
The book was initially titled ‘Playboy’. Bhuwan objected to it and renamed ‘Superstar’.
The book was delayed when Bhuwan didn’t finished reviewing the book in time (April 2015).

I have prepared a video report on five actresses who started their acting career in their childhood. These actresses didn’t know about their future as actresses, when they acted in their first movies. Out of the five actresses, three are considered some of the top actresses in the Nepali movie industry. Two actresses discontinued acting after acting in some movies.
Nepali TV celebrity, Miss Nepal 2002, Malvika Subba gave birth to a son in April 2016. In less than 6 months of her pregnancy, Malvika Subba miraculously lost 20 kg of her weight. It is a usual trend that new moms gain a lot of weight after giving birth to their child. One of the latest example is actress Richa Ghimire. Richa Ghimire gave birth to her third child, a daughter in the USA.
A video report on Malvika Subba’s weight loss:
How did Malvika Subba lost weight?
In an interview, Malvika has told that she didn’t do any exercise to lose the weight. All she did was reduction in weight gaining practice. A while ago, Nepali superstar Rajesh Hamal was in New Delhi during his tour for the Quiz program he has been running for the last few years. Hamal was invited by the Nepali students at Sharada University to meet and greet them. During the event, Rajesh Hamal gave an Inspiring speech.
Watch the video highlights of the inspirational speech:
Summary of the speech:
Rajesh Hamal started his kindergarten in Pakistan when his father was posted at the Nepali Embassy in Pakistan.
Next year, his father was posted at the Nepali embassy in India. Hamal studied his grade 1 in New Delhi.
Later, in the 1980s, his father was again posted in New Delhi as the ambassador. Hamal lived in India from the early 80s to 1989, till the time he started acting in Nepali movies.
Hamal’s father was later posted in Pakistan, where he breathed his last breath.
Hamal told that he spent “the prime time” of his life in Delhi and was deeply connected to the place. He saw himself in the students in the audience. He remembered the fun time he had, foods he ate, and the unbearable heat he had to go through.
When he started acting in Nepali movies, it was a very uncertain time. Nepali movies were made every one or two years and there was no career as an actor. His family members were not supportive to his choice of profession.
But, as the time passed the Nepali movie industry also progresses. His popularity and the film industry grew simultaneously.
Hamal tells everybody to follow their passion. They should give their inner desire a try.
In Hamal’s words, “I tried something new …. Do not hesitate to try something new. Give it a try. You never know, you might reach the place where no one else has reached before.”
INAS Award nominations were announced on November 5, 2016. Right after the announcement, the organization’s Nepal Chapter members were not happy. That is not all, I think, nobody is interested or excited about  yet another award. Although many accuse omission of some of the best movies, the the nominations are expected. The winners will most probably be the same one that had already won different awards for the same movie, same artists and category. I am sure, many winners won’t go to receive the award.
UPDATE: Infographics showing how all the awards are repeating the same artists and films (click for bigger image):
INAS Award controversy started right after the nomination
Some of the members of INAS (International Nepalese Artists Society) have expressed their dissatisfaction over the nomination on the award. When two successful movies ‘Woda Number 6’ and ‘Prem Geet’ were not nominated in any categories, some of the members accused that the jury had made decision without even watching the movie. Nepali Movie – Kampan Starring – Anchila Basnet, Sitaram Timilsina, Anil Kumar Budhathoki, Anu Parajuli, Rajesh Dhunga etc. Director – Dinesh Poudel
About ‘Kampan’
The movie ‘Kampan’ is made on a story of earthquake of 2015. The movie directed by Dinesh Poudel was released on June 17, 2016. Although the movie is based on one of the most serious incident in the modern history of Nepal, its theatre presence wasn’t felt. The movie might have been victim of the released of hit movie ‘Gajalu’ which was released a week before ‘Kampan’ release.
To make it easier for our viewers, I have collected all the sequels of the one of the most popular Nepali movie franchise, ‘Nai Nabhannu La’. Although the initial response was lukewarm, the movie piked up in later days.
The first sequel of ‘Nai Nabhannu La’ was released in August of 2010. One of the movie theatres, Hira Ratna, had removed the movie on the second day of it’s release because of low turn out of the viewers (read my report of 2010 – Did viewers say “Nai” to “Nai Na Bhannu La” the next day?). But, the musical love story movie turned out to be a blockbuster movie and did a good business in the theaters inside and outside of Kathmandu valley (Read the Year end report of the movies in 2010). Let me compare the four sequels of the movie in a tabular form:
Although I have all of these movies in separate post, I am compiling them all in one place so that you can enjoy them at the same time. Please comment which one do you like the most and why.
In Laxmi Puja, ‘Prem Geet’ actress Pooja Sharma cooked Sel Roti, the traditional rice-bread cooked in special occasions like Dashain and Tihar. Cooking Sel Roti is not easy job. Based on the photos Pooja shared, she had cooked pretty good sel roti. Using the photo one of the prank groups of Facebook wrote something like – “if she could cook a perfect sel roti, she is good enough to marry.”
In response, Pooja wrote, “Please don’t use our pictures in wrong way or for wrong purpose.” Somebody shared the picture in question:
Watch a video report of Pooja Sharma’s Tihar and the photos of Pooja making sel roti. On Bhai Tika day, Pooja went to an orphanage, Rakshya Nepal, and had some fun time with the kids who would otherwise be on their own on the second biggest festival in Nepal.
