On the 9th Republic Day, Nepal Government has honored four film artists by Prabal Janasewa Award. According to the press release by the Ministry of Home, the artists awarded by the award are:
The artists are honored for their contribution to their field. The artists will be awarded in a special program to be held later. The president Bidhya Devi Bhandari will hand over the awards to all the award winners.
In addition to the artists, singer Aani Choying Dolma is also awarded by another award in the same list. She is awarded the award for her contribution in social work sector.
Two new Nepali movies are releasing in theaters in Nepal today, on May 20, 2016 – ‘Homework’ and ‘Buddha Born in Nepal’. The movie about Buddha, is a presentation of actor Ramit Dhungana and another movie ‘Homework’ is a Gopi Krishna movies presentation.
Buddha Born in Nepal
The movie made to give a message that Gautam Buddha was born in Nepal is made to create awareness on the fact. The movie written and directed by Gyanendra Deuja features the producer Ramit Dhungana with Ashishma Nakarmi, Mithila Sharma, Nir Shah, Manita Lama and Amit Dhungana in main roles.

Actress Sanchita Luitel is romancing with actor Jiwan Luitel in upcoming movie ‘Radha’. The movie directed by Yogesh Ghimire is the first movie of the two well known actors of the Nepali movie industry.
Sanchita had worked with the director Yogesh Ghimire in two of her movies – ‘Samjhana’ and ‘Sapoot’. The shooting of the movie is going on since Baisakh 24 in the Eastern parts of Nepal. The movie is scheduled to be shot in Jhapa and Darjeeling area.
Note: In addition to Bollywood actresses, Nepali actresses had also performed in the concert. I will write about Nepali actresses in another post.
Two Bollywood actresses Sonakshi Sinha and Malaika Arora performed in a concert held in Tundikhel on the evening of Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Sonakshi Sinha told that she enjoyed the performance very much and also promised to return back to Nepal again. Sinha also greeted the viewers in Kathmandu with a Nepali phrase “Kasto Chha?”. Watch the following video to see and hear her say it.

At last, actress Garima Pant has announced her marriage with Hari Sharma Thapaliya in Belgium. There were not pandits, no janti and no reception parties in the marriage. Garima and Hari got married in the court by signing the marriage papers.
Garima has used the money saved by not having a lavish marriage, for a noble cause -by donating to a couple of schools in her birthplace. According the the information she shared in her Facebook profile, Garima is going to donate Rs. 700,000 to tow of the schools in her birthplace to set up scholarship funds for poor and talented children.
