Kathmandu airport to be jammed with birds?

gautam sapkota Do you remember the birdman Gautam Sapkota from my previous post who could mimic 151 different types of birds? The videos were convincing and the guy sure has some talent.

The 25-year old now claims that he can call 175 different birds to jam the Kathmandu International Airport. The reason – the government has created hindrance in his quest for the Guinness World Records.

There are so many problems in Nepal that the Nepalese Government can’t hear a plea until somebody chooses a disruptive mean – be it a traffic jam or city closure (popularly called ‘Banda’) to attract its attention. Gautam claims to have repeatedly asked the ministries of foreign affairs, finance and forest. But nobody cared for his plea. Now, according to a National newspaper, he has given a three months ultimatum to the government to write letters to the Guinness World Records officials. With the three month’s preparation he is planning to call unspecified number of crows to jam the air traffic on the only international airport in Nepal.

I don’t know if he could do what he claims but, writing a letter shouldn’t have been that big a problem for the government.

Isn’t it the government who should search talents and support them? Looks like it is the other way around in Nepal and that too through the wheels and whistles of corrupt bureaucracy.

I wish Gautam luck on his desire to be registered in the Guinness World Records soon.

  1. Gautam Sapkota needs to do a little google search to find out how to register himself to the Guinness Records. Asking for government help and threatening air traffic disruption is foolish and counter productive.

Guinness Records has made it quite easy to register your talent and set a world record. Here is the website with information: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/member/how_to_become_a_record_breaker.aspx.

An individual who wants to set any kind of world record does not require any sort of government plea on thier behalf.

    All the best!

  2. Mr. Gautam Sapkota !
I extend thanks that you have done appriciated work. the fact is that the nonsense Nepalese Government can’t hear a plea until somebody chooses a disruptive mean – be it a traffic jam or city closure (popularly called ‘Banda’). Then you have released vry good news about traffic jam & birds Jam.
    Thank you.
