RIP Tilahari, Pritiko Phool Director Resh Raj Acharya

The director of Nepali movie Tilahari, a 2044 BS movie, Resh Raj Acharya has died of heart problem. After heart attack, Acharya was rushed to Om Hospital. The doctors confirmed his death at 8:00 PM of February 16, Wednesday.

According to reports, Acharya had been sick for the last one year. He was rushed to hospital when his condition worsened. The last rites of the late director is scheduled at Pashupati Arya Ghat on February 17 morning.

The last movie of Resh Raj Acharya was “Pritiko Phool’ of Gopi Krishna Movies. The movie featured Raj Ballav Koirala with Yuna Upreti and Garima Panta in leading roles.

Resh Raj Acharya debuted as a director of ‘Tilahari’ with Banni Pradhan. The movie was also Gopi Krishna Movie’s production (although the name of the producer is Sayapatri Films at the time of the movie production). The movie is produced by Sumitra Poudel and featured well known actors at that time like Bhuwan KC, Kristi Mainali, Mausami Malla, Gopal Raj Mainali, Madan Das Shrestha, Mukunda Kishore Bhattrai, Prakasgh Pathak, Ashok Sharma, Mohan Niraula and others.

At that time Kristi was unmarried and was known as Kristi KC. The story / script of the movie is written by Pratap Chandra Pradhan, dialogue is written by Mohan Niraula, lyrics written by Pramod Pradhan / Jiwan Adhikari / Uddav Poudel, action by Gopal Bhutani, choreography by Pramod Naidu, editing by Harish Chaudhari, music by Jiwan Adhikari, cinematography by Manju Kumar Shrestha, technical advisor is Raj Kumar Sharma.

The songs featured well known Indian singers like Aasha Bhosle, Suresh Wadarkar. Nepali singers like Sushma Shrestha, Gyanu Rana, Udit Narayan Jha, Deepa Jha, and Muralidhar.

Before starting direction of big screen movie, Acharya had directed Nepal TV serials like “Smriti”. According to report, his wife and one of his sons are living in France.

I wish Resh Raj Acharya rest in peace and condolence to the mourning family members.
