Actress Richa Sharma has produced her second movie, ‘Sunkesari’ after her production debut by producing ‘Aadha Love’. The movie made in a horror story is shot mostly in Australia. The trailer of the movie was released on March 22, 2018.
The story of the movie is written and is directed by Arpan Thapa. The trailer mostly contains scary scenes from the movie. Lead actor of the movie is not shown in the trailer. There is no song in the trailer either. The movie features Richa Sharma with Sunny Dhakal, Rabindra Jha, Sunil Parajuli, Prenara Thapa and foreign actress Lauren Lofberg.
Horror films in Nepal
The only successful movie made on a horror story was ‘Kagbeni’. That too can’t be called a horror film in essence. All other so-called horror films had actually scared the viewers from going to the theatre – viewers didn’t want to risk their money to watch them.
Most of the horror movies were technically inferior and they make people laugh rather than scare them. That was because of the technological challenge and story telling skills of Nepali film makers. There is also a misconception that Nepali people don’t like horror films and producers don’t want to risk in this un-explored territory.
When we look at the history of Nepali film industry, a successful movie in a genre causes every producer to flock in that genre. For example, the success of ‘Chapali Height’ caused every body to start producing movies in sex theme. The success of ‘Chha Ekan Chha’, ‘Wada Number 6’ and ‘Chhakka Panja’ caused every producer to make comedy movies these days.
If ‘Sunkesari’ becomes successful, there will certainly be more horror Nepali films in future. If not, the viewers will have to wait longer to watch such films.
