A man kills the members of his own family

The man named by Narayan Gharti of Dubidanda VDC-2 killed his own daughter Tekmati Thapa, 20, son-in-law Top Bahadur Basnet, 21, their six-month-old daughter and neighbor Chandra Thapa. The reason behind the killing is a mystery. The incident took place on Wednesday morning.
Police have already arrested the man on charges of man slaughter. The police are still investigating the reason behind the mass murder.
In yet another case, a mother and a daughter were found murdered in Madhesa-5 of Sunsari district on Wednesday morning. It has been identified that Mother, Tika Poudel, 24, was found hanging in an electric pole and her daughter Ashika Poudel’s body was found abandoned nearby it.
The police have suspected Umesh Poudel, husband of Tika Poudel, and taken him into custody. The investigation is on for this murder case.

Government to provide loan to NOC again

The government has decided again to provide the loan amount of Rs. 1.13 billion for a month to bail out cash-strapped NOC. This is the second time this year that the government has approved loan to NOC. The bail-out is a non-budgetary expenditure of government.

With the international price hike in the petroleum products, the NOC had no other option but to increase the price or ask government to bail out by providing NOC the loan. The government decided to bail out NOC by providing loan fearing a public backlash if prices were raised.

Earlier, the ministry had provided the credit worth RS 1.30 billion to the corporation.

Church bomber’s plan failed

Police have obstructed a notorious plan of detonating powerful bombs on major thoroughfares in the capital. The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal police revealed that jailbird Ram Prasad Mainali, the chief of Nepal Defense Army, was plotting from behind bars to detonate bomb to cause maximum casualties.

It was known that such plan was being operated by Milan Gurung, aka Chakra from behind bars. The police were successful in foiling such attempt and also arrested six members of the underground armed outfit, NDA, with three bombs and other weapons from Gongabu in Kathmandu on Thursday.

“It was a major breakthrough and tremendous achievement by the police, who were able to prevent mass casualties in the city”, says Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Deputy Inspector General of Police. Mainali had been planning for a series of murders and bomb blasts, including the deadly bomb blast in the Assumption Catholic Church at Dhobighat in Lalitpur.

During interrogation with the arrestees, they said that their motive was to cause the maximum casualties, spread panic and extort millions of businessmen.

Students Missing in Chitwan

Three students have gone missing since three days from Chitwan district. All three students are from Sakura Academy at Birendranagar.
Their parents have reported that their boys went missing after leaving for their school on Friday morning. The missing students have been identified as Sunil Adhikari 12, Sanjeev Gautam 11, and Kiran Rai, 10. The district police have intensified the search for the missing students.

A Chinese company in Libya has rescued 260 migrant Nepali workers working for the company. All the rescued Nepalis were received at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday. The company has also rescued 50 Indian employees along with the 260 Nepalese workers. It is also reported that altogether there are 700 Nepalese working for the Chinese company. This is the first batch of Nepalese who returned via Sudan. According to the Chinese embassy, more Nepalese are expected to be rescued. They will arrive Monday and Tuesday.

Security arrangements of metropolitan police is a joke

A mobile store located at Koteshwor has been looted by a gang of looters under the nose of cops on Sunday evening. The gang broke into the store and decamped with several mobile phones and accessories worth Rs. 450,000. Interestingly, the shop is just located around 15 meters away from Metropolitan Police Sector at Koteshwor. Dinesh Thapa, the store owner stated that his shop was looted while police personnel were on duty outside the shop. Besides, the private security guards were also inside the shopping complex. “It was almost impossible to break into a closed shuttered shop under the nose of security personnel”, Thapa added. The next morning when Thapa tried to call the security guard his mobile was switched off. It suggests that the personal security and the police on duty might have aided the looters. This incident is an evident to prove our security competencies in the nation. It is a disgrace.

Power outage to hike if NEA fails to pay dues

Bihar State Electricity Board has been providing 80 MW of electricity to Nepal. Nepal Electricity Authority has failed to pay the dues in full amount. Although NEA has been paying the dues in small amount, BSEB has threatened to cut off the electricity supply to Nepal if the NEA fails to pay the outstanding dues soon.

If BSEB decides to cut off the power supply to Nepal, the ongoing load shedding could increase up to 18 hours per day.

NEA is planning to take a loan of Rs 1.5 billion from the government to pay the due.

Army man arrested in charge of rape A Nepali army soldier was caught red-handed when he was making sexual advances to a 20-year-old girl in Swayambhu, Kathmandu. The army had befriended the girl in a bus going to Swayambhu from Bhaktapur. The girl had gone to Swayambhu to buy prayer flags. The army man had promised the girl to show her where the flags could be bought in Swayambhu. Then he took the girl into wooded area near Anandakuti Bihar where the army man attempted to rape the girl. Police arrested the army man from Swayammbhu on Monday.

Yunus Ansari shot in Central Jail

Yunus Ansari, son of former controversial minister Salim Miyan Ansari and chairman of National Television was shot inside Kathmandu’s Central Jail on Thursday, March 10 around 11.30 a.m., at a time the jail was crawling with policemen, informers and people visiting prisoners.

The Kathmandu District Court on Sunday has sent Ansari to jail for his involvement in fake Indian currency worth Rs 25, 44,500 that the police recovered from his driver and drug peddling scam.

According to police source, a person approached Ansari, who has been serving a jail term, in the guise of visitor and all of a sudden opened fire on Ansari during the conversation.

Following the incident, Ansari has been rushed to nearby Norvic Hosptial, Thapathali. The police has held the assailant and seized the weapon. The identity of the assailant is not immediately known. (A Nepali version of the news)

Bus accident at Sarpallo in Jaleshwor-Bardibas road

Three passengers were killed and 15 others injured 10 critically in a bus accident at Sarpallo in Jaleshwor-Bardibas road stretch of Mahottari district on Friday morning.

The accident occurred while it was trying to allow passage to another bus coming from the opposite direction. All the three died on the spot.

The injured have been rushed to Janakpur Zonal Hospital for treatment and some severe injured have been referred to Dharan. The identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained. Police are investigating the incident.

Earthquake, tsunami, and explosion in nuclear power plant in Japan

The massive earthquake that affected Japan on Friday morning (March 11, 2011) was one of the strongest in recorded history at 8.9 on the Richter scale.

After the earthquake, a massive explosion at Fukushima nuclear plant has left several workers injured (Japan TV’s image on right).

The earthquake is reported to have killed more than 600 people and hundreds more are missing. The tsunami triggered by the offshore earthquake has washed a number of towns and villages in Japan’s north-east coast.

Japan had previously declared states of emergency at two nuclear plants damaged by the earthquake along the country’s northeastern coast. Some of other facts about the earthquake are:

  • USGS reported that the earth’s axis has shifted 10 inches as a result of the massive quake. The earthquake has also caused the Japanese coastline to shift permanently by 2.4 meters.
  • About 1 million households were without power according to Tokyo Electric Company.
  • The earthquake, near Japan, opened the Earth’s crust 150 miles long and 50 miles wide!
  • Tsunami warnings also issued for Guam, the Philippines, the Marshall Islands, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Micronesia and Hawaii
  • In the US, Bay Area, Santa Cruz Harbor took the worst of the tsunami; $15 million in damage.

No Nepali casualties in Japan quake

According to the latest report, no Nepalese have been wounded or killed in Japan earthquake, confirmed by the foreign secretary Dr. Madam Kumar Bhattrai. However, he did not rule out the possibilities of casualties as hundreds or thousands were still missing. Japan was hit by a massive earthquake of magnitude 8.9, biggest ever recorded in the history of Japan. The massive earth quake triggered tsunami killing hundreds of people as it swept away boats, planes, cars, and houses. A mammoth relief mission is swinging into action in north-east Japan the day after it was struck by a devastating tsunami killing hundreds of people and many still missing.

Jasjeet Singh remanded in judicial custody

The Kathmandu District Court on Friday remanded a gunman, Jasjeet Singh alias Vijay from 47-Sarojani Nagar, Lucknow who was arrested after shooting down Yunus Ansari in the Central Jail.

Singh is reported to have walked into the jail entered the visitors’ room on the pretext of visiting Charles Sobhraj Gurumukh and attempted to kill Mr Ansari at point-blank range with a UK-made revolver on Thursday in front of the guards.

He has been charged under the Arms and Ammunition Act. And police are also preparing to further book him for attempted murder. However, questions are being raised on the security lapses and possibility of police personnel involvement in the crime.

During investigation, it has been found that there is a link between the attempt on Ansari’s life with the murder of media entrepreneur Jamim Shah, who was gunned down in broad daylight in Feb. Investigators are looking into all possible angles.

Quake tremors felt in Western Nepal

On Friday night and Saturday morning, a day after a giant temblor set off a devastating tsunami killing hundreds of people in Japan, quake tremors have been felt across Kaski in Western Nepal, with the epicenter located around Hemja and Lahachowk of the district.

The tremor of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale was registered at 10.33 pm on Friday night. Likewise, another quake of 3.4 magnitude at 4:13 am, 4.4-magnitude at 5:15 am, was recorded on Saturday morning in the area, the National Seismological Centre (NSC)

Price rose in petrol and aviation fuel

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the state owned oil monopoly, has increased the prices of petrol and aviation fuel effective from Sunday.

As per the new price structure, the price of petrol increased by Rs 9 and reached Rs 97 per litre.

Likewise, the NOC has hiked the price of aviation fuel to Rs 90 per litre from Rs 80. However no changes have been made in the prices of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas.

NOC said that the prices of petrol and aviation fuel have to be increased due to the rise of petroleum prices in the international market.

Loss of Property worth Rs. 10m in Dharan fire

On Sunday morning, a fire caught five storeys building at Dharan-5 of Sunsari district and property worth around Rs. 10 million has been destroyed.

Police informed that the fire has devastated the house of Narayan Palikhe including eight shops in the house.

It is reported that Indira Palikhe got injured while trying to salvage some of her valuables. She is undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

The house owner Palikhe told that the fire was triggered by an electric short circuit from a newly joined inverter at around 2:45 in the morning. Then it went out of control when it blew off the gas cylinder in the kitchen.

It was taken under control after two hours with help from three fire brigades, sources confirmed.

NRB directive not to transact kings’ image notes

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has requested the public not to take notes with former kings’ image and to exchange their notes with kings’ images and torn notes till today from the banks and financial institutions. NRB is preparing not to transact such notes from Tuesday (Chaitra 1) onwards. It has also issued a directive to the banks and financial institutions for it. NRB’s directive has come following its previous decision to replace the torn notes and notes bearing portraits of former kings The central bank said it will not be compelled to exchange such notes from Tuesday

NRB cleared the Confusion of Notes with Ex-King’s Image

The directive issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), with a cut off date of March 15 to withdraw all the bills with former king’s image, has created confusion among the common public and make them hurried to Government banks for exchanging currency notes.

Even some private banks and financial institutions refused to accept the notes with former king’s portrait on March 14.

But, no need to worry, NRB has made it clear that bank notes with former king’s image won’t be demonetized even after March 15.

NRB Spokesperson Bhaskarmani Gyawali said such notes can be exchanged from 123 branches of Nepal Bank Ltd, Rastriya Banijya Bank and three other private banks throughout the country at any time. One Global Bank branch, five branches of Everest Bank, two Nepal Bangladesh Bank, 45 NBL and 70 RBB branches have been designated by the central bank for this purpose.

The District Administration Office (DAO), Chitwan, on Wednesday ordered Rubel Chaudhary, the son-in-law of Former Deputy Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala, to appear before the DAO for hearing within seven days taking into consideration the statements of Shah’s supporters—Ganesh KC and Shiva Bahadur Pandey. A case of Tiger Tops resort firing related to former prince Paras Shah and Bangladeshi national Rubel Chaudhary was held on today at the DAO which was filed against Shah for opening fire at Chaudhari in Tiger Tops Hotel on December 11, 2010.. Shah was arrested on December 14 in Pokhara and on December 16, he was freed on bail Rs. 10,000 and date. Chaudhary has already skipped the hearing over the incident twice, while the accused, Shah, showed up at the DAO on March 3 during the first hearing and during this second hearing, Shah called in sick and did not appear before the DAO, handing over all the legal issues to his attorneys. He, however, managed to visit Dolakha with his wife, Himani Shah.

NRB revoked its decision of note policy

On Wednesday, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has revoked its decision of stopping the circulation of notes with former King’s image. NRB has issued notice the notes with former king’s image can be transacted as before.

Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has claimed, NRB did not publish a notice about the bank note policy in the gazette as required by law and called Deputy Governor of NRB for enquiry.

CIAA had directed NRB not to implement the decision now as the policy was implemented without following the existing regulations.

57 Nepalese rescued from Tsunami affected area, head for Tokyo

A team formed in Japan by the Nepali mission has rescued 44 Nepalese from Sendai and 14 from Fukushima in buses. Over 57 Nepalese have been relocated from areas in Japan hit by the tsunami and nuclear radiation, mostly from Fukushima and Sendai and have already headed for Tokyo.

The Nepali mission in Tokyo has estimated that over 200 Nepali citizens needed to be evacuated from Fukushima and Sendai to either Tokyo or other safer places in buses and vans. The Nepali mission said “We have sought help from the central as well as the provincial government to bring them back.”

In this respect, Nepali Ambassador to Japan, Ganesh Yonjan and Deputy Chief of Mission, Durga Bahadur Thapa, met officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed Nepal’s token aid and shared the missing list of Nepali nationals.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday issued a statement “We would love to show our sincere appreciation for your warm support for our country suffering from a huge disaster,”

Ex-minister Wagle arrested, sent to Dillibazaar prison

Former minister and Nepali Congress leader, Chiranjivi Wagle was sent to jail as per yesterday’s Supreme Court verdict.

Probably this is the first action against corruption in the post-1990 period. Police arrested Wagle on Thursday evening from his bungalow near Kalopul in the Capital and presented before Kathmandu District Court (KDC) before sending him to the Dillibazaar prison.

The Supreme Court yesterday passed the verdict ending a nine-year-old graft case against Wagle ordering an 18-month jail term and Rs 20.3 million fine for amassing wealth by abusing his authority during the period between May 29, 1991 and Oct. 4, 2002 when he assumed seven ministerial offices.

Wagle refused to cough up the fine. In case of inability to pay the fine, the fine will be converted into jail term and the jail term will be five years, four months and 25 days,” said Chitra Bahadur KC, Chief, Judgment Execution Section of the Kathmandu District Court.

Emerging from the KDC, Wagle claimed that the verdict was an injustice to him. “This is the prize I have received for my contribution to the country and democracy for 49 years,” added Wagle.

Hundreds held during Holi celebrations in the Capital

In a bid to discourage the hooliganism during Holi celebrations, police have taken under control over 200 people involved in unruly behaviors and violent activities from various places in the capital on Saturday. The arrested include those throwing water balloons at passers-by and forcibly smearing colors on them. Likewise, dozens of drink-drivers and those violating traffic rules were also nabbed, police said. On Saturday, holi in the capital was celebrated more peacefully than in previous years. In all three districts in the Kathmandu valley, lots of groups, celebrating holi by singing and dancing, were also noticed. Though clashes were observed in some places between youths, no serious incidents have been reported.

Man arrested for death ritual of ‘alive’ 601 CA members

On Sunday morning, police arrested Rakesh Kumar Sharma, a local resident of Bardiya, on the charge of performing death rites, shraddh, as per Hindu tradition in the names of 601 Constituent Assembly alive members. Khanal had been performing the rites every month dismissing the relevance of the Constituent Assembly (CA) as the new constitution was not drafted on time and therefore considering the tenures of each of the 601 CA members as being expired. He had already performed such rites in Bardiya, Nepalgunj and Chitwan District Police Office, Kaski, head SP Yadav Raj Khanal said he was arrested for creating anarchy in the society by performing the death rites of those still alive. He added, Khanal has been detained at Ward Police Office Baidam for further investigation.

Are Nepali Calendars mathematically incorrect?

If Astrologer Ratnanidhi Shukracharya is to be believed, the calendars prepared with the approval of Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Committee are mathematically incorrect and faulty. That was according to a complaint lodged at the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly and Culture.

The current calendar has 32 days in the months of Asar and Sawan months while there are only 29 days in the months of Mansir and Magh. Shukracharya claims that it was in clear violation of mathematical rules. He says, as per the mathematical rules there can’t be more than one months with either 32 days or 29 days in a year.

Locals obstruct foundation work of Late NC Leader Girija Prasad Koirala’s statue

The Shankhapark area near Maharajgunj became tense on the Monday morning after locals obstructed the foundation stone-laying programme of Late Nepali Congress (NC) veteran leader, Girija Prasad Koirala’s statue. It is reported that several dozens of locals created obstructions and protested against the programme of erecting late Koirala’s statue. The locals claimed the public park should not be used for a political purpose. A public place cannot be given name of any party or leader. They even buried the pit, which was dug for laying the foundation stone. No clash has however been reported. Police have tightened security in the area to prevent from clash between the NC cadres and the locals became apparent, sources confirmed.
The programme was organized to commemorate the first death anniversary of late Koirala and was scheduled to be presided over by Speaker Subhas Chandra Nembang. Proceedings had to be aborted midway through the programme after the locals continued protest.

Fire guts Bhutanese refugee camp, leaving thousands homeless

More than 200 huts were burnt to ashes after a fire swept through a United Nations Bhutanese refugee camp, Goldhap camp, at Pathari, Morang in eastern Nepal on Tuesday.

Two people were seriously burned and taken to hospital, and 18 others were treated for minor injuries. The fire destroyed a food store run by the World Food Programme and a health centre in the camp.

The fire that originated from a hut inside the refugee camp was fanned out by heavy winds in the afternoon. Fire engines from Itahari, Dharan, Biratnagar and neighbouring towns were called in to put out the fire. It took police and locals over two hours to bring the fire under control.
The fire has made thousands people homeless. Two years ago also, 12,000 refugees were left homeless after fire broke out in the Goldhap camp.

SLC exam starts in Nepal – 2 hours relief in load shedding

Nepal government has reduced the load shedding from 14 hours a day to 12 hours a day to let students appearing in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination, starting from Thursday, March 24, 2011.

The SLC exam taken after grade ten is popularly termed as an Iron Gate for after it’s toughness and a door to higher education. Before plus two system was introduced about a decade back, SLC exam was the end of school and entry into university.

This year’s SLC statistics:

  • Total exam days – 9
  • Students – 496,243
  • Exam centers – 1,672
  • Regular examinees – 436,411
  • Exempted examinees – 59,832 < /li>
  • Number of open schools – 89
  • Students from open schools – 8,140 students (7,794 regular and 346 exempted)
  • Highest number of students – 32,860 (Kathmandu)
  • Least number of students – 122 (Manang)

Examiners:

  • Total – 47,242 personnel
  • Superintendents – 1,672
  • Assistant superintendents – 2,395
  • Invigilators – 19,843
  • Peons – 6,612

The government effort to reduce cheating in the SLC exam has been very unsuccessful. This time Education ministry has promised to be strict in enforcing the law. The Education Act states that students breaching the exam code can fined up to Rs. 100,000 or jailed for six months or or both.

19 arrested – 66-year-old man appeared in SLC exam

19 persons including an exam centre chief have been arrested on charge of leaking the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) question papers in Morang on Thursday Morning.

Police detained Dr. Uddab Pokharel, chief of the exam centre at Star Boarding School (SBS), Biratnagar and Dilli Pokhrel, Asst. chief of the exam centre, and sixteen others, all of whom are associated with different tuition centres in the district, for leaking the question papers, informed SP Dipak Thapa.

The other arrestees have been identified as Manish Sohani Swornakar of Cosmic Education Center at Biratnagar-14, Tika Dhakal, Lilam Pradhan, Prashant Shrestha, Ranjan Shahi, Bhisma Dhamala, Anuj Dahal, Saroj Bhattarai,Saurav Kharel, Ram Thandaar, Yubaraj Bastola, Upendra Mandal, Durga Poudel, Gaurav Ranbansi, Mitra Dhamala and Nirmal Pradhan.

The different tuition centres are Excel Academy, Ideal Education Centre, Royal Star Tuition Centre and Purbanchal Education Centre. All of them were arrested while they were making photocopies of the question papers. Exam centre chief Pokharel is also the owner of Excel Academy and the principal of Star Boarding School.

The leaked question papers were confiscated 10 minutes before the commencement of today’s exam scheduled to start at 8:00 am.

14 students exempted in Salyan

14 students, in Salyan, were exempted from the exam on Thursday for cheating during English exam in Tribhuwan Higher Secondary School, Khalanga Centre, source confirmed.

66-year-old man appeared in SLC exam

Aash Bahadur Gurung, 66-year-old man, of Bijayabasti in Parsa district is giving SLC exam from the examination centre situated at Sharashwoti Higher Secondary School.

His desire to earn higher education after passing SLC has encouraged him to continue study even at this old age, he told RSS.

10 injured in a bomb blast in Rautahat

Ten passengers were injured when a socket bomb went off inside a running bus at Bhediyahi Chowk of Rautahat on Friday afternoon. The critically injured ones are receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Gaur.
The bus was heading from Gaur-Chandranigahapur and the bomb was planted at the last seat of the bus (Ba 2 Kha 5721), said superintendent of Police (SP) Pitambar Adhikari.
Similarly, another explosion took place at the Women Development and Children office just 20 minutes after the bomb blast in the bus. at Gaur. No one was injured in the explosion. Infrastructure in the office was damaged.
Police also recovered another socket bomb in the office premises. A team of Nepali Army has reached the spot to dispose the bomb.
According to SP Adhikari, police has already started its investigation.

Looters shot down in the capital

An unknown gang of looters shot down Prem Maharjan, a technician of Teku-based Excide Battery Company on Thursday evening.
The looters shot at Maharjan and Sudip Basyal as they refused to provide money amid tight security in the Capital due to the arrival of Chinese Army Chief, police said. Basyal, a telephone operator was also injured in the incident and his treatment is going on at Norvic International Hospital.
Family members and relatives of Maharjan demonstrated in Teku on Friday demanding for investigated and necessary action against the guilty. Traffic was obstructed in Teku for about an hour due to the demonstration

The craze of audiences during football match on Saturday in Kaski was more towards famous Nepali actress, Karishma Manandher and Rekha Thapa. Audiences were interested to see Karishma and Rekha than the football between film artists and journalists. Smile of Karishma, teasing of Rekha with tongue and short and stylist dress of both grabbed eyes of the audience.  Photo journalists were busy in taking pictures of Karishma with some young audiences than the picture of football.

Rajesh Payal Rai sang a song “Sagar sari Chokho Maya……..” on the ground along with Rekha. But Rekha hurriedly leaved the ground for airport singing few lines only. The audiences were expecting to see Rekha and Karishma playing. But leaving the Pokhara stadium by Rekha and Karishma disappointed them. Similarly, Sri Krishna Shrestha also leaved the ground for not to miss out the plane.

The known artist players to the audiences in the match were Dhiren Shakya, Srijana Basnet, Rajendra Khadki, Biren Shrestha, Jaikishan Basnet, Shanker B.C. and others were not so popular. So, most went out on the first half. The audiences felt the match less interesting, said some audiences.

Some artists got injured from falling tarpaulin on them due to wind and rain. 2 goals of Subash Meche and 1 goal of Roshan Shrestha, total 3, make the artists winner of the match and Suman Karki did 1 goal for journalist team. Journalist team was able to do 1 goal only.

CA member’s daughter found taking SLC exam for her mother/ 3 fake SLC examinees‚ 2 invigilators arrested

Police detained the daughter of Constituent Assembly (CA) member Kirankumari Ray for giving exams on mother’s behalf. But she was released after short time. She walked out of the exam hall in Shree Chakra Janta Shahid Ganga Higher Secondary School in Barahathawa, Sarlahi Sunday.

Kirankumari Ray, who was nominated CA member from Sarlahi by CPN (UML) under the proportional representation system, was using her daughter to write the exams for School Leaving Certificate (SLC). Her daughter, who has completed Bachelors Degree, wrote the exams for Compulsory English and Compulsory Nepali on Thursday and Friday last week.

Police and the administration have refused to reveal the identity of the detained girl.

Ray had filled the exam forms for SLC from Tribhuvan High School, Manpur, Sarlahi. The Controller of Examinations has expelled CA member Ray from the exams.

3 fake SLC examinees‚ 2 invigilators arrested

Today, three fake SLC examinees and two invigilators were arrested in Saptari, reported by RSS.

Two men, identified as Hansha Raj Kumar Yadav and Pramod Kumar Sah, were arrested from the exam center based as Mahikar Secondary School, who sat for the fourth paper of SLC of their sisters, Shiva Kumari Yadav and Manju Kumari Sah, respectively, according to Area Police Office, Kanchanpur.

Similarly, Major Mukhiya, who faked himself as Dipendra Yadav, the real SLC examinee, was also arrested from Diman exam centre.

Likewise, two invigilators Arun Dev Sah and Bindi Lal Chaudhary were arrested for helping SLC examinees to copy chits in the exam from Barsain exam centre and Bhagatpur centre, respectively.

Continuous bomb blast in public vehicles has occurred in Tarai Region terrifying general people.

  • March 25, 2011- bomb blast in the bus (Ba.2.kha 5721) when heading towards Chandranigahapur from Rautahat and 13 injured.
  • March 26, 2011- bomb blast in the bus (Na.4.kha 1332) when heading towards Kohalpur from Nepalgunj and 6 injured.
  • March 26, 2011-Police recovers explosive devices from seven different locations of Banke and Bardiya District, 3 in Banke and 4 in Bardia.
  • March 27, 2011- bomb blast in the microbus (Lu.1.kha. 3666) when heading towards Butwal from Bhairahawa, 22 injured, 1 died on the way when bringing to Kathmandu
  • March 27, 2011- bomb blast in stopped public vehicle (Ba.2.kha. 5771) in Kavre, Kathmandu valley at mid-night, 1 injured.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had warned Nepal Police, Armed Police and National Investigation bureau to remain on high alert.

High level persons of both Nepal Police Force and Armed Police Force have suspected that the explosions could have been carried out by the Indian side to further pressurize newly formed government, published in the Kantipur daily.

DIG and Spokesman of Nepal Police Nabaraj Dhakal said security personnel have beefed up security in public places and has stepped up security mechanism. He said police are concerned over the blasts and criminal activities within the last two weeks in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Rupandeshi and Janakpur districts. (RSS)

DIG Dhakal added police chiefs in concerned districts have been directed to make security tight and said, “We have been making the best use of the human resources of Nepal Police to prevent any incident from happening.”

Police say the series of bomb blast in Terai is the respond to the death of Bhawani Singh from Bhawani Singh group (an armed outfit) who was gunned down during shootout between him, his aides and the police.

The DIG said, Bhawani Singh’s group is not affiliated to any party. They are active in Terai just for financial gain and have been collecting ransom by kidnapping people.”
