I have compiled a list of Top 10 old Nepali movies you shouldn’t miss. Clicks on the respective posters lead to the page with full movie. All the movies are available to watch. Half of the top 10 movies in this list are directed by Tulsi Ghimire. Others are directed by Hira Singh Khatri, Sambhu Pradhan, Nir Shah and Yadav Kharel. Five movies directed by Tusli Ghimire, two by Nir Shah and one each by Hira Singh, Sambhu Pradhan and Yadav Kharel.

1. Aama (1964) Directed by Hira Singh Khatri

First ever Nepali movie made in Nepal, by the government of Nepal is a black and white movie.

The actor who had been active in Nepali movie industry for the last 30 years, Bhuwan KC, is one of the most successful actors. Apart from acting in a number of hit movies, he has also produced many hit films. Bhuwan’s super hit movies include ‘Kusume Rumal’, ‘Karodpati’, ‘Saino’, ‘Kanyadan’, ‘Chino’, and ‘Ma Timi Bina Marihalchu’.

Bhuwan has entered in a new role – a director in his upcoming movie ‘Dreams’. Apart from acting in movie, Bhuwan also likes to watch movies. Looking back to his acting career, he has chosen the top five movies he liked the most:

Kanyadan

Bhuwan says, ‘Kanyadaan’ is the movie he liked the most among his movies. The movie directed by Prakash Thapa is fun to watch. Bhuwan says, “The movie is about child marriage. The movie features both the entertainment and a good message to the viewers. With Bhuwan KC the movie also features actors like Gauri Malla, Rabi Shah, Subhadra Adhikari, Gopal Raj Mainali, Basundhara Bhusal, Laxmi Giri and Muralidhar.

Starring – Bhuwan KC, Tripti Nadkar, Muralidhar, Phurba Lama, Nirmala Chhetri, Maya Kumai, Shanti Pradhan, SL Nadakar, Gyan Lama, Jyoti Pradhan, Pradeep Pakhrin, JB Rai, Kamal Pradhan, Sahiba Rai etc.

The debut movie of popular actress Tripti Nadkar is made under Ishwori Films banner. The classic movie featuring the romance between Tripti and Bhuwan KC was liked by the Nepali audience and was a super hit film in the 1980s.

Muralidhar’s real name is mentionedÂ Murali Mijhar in the credit of the movie. The movie features the choreography by Chumaki Lama, cinematography by Binod Pradhan, lyrics by Kusum Gajamer, music by Ranjit Gajamer. The movie was written, edited and produced by the director Shambhu Pradhan himself.
