Half of the top 10 movies in this list are directed by Tulsi Ghimire. Others are directed by Hira Singh Khatri, Sambhu Pradhan, Nir Shah and Yadav Kharel. Five movies directed by Tusli Ghimire, two by Nir Shah and one each by Hira Singh, Sambhu Pradhan and Yadav Kharel.

First ever Nepali movie made in Nepal, by the government of Nepal is a black and white movie.

The 2015 release movie written by the lead actor, Khagendra Lamichhane, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ is a movie about the problem of poverty. The movie directed by Dipendra K Khanal was liked by critics and the viewers. Khagendra’s previous movie ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ was also a very successful movie. I would recommend you to watch both of them but, let me count both of them as one.
A love-story movie, release in 2013 is set in a very beautiful location in Mustang. The movie featuring Nischal Basnet, Rishma Gurung, Dayahang Rai and Rajan Khatiwada in leading role is directed by Ram Babu Gurung. After the huge success of ‘Kabaddi’ its sequel ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ was also released in 2015. If you like ‘Kabaddi’ you won’t be dissapointed by its sequel ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ too.

A presentation fo New Century Pictures, Nepali movie ‘Basanti’ is based on Diamond Shumser Rana’s novel “Basanti”. The movie features top actors in Nepali film industry. The director, Nir Shah, himself had produced this movie. The actor Rajesh Hamal has told that ‘Basanti’ is one of his favorite movies. The movie is set in an ancient time – featuring the high class lifestyle of Rana people. This is one of the few movies that were made on the story of a popular book and became successful as a movie too. Encouraged by the success of this movie, Nir Shah had recently produced a movie based on another novel of Diamond Shumser, ‘Seto Bagh’.
