UPDATE: Karishma Manandhar has made the clarification that she hadn’t chosen the actresses but Kantipur had asked her to share her thoughts on the five actresses.
The actress, Karishma Manandhar, has chosen the top five actresses in Nepali film industry. In a report published in Kantipur by Gokarna Gautam, the top five actresses according to Karishma are:
It is to be noted that Shilpa Pokahrel is featured the lead actress in Karishma’s last week release ‘Fagu’. Although, all the movies of Shilpa released so far are hit (both ‘Lazza’ and ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ were hit and ‘Fagu’ is doing well in theater) Karishma has placed her in the fifth place.

Priyanka Karki

The Miss Teen 2005, Priyanka Karki, debuted as an actress in television serial ‘Gharbeti Ba’ and also worked as a video jockey in Katntipur Television in 2006 and 2007. She went to the USA for further studies and completed her Bachelors in Filmmaking from the University of Alabama in 2011. She also married Rochak Mainali while living in the USA. But, after Priyanka returned back to Nepal to pursue acting career, she divorced Rochak in 2012.
According to Karishma Priyanka is disciplined and has a lot of positive vibration. Karishma likes Priyanka’s personality and appreciates her dress sense. Priyanka’s body figure also attracts Karishma. She says, Priyanka is the busiest actress and the highest paid actress. Because of her acting, passion and capability, Priyanka will remain active in the film industry for a long time.
Namrata Shrestha
Karishma appreciates the ability of Namrata Shrestha to deal with the adverse situations in her life. She believes, Namrata has made a safe landing from a very difficult situation. From the outside, Namrata is a very beautiful person and in the inside she has a very strong personality. Namrata’s acting is matured. Karishma believes, Namrata’s age won’t effect her acting and her involvement in the Nepali film industry.
Richa Sharma
Actress Richa Sharma is quite different from other actresses. It’s not only her looks, her thoughts and understanding are different from others. Karishma thinks, her black-beauty appearance would have been appreciated in the USA more than here. Although Richa doesn’t fit in every kinds of roles, she shines in some roles more than others.
Richa looks great in realistic and challenging roles. She tries to experiment in different characters in movies. Karishma prefers to compare Richa with Bollywood actresses Sabana Azmi and Smita Patel.
Keki Adhikari
Karishma thinks Keki has a cute face. Her background is also film related and he is a well educated actress. She is cultured and disciplined. Despite of all the positive things, she has made a lot of wrong choices when doing movies. She should focused in quality rather than quantity when working in movies. If she could be choosey in what roles she does, she has a very bright future in the Nepali film industry.
Shilpa Pokharel
Karishma told that Shilpa was like her daughter. Until the director Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar introduced her to Karishma she hadn’t known much about the actress. She was selected to act in ‘Fagu’ based on her performance in ‘Lazza’. Karishma found Shilpa hardworking and energetic. Although Shilpa’s looks is normal she has a very good screen face. She is also good in action and dance. If she continues to work like that, she is going to be the future of the Nepali film industry.
