I had initially written this post on Jun 24, 2007. The videos posted at that time are removed. So, I created a video myself – a National anthem video to add in this post.
The National anthem before the country became a republic nation was King’s anthem. The anthem only talked about the king and his land. I will prepare a video about the old national anthem and will update this post in a few days.
When I was a little kid, we had to sing the anthem everyday in the morning. Continue reading
5,000 beer cans and skilled hands made a recycled replica of Ford Mustang 1965.
Like all good students Jack Kirby collected his beers cans. Unlike most good students the art and design student actually found a use for them.
When he realised Budweiser was giving away his dream car, a 1965 Ford Mustang, he spent a month crafting this recycled replica. Kirby said: “I love Mustangs, and when I heard that Budweiser was putting one up for auction I didn’t want to miss out. I’ve got everything crossed that I win but if I don’t I have the next best thing – an exact replica built from Budweiser cans!”
One friend of mine sent a couple of scanned copies of local newspapers. I want to share these weird accidents involving mobile phones. Comments will be highly appreciated.
A bit of history of mobile phone in Nepal: First GSM Mobile service was launched in Nepal in 1999. Since then there have been many mobile subscribers to the service. Another service provider, Mero Mobile, started its service in 2005. However, they haven’t been able to provide the service as per demand.
Most of Indian women are housewives and their favorite pass-time is viewing TV. With never ending addictive TV serials many are accused of skipping their daily routines to watch TV.
Well, I found a classic photo of such Indian women:
… what would you call to this addiction to TV of these women from India who in spite of having their home flooded with water are reluctant to leave their favorite programs on TV.
TV Addiction
TV Addiction is the thing of the past after the invention of mobile phone. These days, mobile phones are more addictive than anything else. But, in the past, TV used to be called “plug-in drug”.
Colour TV was manufactured by The Radio Corporation of America on March 25, 1954, at Indiana plant. At that time, it was termed “the wonderful world of color.†In the USA the number of households with TV sets increased from 87% in 1960 to over 98% in 2001. These days, most homes have more than one TV – about 2.4 TV per home on average. Continue reading
Allegedly under the influence and with a small amount of cocaine in her pants pocket, Lindsay Lohan was arrested after chasing the mother of her personal assistant in her car early Tuesday morning, as said by Santa Monica police. That too: just five days after Lohan was booked in connection with a May drunken driving charge.
I got a CNN video cover to share with you. If you want to read about the full story visit this page in CNN web site.
All I can do is to send Lindsey positive vibes and encouragement to get better. She will have to find the strength within herself to have peace with this chapter in her life.
Lohan says she is innocent
“I am innocent … did not do drugs they’re not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin’s mom I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy,†Lohan wrote in an e-mail to Access Hollywood host Billy Bush.
That was after her arrest (see above) and release Tuesday morning after posting $25,000 bail.

Condom Fashion Show in China
Jul 22, 2007
Condom fashion show was held at the Fourth China Reproductive Health New Technologies and Products Expo and organized by China’s largest condom manufacturer, Guilin Latex Factory, to promote the use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Beijing July 11, 2007. It marked the World Population Day, organized annually by the U.N. Population Fund.
Models showed off tight-fitting wedding gowns, scaly-looking evening dresses, outrageous bikinis and other garments made entirely of condoms.
Condoms of all shapes and sizes were displayed at the fashion show featuring dresses, hats and even lollipops made of them.
For your entertainment, I am presenting some photos from the fashion show.
I don’t care much about religion or faith. But architecture is a different thing. I however appreciate beautiful architecture whether it is a religious one or non-religious one.
I am fascinated by a Hindu temple, Swaminarayan Mandir, in a Hindu-minority country, Canada. The example of the ancient art and architecture opened officially on July 22, 2007 and is located near Highway 427 and Finch Avenue West, Toronto.
The $40-million project involved more than 2,000 Indian craftsmen. In addition to the craftsmen and about 400 volunteers from Toronto’s Hindu community also volunteered in the construction for more than a year.
The building was constructed by using 24,000 hand-carved pieces of Turkish limestone and Italian Carrara marble. The rock pieces prepared out of Canada, were shipped across the ocean and were assembled in Toronto. It was such a big project and because of the thousands of rock pieces, each of the parts were marked with a bar code to help in the assembly. The construction was like assembling various pieces to make it into the huge temple building. Continue reading
A 10-YEAR-OLD girl, worshiped as a living goddess in Nepal has had her title reinstated after defying tradition and visiting the US. Temple authorities at her home town in Bhaktapur were quoted as saying that the visit had tainted her purity, and that they were beginning the search for a successor.
But yesterday they said she would not be stripped of her title because she was willing to undergo a “cleansing” ceremony to remove any sins. Sajani Shakya was one of the three most-revered Kumaris, who are honored by Hindus and Buddhists alike.
Human rights activists believe that the tradition constitutes child abuse.
I will post a detailed review of Kumari tradition in coming days.
Update on March 3, 2008
Living Goddess Kumari, Sajani Shakya, Retired
Last year, Sajani made international headlines after she visited the United States to promote a film by British company about the ancient practice. Some religious authorities criticised the trip, saying it was against tradition. They even threatened to strip her of the title, but the threat was later withdrawn.
In a latest news, The 11-year-old Sajani Shakya was revered for nine years as the Kumari of the ancient temple-town of Bhaktapur. Kumaris traditionally retire when they reach the age menstruation.
Kumari Tradition in Nepal
Kumari is some times called a Living Goddess in Nepal. It is a tradition of worshipping young pre-pubescent girls as manifestations of the divine female energy or devi in Hindu religious traditions. The word Kumari is derived from the Sanskrit Kaumarya, meaning “princess”.
The pre-pubescent girl os selected from the Shakya caste or Bajracharya clan of the Nepalese Newari community. The selected Kumari is revered and worshiped by Hindus and Buddhists in Kathmandu valley. There are several Kumaris in Nepal. The best known Kumari is the Royal Kumari of Kathmandu who lives in the Kumari Ghar, located at a palace in the center of the city.
The selection of kumari is a very rigorous process. As of 2010, the Royal Kumari was Matina Shakya, aged four, installed in October 2008 by the Maoist government that replaced the monarchy. Unika Bajracharya, selected in April 2014 as the Kumari of Patan, is the second most important living goddess in Nepal.
As per Sunday 15th July 2007’s HT City (Delhi edition), Neha Dhupia, bared it all and it was all captured on video.
Well, Neha was called over at Prlhad Kakkar’s studio for an audition and was asked to strip and to the surpirse of everyone watching her, she did that. It was an MTV Bakra shooting and the producers had thought that our Delhi di kuri Neha would create a scene and actually not do as asked.
But, as per the newspaper, she did it and the film has been either locked somewhere or destroyed (too bad if it has been destroyed). The newspaper said that she convinved the “MTV Bakra team” to not air the shots.
In another news:
She is the one that made the censor board fall from chair. But now she realizes undressing her lingerie in front of camera can be creative arts. She is trying to integrate mainstream acting in movie with her traditional creative dare bare attitude. Bollywood is not looking for lose nudity. It is looking for sex and romance from people who make it hard for any one to get. Neha is intelligent. She understood the real picture very fast.
Apparently, Neha is now doing ‘Siskiyaan’ which is supposed to be a psychological thriller. But what is interesting was that the film is being touted as a ‘no sex quotient’ movie, which will be filled with ‘explosively provocative drama’ and ‘lethal surprises’ – only.
In the latest news, a 16-year-old girl Xu Haojia is auctioning her breasts for charity.
The Shanghai Daily reports,
Xu Haojia, who lives in Qingdao, China, claimed to have the biggest breasts in China and said in her blog that she hoped five Chinese celebrities, all male, can bid for her breasts because “they may need the fat to change to be females in the future.”Xu once worked as a personal assistant for “Sister Lotus,” a woman in Beijing who became famous – or infamous – among Chinese Web surfers by posting private pictures and boasting about her great figure that many people said was “disgusting.”
The link to Sister Lotus may mean Xu’s offer to auction her breasts is simply a publicity stunt to gain fame.
“I hope they can offer 200,000 yuan (US$26,316) each for the auction,” Xu said in an article in her blog entitled “The No. 1 breasts want an auction for love donation” on June 30 at Sohu.com, a popular Web portal on the Chinese mainland.
Similar to the one involving Rosie Reid, a student from the University of Bristol (UK) who sold her virginity online in 2004 to the highest bidder, this one is also creating lot of concerns over the world.
It seems she will have them surgically removed, and will literally hand her disembodied mammaries over to the highest bidder.
Indian Woman Publicly Strips to Protest in Dowry Row
Dowry is a real problem in India and it is a very bold move of this Indian woman, Pooja Chauhan to strip to her underwear in public to protest against this system.
A woman in western India has stripped to her underwear in public to protest over alleged abuses from her husband’s family for not providing a dowry.
Her in-laws were questioned by the police and have been released on bail.
The Hindu woman shocked residents of the normally conservative city of Rajkot in Gujarat state, by her half-naked parade through the street.
Women’s groups say her case highlights the plight of women who continue to face abuse at the hands of males.
There are reports that the 22-year-old tried to set herself on fire a few days ago demanding the police take immediate action against her husband and in-laws, who she alleged had been physically torturing her for a dowry.
In an interview to a local TV channel, Pooja Chauhan justified her action saying she did it to embarrass her husband and in-laws.
And this quote from Times of India, they have posted option to debate on weather Pooja is a victim or a culprit. At the time I wrote this post, 82% agree that she is a victim and the rest didn’t.
Baseball bat in one hand, bangles in another, a 22-year-old mother stripped to her underwear and walked down the water-logged streets of small-town Rajkot to draw the attention of authorities to what she called mental and physical torture by her husband and in-laws.

Eleven rules – you will never learn in school
Jun 30, 2007
Charles Sykes, author of DUMBING DOWN OUR KIDS, speaks at high school and college graduations sharing a list of things the graduates did not learn in school. In his book, he talks about how the ongoing feel good, politically correct atmosphere has created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and set them up for failure in the real world.
RULE 1
Life is not fair – get used to it.
RULE 2
The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
RULE 3
You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice president with car phone, until you earn both.
RULE 4
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn’t have tenure.
RULE 5
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping they called it Opportunity.
RULE 6
If you mess up,it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
RULE 7
Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
RULE 8
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
RULE 9
Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
RULE 10
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
RULE 11
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.
Got it from this link.
‘Corpse flower’ blooms at Zoo and it sure stinks
The rare titan arum plant bloomed early Monday morning at Cleveland MetroParks Zoo.
Date: Monday, July 23, 2007
Height: 57 inches
Width: 32 inches
Cronus bloomed early this morning!
Because of its pungent smell the rare plant is also known as the ‘corpse flower’. The flower is native to the Sumatran rainforest. Thanks to the Zoo’s Rainforest, Clevelanders can get a glimpse, and smell it.
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is one of the 20 North American locations boasting a titan arum bloom. You can see bloom history photo feature in this Zoo page. In the adjacent photo, Zoo Horticulture Manager Don Krock inspecting Cronus’ bloom.
The Zoo has had its titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) for 13 years, and this is the first time it bloomed. It was obtained in 1994 from the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Its next bloom could be years down the line. While the blooming is glorious, it is accompanied by a pungent smell that lasts for about a day. Only 20 North American institutions have reported titan arums blooming. This is the first in the state of Ohio.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s marriage created a huge media sensation and their families tried to make it as private as possible. Hence, very few photos of their marriage are available. I am posting some of the pictures for you. First let me tell about them and the marriage.
Abhishek Bachchan was earlier engaged to Karisma Kapoor. The couple announced their engagement on Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday celebration in October 2002. The engagement was called off in January 2003.
After much speculation concerning their relationship, Aishwarya Rai’s engagement to Abhishek Bachchan was announced on January 14, 2007. The event was heavily covered by the media. They married on April 20, 2007 in a private ceremony held at the Bachchans’ bungalow Prateeksha
