Gold lover Nepali ministers – How rich are Cabinet Ministers of KP Oli

It seems, the communist ministers of KP Oli cabinet are fans of gold. Here is a video report about the details:

Top 5 ministers with most gold in their possession:

  1. Rabindra Adhikari – 60 Tola
  2. Raghubir Mahaseth – 52 Tola
  3. Jagat Bahadur Sunar Bishwokarma – 50 Tola
  4. Sher Bahadur Tamang – 30 Tola
  5. KP Oli – 18 Tola

Other ministers and their gold amount are:

  • Padma Kumari Aryal – 15 Tola
  • Barshaman Pun – 15 Tola
  • Matirka Yadav – 14 Tola
  • Yuwaraj Khatiwada  -10 Tola
  • Lalbabu Pandit – 10 Tola

Ministers with less than 10 tola gold include – Ishwor Pokhrel (9 Tola), Gokarna Bista (7 Tola), Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ (6 Tola), Chakra Pani Khanal (6 Tola), Shakti Bahadur Basnet (5 Tola), Bina Magar (5 Tola), Pradip Kumar Gyawali (2 tola), Thapamaya Thapa (1 Tola).

Minister Girarajmani Pokharel has reported that he doen’t have any gold in his possession.

According to the law (Bhrastachar Niwaran Law, 2059) all the officials who works in a public office should declare their wealth within 60 days of their appointment to the post. Such self declaration is expected to help the officials to minimize corruption.

Prime Minister KP Oli’s wealth increase

In the self-declaration of the prime minister, KP Oli has Rs. 4,200,000 in his bank account. Rest of his wealth is kept in his wife Radha Shakya’s name.

Last time when he became the Prime Minister (2070 BS), he had Rs. 700,000 in that bank account. The net increase in his money is Rs. 3,500,000. The gold in his possession at that time was 14 Tola, now it is increased by 4 Tola.

PM’s wife, Radha Shakya has 1.5 Ropani land in Bhaktapur and 10 Kattha land in Jhapa. She also has a residential home in Bhaktapur made in a land of 1 Ropani. Radha Shakya had worked as a first class officer of Nepal Rastra Bank and she has RS. 25 lakh saving certificate.

Radha has Rs. 10 Lakh in Machhapuchhre Bank and Prabhu Bank.

Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel’s wealth

Ishwor Pokharel has 12 Kattha land in Chandragadhi of Jhapa. He has a three-storied ancestral home in Tokha. Pokharel has Rs. 700,000 share in Nepal Investment Bank.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’s wealth

The home minister doesn’t have wealth in his name. His wife Nainakala Thapa has 1 kattha and 0.75 Dhur land at Chitrasen Marga, Bharatpur Chitwan. He has declared 6 tola gold and Rs. 3 lakh in cash.

Foreign Minister Pradip Gyawali’s wealth


Pradeep has a 2-storied building made on a 4 aana land in Kathmandu. He has Rs. 2,57,000 in Everest Bank, and 2000 in Krishi Bikash Bank.

Finance Minister Dr. Yuwaraj Khatiwada wealth


Dr. Khatiwada has declared land of amount Ra. 14,000,000. The land is registered jointly between him and his wife.

Lalbabu Pandit has 1 Kattha land in Biratnagar 12, Morang. He has 5-room building. He has also declared a bicycle under his possession.

Minister of Law, Sher Bahadur Tamang has lands in Sindhupallanchowk, Morang and Khotang. His 2.5-storied house in Kathmandu is registered under his wife’s name.

Richest Minister – Raghubir Mahaseth

True to his name – he is the Mahaseth (richest man) – the richest minister in KP Oli cabinet. The minister of Transportation, Raghubir, has the most wealth in the cabinet.
