Government asked to punish Indian Embassy

A parliamentary committee in Nepal has directed the Nepal Government to take action against the Indian Embassy in Nepal for the press release, that is against the diplomatic norms.

Nepal’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations and Human Rights has decided that the ‘press release’ against Nepali press by a foreign body is unacceptable and the government shouldn’t take more time in summoning the Ambassador and ask the motive behind the attack against Nepali press.

According to Kantipur publication, the head of the committee, lawmaker Padmalal Bishwakarma told that the Embassy’s press statement was targeted against the press freedom.

The members of the Committee had expressed their disaffection on repeated encroachment of the Embassy in the internal affairs of the country.

The foreign minister, Sujata Koirala, has expressed sadness on the Indian Embassy’s statement against the press freedom. (source)

After the Real Juice event, we had renamed the Indian Embassy the Real Embassy. They have tried to show their presence in every minor and major political events previously. Now, they have started taking action against press and local businesses. In
response to the protest of Nepali press against the Indian Embassy, Dabur Nepal has threatened to take it’s investment back to India. Due to the political instability, foreign investment is hard to come by and Dabur’s departure would certainly be a set-back to the Nepalese economy.

It is to be noted that an alleged "death threat" against a Maoist lawmaker, am Kumar Sharma, by the Indian Embassy is still in the investigation stage.
