Shree Krishna Shrestha
The death of actor Shree Krishna Shrestha was a very unexpected and hurtful death in the Nepali film industry. Shree Krishna died within a month of his marriage to actress Sweta Khadka. He died a day after the release of his home production movie ‘Kohinoor’. Shree Krishna had an image of lover-boy and a good dancer in the movies. He was liked by viewers and colleagues. Both of his home production movies ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ (watch ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ here) and ‘Kohinoor’ were super hit movies.
The director of the first Newari film, ‘Silu’ (watch ‘Silu’ here), Pradeep Rimal has died in USA on February 6, 2015. Rimal was living in Washington DC, USA for some time with his family members. On Friday, he was taken to the hospital after sudden pain in his stomach. He died after a while in the hospital.
Born in 1994 (BS) in Lubhu, Lalitpur, Rimal has also directed films like ‘Maya’ and ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera’. He also worked as the assistant director of the 1966 film ‘Maitighar’ (watch ‘Maitighar’ here) and had acted in the film ‘Hijo Aaja Bholi’. ‘Silu’ was released in 1987 AD.

The classical and the first ever Newari movie Shilu was made on the story popular among Newar people living in Kathmandu and it was liked by the Newari population living in Nepal and abroad. The movie was released in November of 1987
Nepali Movie – Maitighar (1966) Starring – Mala Sinha, CP Lohani, Yadav Kharel, Tika Bhushan Dahal, Yam Bahadur Khadka, Sunita Regmi, Yadu Kumari, BS Thapa etc. Director – BS Thapa
This is one of the earliest Nepali movie featuring a lot of Indian artists. Late director Pradeep Rimal was the assistant director of the film. Pradeep Rimal died on February 6, 2015 in the USA. The movie was made on black-and-white. More details here.
