Shree Krishna, Alok Nembang, Lost in 2071 BS

It is time to say goodbye to 2071BS and welcome the new year 2072 BS in Nepal. On the new year, we are reviewing the year. In this post we are reviewing the Nepali movie personalities we lost in the year. Three great loss of Nepali film industry this year are:

  • Shree Krishna Shrestha (death on August 9, 2014)
  • Alok Nembang (death on November 9, 2014)
  • Pradeep Rimal (death on February 6, 2015)

Shree Krishna Shrestha

The death of actor Shree Krishna Shrestha was a very unexpected and hurtful death in the Nepali film industry. Shree Krishna died within a month of his marriage to actress Sweta Khadka. He died a day after the release of his home production movie ‘Kohinoor’. Shree Krishna had an image of lover-boy and a good dancer in the movies. He was liked by viewers and colleagues. Both of his home production movies ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ (watch ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ here) and ‘Kohinoor’ were super hit movies.

Friday Release, Ajhai Pani and Mission Paisa Reloaded

This Friday, on February 27, two new movies are releasing – ‘Ajhai Pani’ and ‘Mission Paisa Reloaded’. The last film of the late director Alok Nembang, ‘Ajhai Pani’ was premiered three days before the release among film artists and journalists.

Mission Paisa 2 Reloaded

The sequel of the movie ‘Mission Paisa’ (watch the original ‘Mission Paisa’) is an action comedy movie by director Simosh Sunuwar. The movie features Nisha Adhikari, Amir Gautam, Resh Marahatta and Harshika Shrestha in leading role. The script of the film is written by Prachanda Man Shrestha and is jointly produced by madhav Wagle and Narendra Maharjan. The censor board has awarded a PG certificate to the film.

Ajhai Pani premiered, Alok Nembang remembered

Three days before the official release of the last film of late director Alok Nembang, ‘Ajhai Pani’ was premiered in Big Movies. In the event, well known musician, Sambhujit Baskota, was honored with the Alok Nembang Award through Trust Alok. Alok’s mother and the producer Poonam Gautam felicitated Sambhujit Baskota with an award.

Sambhujit Baskota is the first music video director in Nepal to make a music video. He started directed the music video in 2043BS featuring actor Bhuwan KC

Alok Nembang profile and movies, a tribute

‘Kal Mahima’ by the Kavi Shiromani, Lekhnath Poudel – A tribute to the late director Alok Nembang with a slideshow video. The video is prepared to mark the 45-days of the death (on December 20).

Watch the movies directed and featuring Alok Nembang: Numafung featured Alok Nembang as an actor. This is the debut movie of Alok as an actor. ‘Sano Sansar’ was the debut movie of Alok as film director. His last movie ‘Ajhai Pani’ is yet to be released.

The only addition to this list of movies is going to be ‘Ajhai Pani’ when it becomes available online.

Alok Nembang, the rising star set too early (photos)

The body of the well known film director and director of music video, Alok Nembang, was kept at Pragya Pratisthan for the last goodbye. Film artists, music video models and technicians and a lot of general public went to see Alok for the last time.

Alok had died after committing suicide at his home on Thursday.

When Alok was studying in grade five, he ran away from home to see Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in Mumbai. In the start of his career, Alok worked as a VJ in Image Channel.  Continue reading

Sad news, Alok Nembang committed suicide

Well known director Alok Nembang has committed suicide at around 8 PM today in his house. The Maharajgunj police has confirmed that he was found hanging in his house.

Actress Pooja Sharma celebrated her birthday in ‘Ajhai Pani’ announcement press meet

Actress Pooja Sharma cut the birthday cake on April 30 in an event held in Kathmandu. The press meet organized to inform about upcoming movie ‘Ajhai Pani’ was also the birthday celebration ceremony. Talking at the event, Pooja told that the movie is her birthday gift.

‘Ajhai Pani’ features two well known directors – Alok Nembang and Sudarshan Thapa. Alok will direct the movie and Sudarshan will be featured in the leading role. With Sudarshan and Pooja the movie will also feature Surakshya Pant, Puspa Pant, and Bishal Dhungana. Actors Mithila Sharma, Bijaya Lama and Ramsharan Pathak will also have guest roles in the movie.

Alok Nembang to feature Sudarshan Thapa and Pooja Sharma in Ajhai Pani

After 5 years of absence from the film industry, Alok Nembang is returning in upcoming movie ‘Ajhai Pani’. The love story movie is to be jointly produced by Sudarshan Thapa Production and Poonam Gautam. 

In addition to being the producer and a well known director, Sudarshan Thapa will be featured in the leading role in the movie. Actress Pooja Sharma (‘Madhumash‘ fame actress) will be featured opposite to Sudarshan. Talking about the movie, Pooja said, "The best of me is yet to come, in the upcoming movie Ajhai Pani."

Nepali Movie – Numafung
Starring – Anupama Subba, Niwahangma Limbu, Prem Subba, Alok Nembang, Ramesh Singhak etc.

Introduction:

This movie, Numafung, was made in Limbu language and had received the runners-up award from among 123 entries in the International Film Festival in Dhaka, Bangladesh in September 2003. Numafung received US$ 2000 and a certificate for being second in the contest participated in by 36 countries. Nabin Subba directed Numafung, which literally means “beautiful flower.” Indian film ‘Lesson One’ directed by TV Chandra stood first in the festival. The film received US$ 6,000 and a certificate.

In a program held in Kathmandu Aryan Sigdel and the team announced the details of his debut movie as a producer. The movie named ‘November Rain’ will be directed by the director of ‘I am Sorry’, Dinesh Raut, and will feature Aryan, Namrata Shrestha and a new actress Chhulthim Gurung in lead roles.

Loot – new confidence in Nepali movie industry

Our congratulation to Loot for it’s 51 days celebration on Friday, March 2, 2012 !

This year had been a bit different for Nepali film industry. There used to be a trend in our film industry that, a movie require star cast to be a hit. This year, neither nor Rekha Thapa could ensure a good box office collection. At the same time, new director, new music director, and few struggling actors in ‘Loot‘ proved that a good movie doesn’t need star cast.

Yes, ‘Loot’ is still running in theaters and is extending its market to overseas too.

The fact that ‘Loot’ has become a hot cake topic among the film makers and movie goers left me wondering: is it such a wonderful movie? Should everybody watch it ?

Nepali Movies – A clash between old and new generations

For the last two decades, Nepali film industry has been ruled by and his craze hasn’t diminished to date. The new comer actors had tried to follow his path, but none have succeeded. Hamal represents masala types of movies with common ingredients like action, comedy, songs, and glamorous actresses.
