Palash Premier, mixed review
A day before the release, the movie was premiered among the film industry personalities and journalists. The only film team member unavailable in the premier was the director Subash Koirala. According to the viewers, the first half of the movie is good but, the second half is not as good as the first half.
Talking during the premier event, actress Rekha Thapa told that the director had left the movie midway and the director Krisha Chalagain had to take over the directing of the movie. The producer however hasn’t told about the details about the problem with the director. Rekha told that it was Krisha who had directed the second half of the movie – the part that is not as strong as the first part.
In the premier the acting of Rekha Thapa, Kameshowr and Kamal Devkota were appreciated for their acting.
Why ‘A’ rating?
‘Palash’ got an A rating from the censor board. According to the producers, the rating was given because of the dialogues in the movie, not the visual contents. The producer Krisha Chaulagain told that, instead of removing the dialogues and making the movie lame, she decided to go with the ‘A’ rating.
A Nepali movie with ‘A’ rating is only for the viewers more than 16 years of age.
Controversial producer Krisha Chaulagain
The producer Krisha Chaulagain had been one of the most controversial film producers in the Nepali film industry. I wrote about the controversy between Krisha Chaulagain and Binita Baral when she was trying to debut as an actress. Binita was signed in ‘Ke Ma Timro Sathi Banna Sakchhu’ but, was abruptly removed at the time of shooting.
In Krisha’s another movie, ‘Kasam Hajurko’ Krisha had an affair with the director Ram Raja Dahal. Krisha accused the director and her boyfriend at that time, completed the direction but didn’t show up for the post-production. Krisha told that she had to do the post-production stuffs all by herself. (Read more about ‘Kasam Hajurko’ scandal)
Krisha later married Pritam Lamichhane.
It seems, ‘Kasam Hajurko’ style problem with the director happened again in ‘Palash’ shooting. Ram Raja Dahal had completed the shooting but Subash Koirala allegedly didn’t even complete the shooting and left halfway. In both cases, Krisha reportedly completed the movie.
