Samragyee’s Timi Sanga to compete with Karishma Manandhar’s Heros

This week on Friday, April 5, 2018, two new movies are released in theatre. The third film of Samragyee RL Shah, ‘Timi Sanga’ is released in single theatres and multiplexes. Another new release is ‘Heros’, a film by the actress of the film, Purnima Lama. Actress Karishma Manandhar is also featured in ‘Heros’.

About ‘Timi Sanga’

The movie by Shishir Rana is made on a triangular love story. The movie featuring Samragyee RL Shah, Akash Shrestha and Najir Hussain is produced and directed by actor Shishir Rana. Shishir is also featured in a role in the movie.

The movie shot in beautiful locations in Pokhara, Ghandruk, Annupurna Base Camp and Kathmandu features beautiful sceneries. Two songs of the film released earlier had also received positive feedback. The director and writer Rana says that the movie is made on an original story. He has told that he has used all the knowledge he had gained while working in the film industry during his entire career.

Firke and Rajja Rani, Friday Release

Two new films are released this week in Nepali theatre – both comedy gerne films. The movie directed by Rabi Dangol ‘Beiman’, ‘Firke’ is going to compete with Keki Adhikari’s film ‘Rajja Rani’.

About ‘Rajja Rani’

The movie made on the story of Terai region, features Keki Adhikari and Nazir Hussain in leading role. The movie made under Aryan Films Production banner and produced and directed by Yam Thapa, the movie is shot at Pathar in Nepalgunj area. The love story movie also features actress Rekha Thapa in a guest role. Other artists in the movie are Kameshowr Chaurasiya, Laxmi Bardewa, Sangita Napit, Arun Regmi, Deepak Chhetri, Binod Niraula, Anoj Pandey, Ashok Acharya, Anuj Thapa and others.

Friday Release – Deepjyoti (Rajani KC first film)

The first film actress Rajani KC signed was ‘Deepjyoti’. But, she debuted in Chhabi Raj Ojha’s film ‘Loafer’ and failed to impress the viewers. But, ‘Pardeshi’ became a blockbuster hit, establishing Rajani as one of the successful actress in the film industry.

Because of the election time in Nepal, film producers are reluctant to release new movies. That is one of the reasons, the movie ‘Deepjyoti’ has got more than 80 theatres on its own. The movie featuring Khusbu Khadka, Rajani KC, Saroj Khanal, Nir Shah, Pramod Deep, Puskar Regmi and others, is made under NP Films banner. The movie is directed by Narayan Mainali. Ramji Lamichhane is the choreographer, Samrat Basnet is action director and cinematographers are Ramsharan Upreti and Rahul Rai.

The movie is made on the need of love and the sacrifice to be made to obtain it. A presentation of Krishna Khaal, the executive producer of the movie is Ram Krishna Adhikari.

Kri and Kanchhi controversy and the Myth of Multiple releases

It is a myth that multiple film releases on the same day hurt the producer. I reached to the conclusion after a bit of research on the history of such releases in the past.

After I wrote the news about the two new and highly awaited movies – Anmol KC’s ‘Kri’ and Shweta Khadka’s ‘Kanchhi’ releasing on the same day for the Valentine Day of 2018, I thought about the benefits and loss to the producers by such releases. Apart from my personal analysis the research on the history of film releases also supported the notion that – good films are successful no matter how many films release on that day. Bad films don’t get any viewers even if they get solo-release slots.

Shweta’s Kanchhi to compete with Anmol’s Kri in Valentine

The release date of upcoming movie of Anmol KC ‘Kri’ has been finalized for Magh 26 (February 9). The date is the same date in which, Shweta Khadka’s comeback movie ‘Kanchhi’ was previously finalized. It these two movies are released in the same day, it would be a huge clash for them as both of them are the most awaited movies of the current time.

About ‘Kri’

The release date of ‘Kri’ was was announced by the producer Subash Giri in Facebook after the completion of the shooting of the movie in Pokhara.

Friday Release – Fateko Jutta and Dhanwan

Two new Nepali movies has released in theatre on Friday, November 3, 2017. One is an awaited movie featuring well known actors, ‘Fateko Jutta’ and another is never-heard-of film, ‘Dhanwan’. In addition to new movies, the last week’s release, ‘Aishwarya’ is also running strong in theatre.

About ‘Fateko Jutta’

The movie is considered one of the most awaited movies of the year because of the star cast and a successful song. The trailer and the song titled ‘I am sorry..’ were well received by the audience. The movie produced by the producer of ‘Chapali Height’ sequels, Arjun Kumar, is directed by Nikesh Khadka. The movie features Saugat Malla, Priyanka Karki, Kemshwor Chaurasiya, Anoj Pandey etc. in main role. Actor Dayahang Rai is featured in a cameo role. Daya’s role was kept a secret by the film makers. They released a poster featuring Dayahang in a Goddess’ role.

Friday Relase – Aishwarya of Ramesh Upreti and Deepika

This week, on the occassion of the popular festival of Terai, Chhat, new Nepali movie ‘Aishwarya’ is releasing in theatre (on October 27, 2017). Songs and the trailer of the movie was liked by the viewers. The movie featuring actor Ramesh Upreti with Deepika Prasain and Keki Adhikari in the leading role also features Prasanta Tamrakar, Arjun Shrestha, Nirmal Sharma and Tenju Yonjan in main roles.

The movie presented by a well known actor of the past, Ramesh Upreti is produced by Arjun Shrestha and Kiran Rana Upreti. The actor Nirmal Sharma ‘Gaida’ is also the executive producer of the movie. The movie directed by Deewakar Bhattarai features the cinematography of Sudip Baral, music by Arjun Pokharel and choregoraphty of Tenju Yonjan.
In the beginning only Deepika Prasain and Ramesh Upreti were told to be the leading artists of the movie. Later, the fact that Keki is also in the movie was revealed.

Will Rudra Priya release simultaneously in TV and film hall? Hall owners say No

Rekha Thapa has announced that her upcoming movie ‘Rudra Priya’ will release at the theatre and a TV station on the same day – on Kartik 2. In an announcement program held on October 9, 2017 Rekha Thapa told made the announcement. Rekha told, “I have viewers not only in the cities but also remote places in Nepal. There are no film halls in remote areas. For the viewers who don’t have film theatres near their homes, I have asked the viewers to watch the movie in TV.” She had also asked the viewers who live in places near theatres to go to the theatre to watch it.

‘Rudra Priya’ is not the first movie that is planning to release in TV and in theatre simultaneously. In Fulpati, ‘Mero Paisa Khoi’ was also released in Dish Home TV. But, the organization of theatre owners have protested the decision of the film producers to release them in TV at the same time as the film theatres.

After the TV station Dish Home purchase the TV rights of new movies to release on the same day as the release in theatre, the theatre owners have started to worry. They have made a decision not to let the producers release their movies in TVs. In a meeting held by the Nepal Chalchitra Sangh a decision was made to stop film producers to release the movies in TV.

Friday Release – A Mero Hajur 2

The sequel of hit movie, ‘A Mero Hajur’, titled ‘A Mero Hajur 2’ was released in theatres all over Nepal on Friday, September 1, 2017. The movie featuring Samragyee RL Shah and Salinman Baniya marks the debut of actress Jharana Thapa as a film director. Produced by Jharana’s husband, Sunil Kumar Thapa, the movie is made under Suhana Films banner.

The movie producers held a premier show of the movie on Thursday. The viewers in the show had given positive response in terms of the acting of the artists and the story. With Samragyee and Salinman, other artists in the movie include Salon Basnet, Amar Subedi, Suman Poudel and others.

Friday Release – Palash, premiered in Kathmandu, director controversy

On Friday, March 31, 2017 the only Nepali movie released in theatre is ‘Palash’. The movie featuring actress Rekha Thapa in the role of a prostitute is directed by Subash Koirala. Rekha Thapa romances with Kameshowr Churasiya.

Chhakka Panja new record – UAE release in 6 cities

The record breaking Nepali movie ‘Chhakka Panja’ is setting another new record. The movie is being screened in 7 different theatres in 6 cities in the United Arab Emeritus (UAE) starting November 10. The movie is being screened in the UAE cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah.

The movie is being screened in association with the local distributor of the movie. A Nepali company Concept Vision Film Production and Distributors had started the distribution of Nepali movies in UAE in October 14, 2016. The first Nepali movie released in UAE was ‘Bir Bikram’.

The Nepali movies in UAE are targeted to the foreign worker Nepali people living in the UAE. In addition to UAE, Nepali movies are expected to be released in other Arab countries including Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Process of releasing Nepali movies in Thailand has also started.

This week, on Friday September 30, new Nepali movie ‘Safar’ is releasing in theatre. It has been some weeks, ‘Chhaka Panja’ is keeping its holdover and the movies released last week weren’t able to attract viewers in their shows. The business of ‘Safar’ is also expected to be affected by the success of ‘Chhaka Panja’.

Safar, a movie about three best friends, is directed and edited by Ashish Shrestha. The movie featuring Manan Sapkota, Sanjay Gupta, Shibir Pokharel, and Nurja Shrestha in lead roles is made under Yuva Films banner. The story of the movie is written and produced by Keshav Khadka. The cinematographer of the movie is Jacob Berardi, music by Satya-Swaroop, Dharmendra Sewan, and Ujjawal Meghi Gurung. The background score is prepared by Shailesh Shrestha, lyrics are written by Uttam Bhaukajee, Arjun Subedi and Ujjwal Meghi Gurung.
