Shristi Shrestha to debut in theater, as Ophelia

The Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, is going to debut in theater in Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet. Shristi will be featured as the character Ophelia in the play. The play in is being played in association with the British Council, Theater Village and the British Embassy in Kathmandu.

The play in Nepali language is directed by Gregory Thompson in association with Bimal Subedi. The play is going to start at the Bhaktapur Durbar Square on October 12, 2015 at 6:00 PM. The regular shows of the play will start on December 17, 2015 till January 11, 2016 at Theater Village.

Gregory is an award winning theater director who is known for innovative staging and actor-audience relationship. He has directed the Shakespeare plays all over the world. Gregory had also conducted a workshop for the Nepali actors, directors, designers and dancers at British council to explore ways of making theater in reference to Shakespeare. 

Shristi Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal in May of 2012. She participated in the Miss World 2012 contest and managed to be one of the top 10 in Beach Beauty contest and one of the top 20 in the contest itself.

Shristi is set to debut in upcoming movie ‘Jaar’. She was also featured in a Bollywood music video – a remix song of Bollywood flick ‘Jackpot’. In the original song, Bollywood actress Sunny Leone had modeled.

The director Bimal Subedi had previously directed theater plays featuring actress Keki Adhikari and actress Namrata Shrestha.
