On Friday November 18, 2016, two new movies were released in theatres. A Manoj Pandit movie ‘Chhaya’ and Samir Balami’s movie ‘The Famous’ were the new release.
The movie ‘Chhaya’ is about child abuse. According to data, every one girl-child in 4 girls and one in every 6 boy-children are abused in Nepal. The movie produced by Voice of Children and Interact Media addresses the child abuse issue in the society. In many cases, the parents are not aware of such abuses.
The director of ‘Greater Nepal’, ‘Dashdhunga’ and ‘Badhshala’, Manoj Pandit has tried shed light in the ignored aspect of children safety in the society. ‘Sanghuro’ the movie released last year is going to be featured in Channel 4 television. The makers of the movie have claimed that the movie is the first Nepali cinema to be telecasted on any major international television channel.
To celebrate and announce the news, film makers had organized a special show of the movie in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The movie made on a typical Nepali plot was selected to represent in SAARC Film Festival.
Actress and model Keki Adhikari is debuting in theater as Charumati. While everybody else were celebrating Shivaratri, Keki and the ‘Charumati’ team spent the night at the Theatre Village to rehearse for the play. The rehearsal went on for the whole night.
‘Charumati’, a historical dance play is written by Satya Mohan Joshi and directed by Bimal Subedi. Originally written in Newari, the play was translated in Nepali by Rajendra Maharjan.
