On Friday November 18, 2016, two new movies were released in theatres. A Manoj Pandit movie ‘Chhaya’ and Samir Balami’s movie ‘The Famous’ were the new release.
The movie ‘Chhaya’ is about child abuse. According to data, every one girl-child in 4 girls and one in every 6 boy-children are abused in Nepal. The movie produced by Voice of Children and Interact Media addresses the child abuse issue in the society. In many cases, the parents are not aware of such abuses.
The director of ‘Greater Nepal’, ‘Dashdhunga’ and ‘Badhshala’, Manoj Pandit has tried shed light in the ignored aspect of children safety in the society. The movie features Anup Baral, Aruna Karki, Saibrat Acharya, Prabina Khadka, and Prakash Dahal in main roles. The music in the movie is composed by Kali Prasad Baskota.
Two new movies have released in theater on November 11, 2016 – ‘Jatra’ and ‘Jung Bahadur Ko Coat’. Director Pradeep Bhattarai’s movie ‘Jatra’ is a comedy movie different from it’s competing action movie ‘Jung Bahadur ko Coat’.
The movie ‘Jatra’ is produced by the ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ producer, Rabindra Singh Baniya. Baniya was featured as ‘the Hanuman’ character in ‘Pashupati Prasad’. The movie is the debut movie of the director Pradeep Bhattarai. Battarai had worked in the movies and television serials directed by Madan Krishan Shrestha and Hari Bamsha Acharaya (MaHa Jodi) as an assistant director. Two main characters feature Bipin Karki and Rabindra Singh Baniya (Bhasme of ‘Pashupati Prasad’ and Hanuman respectively).

The editor is Ujjawal Dhakal, music composer is Almoda Upreti, lyrics by Manas Raj, background scroe by Iman Bikram Shah, choreography by Rajendra Rajbahak, and action by Samrat Basnet.

Two new Nepali movies were released in theater on Friday, April 29, 2016. Both Suraj Singh Thakuri starrer ‘Junge’ and Jiwan Luitel starrer ‘Baazigar’ are action movies – one targeted to the multiplex viewers and another to the single theater viewers respectively.
The movie featuring Suraj Singh Thakuri and Richa Sharma in leading role is considered an awaited movie because of the trailer, star cast and film making style. Other notable actors in the move are Anup Baral and Dipasikha Shahi. The content and style scene in the trailer had been appreciated. Actress Richa is featured as a hot queen – in negative role. ‘Junge’ is directed by Utkal Thapa. The cinematographer is Susan Prajapati, Subash Koirala has written the script and the dialogue is written bySS Agraj. This week on January 15, 2016 two new Nepali movies are releasing in theater. Both the movies – director Sabitri Khatri’s ‘Kafal Pakyo’ and Suwarna Thapa’s movie ‘Fanko’ were highly publicized movies. Both the movies were shown to the Nepali viewers in foreign countries before their official release. The movies are being released on Magh 1, the Makar Sakranti festival in Nepal.
The movie ‘Kafal Pakyo’ features Jiwan Luitel, Barsha Raut, Mukesh Acharya, Laya Sangarula and Uttam KC in leading roles. The movie directed by Sabitri Khatri features the music of Bikash Chaudhary, script of Pradeep Bhardwoj and is made under Red Panda banner.
The movie is made on comedy theme. The movie shows the travel from Kathmandu to Gulmi in romantic way. The Actor Jiwan is featured as a village guy and actress Barsha Raut is featured as a modern tom-boy. The relationship between the two is the whole movie.

The red carpet premier of Nepali movie ‘Fanko’ was held on Wednesday, January 13 in Kumari theater in Kathmandu. In the event, the cast and the crew members of the movie joined the guests to watch the movie.
The movie has been highly promoted and a few premiers were done in some cities in Europe earlier. The movie directed by Suwarna Thapa is produced by Narendra Maharjan, Sahadev Gautam and Padma Gurung. The Nepali movie ‘Anshabanda’ is a presentation of Shalikram Rana Magar under SSR Films by director and writer Suraj Subba. The movie is made on a social family drama with revenge and comedy. The movie produced by Manju Rana Magar was released in 1998. The movie features child artists Sabina Rana Magar, Angel Tulsi, Sagar Gajurel, Laxman Shrestha with Shalikram Rana Magar.
We had told about Anup’s new movie ‘Dokh’ and its story theme in our earlier post. Anup officially announced the movie during the celebration of his birthday on Saturday, April 4, at Shilpi Theater, Kathmandu. The birthday cake was specially designed to convey the theme of the movie – football game.
In the event, Anup cut his birthday cake and shared it with the artists and the crew. He also announced the film title and the production crew. The story of ‘Dokh’ was selected in a script writing contest. Rajan Kathet had written the story of the movie.
‘Dokh’ is the second movie of Anup Baral after directing his previous movie ‘Fitkiree’. The movie is being produced by the Australian company that had produced ‘Ritu’ (watch ‘Ritu’ here), ALP Entertainment.
Actor and director Anup Baral is all set to start the shooting of a new movie titled ‘Dokh’. The movie featuring mostly the theater artists is scheduled to start the shooting this week.
Anup started film direction in ‘Fitkiri’ (watch ‘Fitkiri’ in full here). Although the movie was not as successful as expected, his theater play ‘Court Martial’ featuring actor Rajesh Hamal was very successful. ‘Dokh’ will be his second directorial venture in Nepali movie industry.
The script of ‘Dokh’ was selected in a competition held by the production company, ALP Entertainment. ALP Entertainment had previously made ‘Ritu’ (watch ‘Ritu’ in full here). The script by the writer of ‘Mokshya’, Rajan Kathayat, was selected for the movies. ‘Dokh’ is a story of a football match between two villages during the Maoist people’s war time. The movies pictures the conflict and hatred through the football game.
Nepali Film – Tandav
Starring – Namrata Shrestha, Asis Rana, Alan Gurung, Anup Baral, Bipin Karki etc.

The film directed by a British national Murray Kerr, ‘Tandav’ is a Smashing Apple production film. The movie marks the debut of the popular rap singer Lahure (Asis Rana) in Nepali film industry. The film was released on August 22, 2014.
Amrit, Maya, and Amir are three child labors who grew up together. When Amrit started working with Ganesh, a weapon smuggler, their friendship and life. Maya becomes a prostitute. Amrit always wants to escape from Ganesh. Amir however joins police force and tries to capture Amrit to get a promotion. A presentation of Smashing Apple, ‘Badhshala’ is a film on the torture of Maoist combatants at Bhairavnath barrack of Nepal Army. Released on April 19, 2013, ‘Badhshala’ went through a political controversy after being banned by Nepal Army. The film makers went to street to protest the unjust banning of the movie citing March 8 as the black Friday.
