Nepal Idol controversy, court ordered to stop vote counting, what next? (UPDATE – AP 1 response)

The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the organizer of Nepal Idol reality show to stop counting the vote by the viewers and present at the court on Bhadra 23 (September 10, 2017). According to reports, the court has ordered to submit the originals of the voting to AP1 TV.

The court was responding to the application of Yagyamani Neupane against the organizer of making one-sided decisions on the organization of the show. According to the decision by the district judge, Diwakar Bhatta, the future of the program will be decided after the decision made on September 10.

What is Nepal Idol?

A singing competition reality show franchise titled ‘idol’ had been quite popular in different countries. After a huge success in India titled ‘Indian Idol’ a similar contest is being held in Nepal. The show is being organized by a new Television station by the Annapurna newspaper group, AP1 TV.

Karishma Manandhar goes to school (Admitted to Grade 9, for real), will Rekha follow?

The actress in her 40s has decided that she needs to complete her high school. At the time the daughter is about to get her University degree, the mother, Karishma Manandhar has decided to complete her high school studies.

Karishma had left school when she was studying in grade 8. She never passed the grade as she was busy in acting. When she was engulfed in the limelight of the film world, she had no time for the books. But, from time to time, lack of education haunted Karishma.

Whenever she went out of the film industry, she realized how important education is. After a few initial movies, she went to Mumbai for acting training. She realized that she would have benefited more if she had studied more. When she went to the USA for a few years, lack of education was the main hurdle in getting jobs and even to get the Green Card. She went through English language training and learnt the language.

Who is Raj Ballav Koirala’s future wife, Pratima Bimali ?

Well known actor and media personality Raj Ballav Koirala is engaged in USA on Sunday. In a program held in his residence, Raj Ballav and Pratima Bimali offered engagement rings to each other. Both Raj Ballav and Pratima live in the USA and they were having affair for a long time.

In his Facebook post, Raj Ballav has confirm the engagement, by telling he is not available anymore. He wrote, “Got Engaged. (Is officially off the market lol.)” and shared a couple of photos of the two. US resident director, Suresh Darpan Pokharel has shared some photos of the engagement in his Facebook.

Although the engagement ceremony was held and they have decided to get married, the marriage date is yet to be finalized.

Namrata Shrestha comeback in theatre, in a US play, Golden Boy

Actress Namrata Shrestha is one of the most successful actress in the Nepali film industry. In addition to films, she had also acted in a couple of theatre plays. About three years ago she had impressed the viwers by a play named ‘Yarma’. Now, she is also doing another play titled ‘Golden Boy’. The play is the Nepali version of a well known play by a US director Deborah Merola. A Hollywood movie by the same name was also made in 1969 based on the story.

In addition to Namrata, the play features Rajkumar Pudasaini and Saroj Aryal. A US theatre actor will also be featured in the play.

Friday Release – A Mero Hajur 2

The sequel of hit movie, ‘A Mero Hajur’, titled ‘A Mero Hajur 2’ was released in theatres all over Nepal on Friday, September 1, 2017. The movie featuring Samragyee RL Shah and Salinman Baniya marks the debut of actress Jharana Thapa as a film director. Produced by Jharana’s husband, Sunil Kumar Thapa, the movie is made under Suhana Films banner.

The movie producers held a premier show of the movie on Thursday. The viewers in the show had given positive response in terms of the acting of the artists and the story. With Samragyee and Salinman, other artists in the movie include Salon Basnet, Amar Subedi, Suman Poudel and others.
