Nepali film ‘Daagbatti’ is a presentation of Mahendra Manandhar for Ram Ram Om Sai Ram Films. The child artist is Ashutosh. The 2001 movie features the background music of Sanjay Shrestha, action by Kumar and Kumar, choreography by Kamal Rai, music of Deepak Raman, story / script / dialogue by Shree Dev BL, cinematography of MS Michael, and editing by Subodh Shrestha.
The movie made on the age old Sati tradition, ‘Jhola’ is scheduled to re-release on April 24, 2015. The movie sent to Oscar by the Nepali authorities was initially released on February 6, 2014. Although the movie celebrated 51 days in some theaters, the reception of the general public wasn’t that good, despite of good reviews. The xNepali reviewer had recommended it ‘a must watch movie’ (read ‘Jhola’ review in xnepali).
After the actress Garima Pant received the best actress award in SAARC Film Festival 2014, the interest in the movie attained new height. The actress was appreciated by everybody including the president, artists’ association and was honored by the National award. Although the movie couldn’t get the nomination in the Oscars, the movie has received positive responses from various festivals.
The comedy actor of ‘Tito Satya’ known as Gaida, Nirmal Sharma is directing the second movie even before the release of his directorial debut, ‘Chocolate’. Through the movie titled ‘Bracelet’ the US return actor Ramesh Upreti is also making a comeback.
In a program organized in Hotel Everest in Kathmandu, the producer Keshav Bhattarai has made the announcement of the movie. With Ramesh Upreti the movie will also feature actress Rajani KC and Namrata Sapkota. The movie introduces two new actors Rhitik Shahi and Sugam Sharma. After debuting in Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s movie ‘Loafer’ (watch ‘Loafer’ here) Rajani KC had acted in ‘Pardesh’ and ‘Bracelet’ would be her third movie.
