A presentation of MK Entertainment, the Nepali movie ‘Punarjanma’ is a story of an army officer. The movie written by Sudarshan Shrestha features cinematography of Shiva Dhakal / Nawaraj Krishna Thapa, action by Asta Maharjan, music by Basanta Sapkota / Jayant Sharma, background score by Alis Karki, and produced by Bhadra Bahadur Shahi. The movie was one of the top 10 movies released in the year 2071 according to the Box Office Club. Told to be based on a real story, the movie ‘Punarjanma’ was released in theater on March 6, 2015.
A 2014 release movie ‘Jhola’ is based on a story by literature Krishna Dharabasi titled the same – ‘Jhola’. The story is about an ancient tradition – Sati culture, until it was banned in 1920s. In this culture a wife had to immolate herself upon her husband’s death. In the start, some women used to end their life on her husband’s death voluntary, but later women were forced to commit Sati even against their wishes.
For her role in the movie, actress Garima Panta had won the Best Actress award at the SAARC Film Festival held in Sri Lanka in 2014. The film was also selected in Nepal to represent the country in the the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards. The movie however couldn’t succeed in being nominated for the award.
Nepali Movie ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ is the last movie produced by Chhabi Raj Ojha under his Chhabiraj Films banner. He is currently busy in the production of ‘Kismat 2’ featuring actress Shilpa in leading role. The movie was promoted as being made on the life of Suntali Dhami – the police officer who was raped by her co-worker police officers. The movie introduction however states that the story is not based on real incidents or people.
The movie made on the age old Sati tradition, ‘Jhola’ is scheduled to re-release on April 24, 2015. The movie sent to Oscar by the Nepali authorities was initially released on February 6, 2014. Although the movie celebrated 51 days in some theaters, the reception of the general public wasn’t that good, despite of good reviews. The xNepali reviewer had recommended it ‘a must watch movie’ (read ‘Jhola’ review in xnepali).
After the actress Garima Pant received the best actress award in SAARC Film Festival 2014, the interest in the movie attained new height. The actress was appreciated by everybody including the president, artists’ association and was honored by the National award. Although the movie couldn’t get the nomination in the Oscars, the movie has received positive responses from various festivals.

Deshbhakta Khanal is the chief assistant director of the movie, story written by Suresh ‘Bishwo’, script / dialogue by Brajesh Khanal, lyrics by Kiran Kharel / Laxminath Sharma, choreography by Basanta Shrestha, action by Rajendra Khadgi, editing by Narendra Khadka, cinematography by Deepak Dhakal, and music by Sambhujit Baskota.
This Friday on Februray 20, 2015 only one Nepali movie, ‘Ichhya’ (or ‘Ichchha’ as shown in the poster) is releasing in theater. Before the final release in theater, the movie was premiered on Sunday evening in F Cube multiplex. The film crew and journalists were invited to the premier show.
The movie directed by Munal Ghimire is made under the banner PLM Films named after its three producers Nabin Shrestha, Laxman Poudel and Prakash Ghimire. The movie features Dayahang Rai, Subash Thapa, Dipsikha Shahi, Om Pratik, Deshbhakta Khanal, Aakash Pal, Ayushma Karki, and Rashmi Bhatta in main roles. The movie is made on a social story about marriage. The movie tries to give a message that marriage should not be forced upon the youngsters.

‘Juneli’ is a Nepali Documentary Drama, based on a real story on epilepsy. The film is produced by Nepal Epilepsy Association (NEA) and made on the concept of Dr. Hemav Rajbhandari. Purushottam Pradhan is the cinematographer and the director Sagar Lamichhane is also the writer of the docudrama.
Epilepsy (Chhare Rog) is a chronic disease manifested as multiple seizure attacks resulting from excessive electrical discharges in the neurons of brain. The excessive discharge or excitation may remain in a small area of the brain. The film is a very heart touching and educative film and it also contain English sub-title for those who don’t understand Nepali language.
‘Bhai Bhai’ is presented by CB films by Chiranjivi Basnet. Maunata Shrestha has written the script and the dialogue of the film. The mvoei featuring Nikhil with Dilip Rayamajhi and Sajja Mainali was a hit movie.
