Nepali movie industry is a very strange type of industry. In our film industry, most of the business logics fail economic has the least effect on film making. Because of the lack of professionalism in the industry, personal ego and social status are considered more important than the economic viability of the movie. The announcement of 6 movies on the same day, at the end of the year, can considered one of such examples.
On the last Friday of the year 2072 BS, on Chaitra 26 (April 8, 2016), six different movie makers have announced the release date of their movies. It is interesting that five out of the six movies are yet to go to the floor yet. The movies are:
Out of these movies, only the movie ‘Lootera’ has completed its shooting. The movie featuring Nikhil Upreti was previously announced to be released in Tihar but now the release date has been delayed by 5 months. The crew and artists of some of the movies are yet to be determined.
Nepali Film – Parai
Starring – Govinda Shahi, Nandita KC, Garima Pant, Niraj Baral etc.
Director – Shiva Regmi
The movie produced by Govinda Shahi and a presentation of Deepak Kumar Shahi, ‘Parai’ was the last movie of the late director Shiva Regmi. (list of Shiva Regmi’s films) Director Regmi died on December of 2013, a month before the movie was released in theater in January 2014.
The story of the movie is written by Shivam Adhikari, music by Basanta Sapkota. The lyrics of the film are composed by Shib Regmi,Basanta Sapakota,Dayaram Pande,Naresh BHatarai and Nabaraj Lamsal. The singers are Bhishan Mukarung, Dipak Limbu, Swarup Raj Aacharya, Rajina Rimal, Rajesh Payal Rai, and Mandavi Tripathi.
The producer of ‘Parai’, Govinda Shahi, has told that a portion of the income made by the movie will go to the director’s family. ‘Parai’ director Shiva Regmi had died earlier this month after kidney failure.
The producer told, "15 percent of the collection made by the movie in theater all over Nepal on the release day, Friday will be donated to Shiva Regmi family and Shiva Regmi Trust." Half of the amount goes to Shiva’s family and the remaining half to the Trust. The movie is going to release in theaters on December 27.
Nikhil Upreti‘s second wife, Sanchita Luitel, is in Kathmandu these days to finish some of her film jobs and for her family meetings.
Sanchita is also performing a Puja at Pashupati for their happy married life.
Sanchita told that Nikhil is quite busy in Mumbai these days and that he has agreed to do the movie in the condition that the shooting will be done in Sikkim. Govinda Shahi, the producer of â€˜Sansar Afnai’ however had previously said that Nikhil will come to Kathmandu to do the shooting.
