In a protest against corruption, high profile protesters like Bhagawati Kafle, Rameshore Khanal, MaHa jodi (Hari Bansha Acharya, Madan Krishna Shrestha), Rabindra Mishra, and others gathered in front of the office of The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), wearing the T-shirt with the message "Bhrasthachari laai kira paros" (Let the corrupt rot).

Oli says – his PhD is not fake

CPN UML leader KP Oli told that the honorary PhD he received from a so-called-university is not fake and he is not willing to give it up.

After the news about the university being fake, most of the receivers of the honorary PhDs degree – Madan Krishna, Hari Bamsha and Kantipur’s Rameshowr Thapa have already given-up the degree with the exception for the two political leaders – KP Oli and Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar.

Nagarik reports that KP Oli, who is currently in the US, has told that he has studied the legal papers of the university and he is confident both the university and the degree he has received, are legal.

Yes, it can only happen in Nepal!

In a program, in which the the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subhash Newang, was the chief guest, high level officials and reputed personals were handed over fake honorary PhD certificates. The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar, UML leader KP Oli, Madan Krishna Shrestha, and Hari bamsha Acharya were some of the ‘lucky’ people to received the honorary PhD degree.

MaHa, congratulation for a Rs. 100K award!

Congratulation MaHa, for the selection to receive this year’s Basudev Luitel award!

MaHa, the Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya comedy artists duo, is selected to receive this year’s Basudev Luitel award for the theaters category. The award has a cash prize of Rs. 111,111.00.

Basudev Luitel award is given away in three different fields every years and theater is one of the fields. Selection of the winners of the other two fields, literature and cartoon art, is yet to be announced.

The prize is distributed on the birthday of Basudev Luitel on Bhadra 23 (this year, September 8, 2010).

Actors and actresses in Ramdev yoga camp

It was not only the politicians who are fans of yoga guru Ramdev, film artists are equally attracted to the yoga camp held in Tundikhel, Kathmandu.

Ramdev invites influential people in his camp to make it interesting. Such special guests talk about the importance of yoga. On Wednesday, three actors, Rekha Thapa, Jharana Thapa, and Bhuwan KC, were invited to give a talk in the yoga camp.

Rekha Thapa went with her mother to the camp and talked about the importance of yoga in a person’s health.  Bhuwan KC tried to talk in Hindi but Ramdev told that he can understand Nepali.
