Simpal Khanal married a UK resident businessman of Pakistani origin. Rekha has legally divorced in August of 2016. Shayam Bhattarai has also gone to the USA (I don’t have any information if Shyam has met Ranjana Sharma there).

2012 – Actress Rekha Thapa ended her 10-years-long marriage by divorcing Chhabi Raj Ojha. Rekha is having affair with Sudarshan Gautam and Chhabi has high hopes to marry Shilpa Pokharel. 2012 – Actress Priyanka Karki‘s marriage with Rochak Mainali didn’t last more that two years. The Miss Teen 2005 revealed about the divorce in 2013, after a year of the event (more about Rochak and Priyanka’s divorce).

2014 – Suleman Shankar (Iku) divorced his wife of 5 years Jaya KC (report on Iku’s divorce).

Saranga Shrestha – Saranga married a US citizen and divorced. She is currently married to a young Nepali guy, Ramesh, living in the USA. Saranga and Ramesh have a daughter.

Divorce in Nepali movie sector has become a common happening these days. Divorce brings in pain and problems and doesn’t come easy for both the parties involved. The traditional Nepali society has made it even worse in terms of setting a ‘bad example’ in the society.

Let’s analyze some of the high profile problems in marriages of the personalities of Nepali movie industry:

Bhuwan KC / Sushmita KC  – Bhuwan KC is known for his affairs with various ladies.  Bhuwan KC’s first marriage with Bijaya KC ended when Bijaya went to USA with their kids. Bhuwan found Sushmita KC as his second wife. That too didn’t lasted long and they ‘divorced’ until they reunited again after the release of “Ma Timi Bina Marihalchu”. But, they have divorced again. Bhuwan’s affair with Sharmila Dangol didn’t go far and he is living alone these days. We won’t be surprised if Bhuwan and Sushmita get together after the release of ‘Sathi Ma Timro’ as predicted by friends in Films Nepal. (update- they didn’t get together, but there is rumor that Bhuwan is having an affair with Jiya KC)

Shiva Shrestha: After the divorce with his wife Ganga, Shiva has found a woman, his daughter’s age to marry. Like Bhuwan’s first wife, Shiva’s first wife Ganga also lives in the US. Shiva has a child with the second wife and it is told to be going on well.

Gauri Malla – After the divorce with her husband Prajwal Bhandari, Gauri is currently seeking a new life partner. Living in the US and working as a singer in an Indian restaurant, Gauri is rumored to be having intimate relationship with an Indian.

Pooja Chand – Actress Pooja Chand has recently married with Raju Lama in the US. By birth, Pooja Pariyar, Pooja has been using the surname Chand from her first marriage. Pooja’s first husband photographer Suraj Chand is told to be living together with model Riya Karki. Although Suraj and Riya haven’t announced their intention to live together forever, there is higher probability that they will get married in near future.  Suraj is told to be not that happy of Pooja still using his surname ‘Chand’ even after marrying a ‘Lama’.

Sushmita Karki – It has been three years since the actress Sushmita Karki ended her marriage with singer Roshan Parajuli. Sushmita regretted her first marriage in a hurry and would like to take time before she marries for the second time.

Saujanya Subba – Actress Saujanya Subba is also alone after divorce. She says that she will get married soon but, wouldn’t tell who the guy would be.

Sanchita Luitel / Nikhil Upreti / Aakash Shah – After the problem in marriage with Aakash Shah, Sanchita has married Nikhil Upreti. When Aakash went to India for acting training, Sanchita got attracted towards Nikhil. Nikhil and Sanchita have given birth to a son recently. On the other hand, Nikhil has his own problem. He hasn’t officially divorced his first wife Kopila Upreti. The marriage between Nikhil and Kopila was also a love marriage and they also have a son.

Ranjana Sharma / Shyam Bhattarai  – Although not confirmed, the relationship between the director Shyam Bhattarai and actress Ranjana Sharma is in trouble again. After two years of their divorce, they had reunited again. But, after 6 months of the reunion Ranjana went to the US and there is rumor of her marriage with somebody else. Director Shyam Bhattari has told that he doesn’t care what Ranjana does.

Kriti Bhattarai – Actress Kriti Bhattarai and journalist Rabi Shrestha have also divorced on ‘mutual understanding’. The couple didn’t want to make it a big deal and remained low profile while they seperated.

Anju Pant / Manoj Raj  – Singer Anju Pant has also separated with her musician husband Manoj Raj after a decade long married life. She says that she had lived through physical and mental abuse from her husband and has promised to live alone in the rest of her life. In recent time, the rumor is going around about her intimate relationship with actor Bishal Bista. Although, they deny such a relationship, some believe they might get married soon.

Seema Paneru / Baburam Dhakal  – The relationship between the actress Seema Paneru and director Baburam Dhakal started before they entered the movies sector. But, after their success, problem in their relationship start to surface. Dhakal accused Seema to be more inclined toward affluent lifestyle and seek more freedom. After the divorce, Baburam has started a new married life and Seema has moved to Dubai to live with an unknown person.

Simpal Khanal / Prasanna Poudel – The marriage between actress Simpal Khanal and director Prasanna Poudel didn’t last long.

Mausami Malla – Actress Mausami Malla had already been unlucky twice. Mausami has already divorced first husband Dhan Bikram Mall and second husband Rabi Dangol and is living alone these days.

Sirjana Basnet – Actress Sirjana Basnet (Deuta fame) was widowed when her first husband, Biju Ranjit, died young.  She married director Surendra Shah for the second time. But, when Surendra married another woman, Sirjana is left alone.

Siru Bista – Actress Siru Bista has also divorced and is living alone with her son for almost a decade.

Sonu Tharu – Actress of Tharu movie, Sonu Tharu says that her husband betrayed her  when she became pregnant. Sonu is living alone for the last two years.

Priya Rijal – Actress Priya Rijal’s married life didn’t last more than three years. These days Priya is living alone with her son.

Pooja Lama – Actress, model and singer Pooja Lama’s first marriage with Biraj Lopchan didn’t last long. After remaining alone for about a decade she was forced to marry DJ Sishir when their sex video was released in internet. But, the marriage didn’t even last a month. Pooja had announced that she has changed her religion to Muslim and she has remained low profile these days.

Rekha Thapa / Chhabi Ojha – There was a rumor about the problem in the marriage between actress Rekha Thapa and producer Chhabi Ojha. Rekha had been complaining about Chhabi trying to act like a guardian rather than a friend. Although, she later denied about such a rumor, it is clear that the relationship is not as smooth as it should be.

Manisha Koirala – Manisha is a Bollywood star but she had always wanted to come back to Nepal to live here. That was one of the reasons she married a Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal. But, things don’t seem to be going smoothly in their case too. If  a recent rumor is to be believed, Manisha is preparing the legal document to file divorce.
